Longtan Lake Park

During the Ming Jiajing period (1522—1566), more than a dozen kiln yards were built outside Chongwenmen. In 1952, the kiln pits were transformed into an artificial lake, named Longtan Lake. In 1984, comprehensive construction was carried out in the East Lake of Longtan Lake, building pavilions and terraces, building steps on the lakeshore, planting willows and mulberries, and Longtan Park was officially established, with a total area of 42.3 hectares. It is a new type of city garden that integrates northern classical architecture and modern gardening art, highlighting the theme of the Chinese nation's 'dragon' culture.
