Trekking to a Volcano in Zambales 🇵🇭
#timetotravel
Upon seeing this breathtaking place , I felt like I needed to kowtow because of its magnificent sight. This is Mount Pinatubo, an active volacano which last erupted in 1993.
You need to trek for 2 hours to the crater of the volcano which has crystal clear lake. Trekking is a popular activity here so it is advised to wear your hiking gear if you want to see the famous Mount Pinatubo's crater. Before the hiking you will experience an hour and half jeep drive from Angeles City.
Make sure you are well equipped and carry a light backpack to store your water.
A memorable trek indeed!
Enjoy your hike!

The joy of seeing this volcano upclose
This is the location of the world's second-largest volcanic eruption in a heavily populated area. Mount Pinatubo erupted abruptly on June 15, 1991, releasing large waves of superheated ash and gas into the atmosphere; today, you may visit this magnificent yet eerie area with a leisurely paced climb that takes two to three hours. The pure, vividly blue waters that have collected in the volcano's crater are a peaceful yet eerie place to stop for lunch, rest, and, of course, take plenty of photos!

Mt Pinatubo Experience ⛰️🗻
If you’re craving epic landscapes close to Manila, this Manila-to-Botolan daytrip is pure adventure fuel! 🏞️⛰️ The highlight? Tackling the legendary trek to Mt Pinatubo’s crater, plus an adrenaline-pumping 4x4 ride—perfect for solo explorers or squads chasing thrill.
Start early: From Manila, set out for Botolan (about 3 hours by private car or organized tour). Once you reach Botolan, head straight for Mt Pinatubo (Botolan, Zambales, Philippines—open all day, year round) to jump into a rugged 4x4 that plows through the lahar fields.
The Trail: The 4x4 adventure is legit—bumps, water splashes, wild terrain, and unreal volcano views. After the drive, the hike to the crater’s edge is about 2 hours (moderate fitness recommended). Trust me, the sapphire-blue lake inside the crater makes every step worth it!
Top Tips:
• Pack lots of water, sunblock, snacks, and wear solid trekking shoes.
• Tours require early booking, especially weekends—use trip.com to lock down legit operators.
• No need for permits if you’re with a registered guide, but check local advisories before you go.
• Expect to get messy (and wet!) on the 4x4—bring a change of clothes.
Getting Around: Shared vans or private tours are easiest for the Manila-Botolan route; local trikes cover short distances once in Botolan.
Food: Post-hike, recharge at local eateries—try fresh-off-the-grill inasal chicken or pancit at eateries near the jump-off point.
Weather: Dry season is best (Nov–May) to avoid muddy trails. Bring cash; GCash sometimes works but don’t gamble on signal.

"Chasing craters and summer skies" 🌋☀️🚙
We hiked to Mount Pinatubo last summer and it was nothing short of epic. From the exhilarating 4x4 ride across lahar fields to the trek through raw, untouched landscapes, every step brought us closer to one of the most breathtaking views in the Philippines — the turquoise crater lake surrounded by dramatic cliffs. 🏞️💙 It’s hard to believe this beauty was born from a destructive eruption. Mount Pinatubo is a powerful reminder of nature’s strength and resilience. If you're craving adventure, serenity, and scenery all in one trip — this is the place to be.

Conquering Mount Pinatubo: A Challenge of Touch and Amazement
Climbing Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines is a journey that challenges both physical strength and will.
In the early morning, we took a four-wheel drive vehicle to cross the rugged volcanic gravel terrain, with dust flying everywhere, and we were excited and nervous.
After getting off the car, we started hiking, passing through dry riverbeds and magnificent volcanic landforms along the way. Every step was full of unknowns and surprises.
After several hours of trekking, we finally reached the top of the mountain. The volcanic lake in front of us lay quietly in the crater like an emerald. The lake water was clear and blue, and the scenery was breathtaking.
Standing on the top of the mountain, looking back at the rugged road we had walked, I felt a deep sense of touch and accomplishment in my heart. This is not just a mountaineering experience, but also an unforgettable journey of dialogue with nature and challenging one's own limits, which is unforgettable.

Mount Pinatubo
Mount Pinatubo is an active stratovolcano located on the island of Luzon in the Philippines, near the boundaries of the provinces of Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga. It's part of the Luzon Volcanic Arc, and it's best known for its catastrophic eruption in June 1991, which was one of the largest volcanic eruptions of the 20th century.
Before the 1991 eruption, it stood at about 1,745 meters (5,725 feet); after the eruption, the summit collapsed, forming a caldera, and the height was reduced to about 1,485 meters (4,872 feet).
1991 Eruption Ejected massive amounts of volcanic ash and sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, which significantly affected global temperatures (cooling the Earth by ~0.5°C temporarily).
Over 800 people died (many from roof collapses due to heavy ashfall), and more than 200,000 people were displaced.
Typhoon Yunya, which coincided with the eruption and caused deadly mudflows (lahars).
Created a 6-kilometer wide caldera.
Ashfall affected areas as far away as the Indian Ocean.
Long-term environmental and socio-economic impact on surrounding areas, especially the Aeta people, indigenous communities that lived on its slopes.
The caldera has since filled with water, forming Lake Pinatubo—a crater lake that has become a tourist attraction.
It is monitored closely by PHIVOLCS (Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology).
Would you like a timeline of the 1991 eruption, current hiking information, or the science behind the eruption?

I visited the rural areas of the Philippines!
I traveled by jeepney, a means of transportation in the Philippines, and it was fun to be able to talk while riding because the back door was wide open and people sat facing each other!
Wherever I went, the wide, green rural areas were captured as they were
And seeing people who seemed free made me want to stay in the Philippines for a long time… ☺️
It's good to go to hotels or swimming pools, but sometimes going to places I don't know on my own is new and exciting🥰
Also, I liked that no matter which restaurant I went to, it was noisy and crowded, and I could experience the local atmosphere and food‼️

Transport
Transportation tips: It is recommended to find a travel agency directly, otherwise it will be difficult to get to the bottom of the mountain
It takes about an hour to take a jeep, and more than half of the journey is bumpy.
Then we walked for more than an hour and passed a stream, which required basic long jump of about 2 meters, otherwise the shoes would get wet.
After that, you will climb up the stairs to see the beautiful scenery, Mount Pinatubo, which is a must-see attraction in a lifetime.
Shopping guide: When you arrive at your destination, you can actually buy cold drinks and snacks (I climbed so hard, but you can still carry things here to sell)
Well, money really is everything.
