I had the opportunity to visit Sochi at the beginning of this year. It ended up being one of my favourite trips so far. I was lucky enough to have a local friend that showed me around. I came back home a few kilograms heavier (don’t blame me). The food was incredible, but my favourite by far was borscht and shashlik, shashlik is kebabs cooked over a fire, almost similar to bbq. Our days consisted out of coffee, good food, tasty desserts and beautiful scenery. I felt truly immersed in the culture after spending nearly two months there. I like these kinds of “slow travels”, that way you can really get the feeling of the country and its people. I can’t wait to go visit Sochi again, perhaps next time in summer. #russia #sochi #mynovgetaway#awesomepic

Anawangin Cove

A decade ago, Anawangin Cove was where you should go if you wanted to be alone on the beach. But that’s not the case anymore. Anawangin’s popularity skyrocketed over the years, and it’s not hard to see why. Its coast is strewn with volcanic ash, spewed by Mt. Pinatubo in 1991, and then shaded by towering agoho trees, a type of casuarina tree that thrives by the shore. This combination, while not unique, is far from the usual beach landscape in the country. All this is magnified by its proximity to the capital, Manila, just 5 hours away. The view from the southern hill that separates the main beach from another beach. If you’re facing the sea, simply follow the shore to your left and you will reach a trail up a hill. Cagbalete Island is a quiet island getaway that has been rising in popularity among backpackers and budget travelers. Located just off the coast of Mauban town proper in Quezon just a few hours from Manila, this island offers beautiful beachfront campsites and a wide white-sand beach. Calauit Wildlife Sanctuary

Calauit Safari Park, formerly known as Calauit Game Preserve and Wildlife Sanctuary, is a 3,700-hectare land that is known for the thriving population of giraffes and zebras. Established on August 21, 1976, this park was an initiative of President Ferdinand Marcos during his regime when he brought the African wildlife from Kenya all the way to the lone island of Calauit in Busuanga. The zebras and the giraffes were more unconcerned to tourists. It was noticeable how they were oblivious to our presence. Neither could these creatures ignore the temptation brought by their food. The park gave us the opportunity to feed the giraffes. As the tour guide handed over a handful of branches to us, the gentle giants approached us and bent over their necks to reach for the leaves. Guangzhou Yuan. This is one famous building in the Guangzhou city shaped like Chinese coin, so it is called by citizens in this way, yuan. I remember several years ago it was even shown on a TV. No doubt, idea is pretty original and I need to say even more, the idea was realised very good. So, now anyone can come and take a look. #holidayvacation There are dozens of temples in Chiang Mai, but Wat Pha Lat is our favorite temple we've visited by far. First, it is surrounded by the jungle, so it has a completely different feel than the temples within the Old City. Second, it can only be reached by hiking, which eliminates many tourists. The crowds at Wat Pha Lat are far fewer than at many of the other temples in Chiang Mai, so it feels really special. #holidayvacation#tripinspired#happynewyear

#holidayvacation Most waterfalls you think of are extremely slippery due to the massive build up of mossy rocks or fast moving water. The Bua Thong Waterfalls (also known as "Sticky Waterfalls") in Mar Ho Phra are unique because they are fed by a spring rich in minerals. Due to the mineral deposits in the water, the rocks have become porous and slightly spongey, allowing you to walk up them with bare feet (perfect for anyone with "wandering soles"! Haha!) There are a couple sections to the tiered-waterfall, but our favorite was at the very bottom where the falls drop about thirty feet and you are able to climb around them. It's a great way to cool down on a hot day! After you're done playing the falls, head up the small set of stairs opposite of the falls which leads to the source of the spring. The spring itself is a deep hole filled with vibrant blue water. #holidayvacation#tripinspired#happynewyear
