Chikan Ancient Town, located in Kaiping City, Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, is a famous overseas Chinese hometown with more than 90,000 overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots. The ancient town was built during the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 370 years. It used to be the location of Kaiping County. Chikan Ancient Town is built along the Tanjiang River. The south bank is the countryside, the north bank is the city, the uniform arcade buildings, and a group of western buildings larger than Kaiping Old Street. The East and West embankments along the river, and the Zhonghua Road parallel to them, there is a small road called "Second Horse Road" sandwiched between the two main roads. These are the three horizontals parallel to the river, and there are many vertical roads intersecting with them to form the urban road network. Chikan Ancient Town is like a World Architecture Museum. The preserved characteristic ancient buildings here have a unique blend of Chinese and Western simplicity. It can be said to be unique in the Lingnan region.
