South Island, New Zealand: Lake Tekapo/Good Shepherd Church

📍Travel 180 kilometers from Oamaru to Lake Tekapo, a famous tourist spot in the central part of the South Island of New Zealand. 🌟Lake Tekapo is a very beautiful place with clear and jade-like water, surrounded by mountains and snow ridges. On the shore of Lake Tekapo, there is a hut made of volcanic stones, which is the famous Good Shepherd Church. It is said that the church was built in 1935 to commemorate a loyal shepherd dog. The church is small and not luxurious, but this historical background gives the church a special emotional value and is one of the reasons why many couples choose to hold weddings here (including Chinese actress Yao Chen). There is another explanation for the name of the 'Good Shepherd Church'. It may come from a parable in the Bible. The good shepherd refers to Jesus Christ, who is a shepherd, taking care of and protecting his flock. The church is named after this to symbolize the care and protection of Jesus Christ. On the south side of the church, there is a shepherd dog statue carved from rocks. The statue is about two meters high and shows the image of a loyal shepherd dog guarding the flock. On the north side of Lake Tekapo, there is also a sheep statue. This statue shows the status of sheep in New Zealand's agriculture and animal husbandry, and echoes the shepherd dog. There is also a footbridge near Lake Tekapo, known as the 'Kapopo Bridge', which is about a hundred meters long.
