Hebi City, formerly known as Chaoge, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Henan Province, located in the northern part of Henan Province, at the transition zone from the eastern foothills of the Taihang Mountains to the North China Plain. It covers a total area of 2,182 square kilometers. Hebi City has a warm temperate semi-humid monsoon climate, with distinct seasons, abundant sunlight, and relatively large temperature differences. Hebi City is the setting for the story of 'Fengshen Yanyi' (The Investiture of the Gods). The capital of the Shang dynasty, Chaoge, and the capital of the Zhao state, one of the seven warring states, Zhongmou, were both located in the Hebi urban area. The surnames Lin, Shi, Wei, Kang, and Yin, as well as the Korean surnames Kang and Qin, originated here, making Hebi an important birthplace of surnames for East Asian ethnic groups.
