Buttermere Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
The idyllic lake and village of Buttermere
#wheretogo #unitedkingdom
While visiting North England, one of my to-go
places was Buttermere, a picturesque gem in the Lake District, beckoning explorers with its tranquil beauty.
Its allure is intertwined with the famed Romantic poet William Wordsworth, who wandered its shores and lived here for a period, finding inspiration for his verses.
This otherwordly landscape, framed by hills and clear waters, is incredibly picturesque.
One can simply walk around the lake like I did, which is about 7km in distance, visit the nearby village after traipsing across fields of colourful sheep and drink a pint of local lager.
Highly recommended!
Buttermere
Battermere is located in the northwest of the lake district, 4 miles from Honister Pass and 9 miles from Keswick. Because it is located between Battermere Lake and Crummock Water, the terrain here is like a bowl-shaped basin. You can walk to the lake and enjoy the famous Haystacks mountain, and there are also suitable circular hiking trails around.
Accommodation resources in this area are limited. Hikers can stay at youth hostels or stone houses by the Batmir Lake. Camping at the campsite is also a good option.

Derwentwater Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Lake District, the backyard of England, find your own British tranquility.
Lake District, the backyard of England, find your own British tranquility.
The Lake District in England is known as the most beautiful backyard of the British people, and also the most beautiful corner of England. It has also been rated by National Geographic as "one of the 50 places you must visit in your lifetime" in the United States.
Lake Windermere
The largest lake in England, surrounded by continuous mountains and isolated villages, picturesque and charming, no wonder it has become one of the most popular lakes in all of England.
Don't miss the opportunity to boat on the lake. We recommend enjoying a cruise along the Windermere Lake, where different lake routes are available to choose from. This way, you can not only boat on the sparkling lake water, but also explore the beautiful towns and unique attractions of the Lake District with local guides.~
Derwent Water in the Lake District
The lake, which enjoys the reputation of "the most picturesque pastoral lake", is tranquil and charming, with clear water like a mirror, the sky and water merging into one, and reflecting the distant mountains and white clouds on the lake surface. It is natural and pure, deeply moving people without any artificial embellishment.
Wast Water, Lake District
England's deepest lake, when viewed from afar, the shimmering surface of Lake Windermere is gently surrounded by thousands of mountains and valleys, reflecting the continuous hills on the lake bottom through the clear water. Walking into the lake, you can see the scattered stones on the lake bottom through the clear water, which is really beautiful! Due to the less convenient transportation in the western part of the lake area and more mountains, there are fewer tourists here than in Windermere.
Bowder Stone Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Bower stone is 9 kilometers 15 minutes drive from Keswick, you can also take the bus 77/77A from Keswick. The stone is a gentle 10 minutes walk 1/4 miles from the main road. People say it weighs 2000 tons with a circumference of 90 feet. A wooden ladder is replaced by the metal in 2019. You can climb on the ladder to the top for a view and sit on top. One stone on the left side got small holes that can look through the other side. You can also practice your rock climbing skill below. In between the rock there was a hole that i marked with a red circle, people say if you can shake hands with the opposite side can bring you good luck, i try but cannot make it.
