An absolutely fantastic experience! The guesthouse is right next to Moon Pond in the heart of Hongcun Scenic Area, literally five meters from the courtyard gate. The night view is stunning. Half of the building is an ancient structure dating back to the Daoguang era. We stayed in a ground-floor wing room, and it even had a traditional wooden bed, which really enhanced the experience.

Hygiene: Overall, it was excellent and very clean. Environment: I have to say, having such a large courtyard inside Hongcun is truly impressive. The courtyard is very well-maintained, and my mom absolutely loved it, taking tons of photos there – it’s very photogenic (Picture 3 shows a corner of the courtyard). Facilities: The only thing that I feel needs improvement during this stay is the air conditioning in the room (only for the room I stayed in). We visited during the plum rain season, so it was a bit stuffy and humid. Turning the AC up made it a bit too cold, but turning it down didn't seem to do much, although it was functional. I suggest it might need some maintenance or repair. Service: The service here was absolutely top-notch! The pick-up and drop-off were very prompt, and it’s very close to the West Gate parking lot. I paid 20 RMB for 24 hours of parking at the West Gate. The driver, though a man of few words, was truly wonderful. When he took us to the parking lot, he even drove his electric scooter to help us buy bamboo shoots because my mom loved them, haggled for us in the local dialect, and helped us pick out four really good ones! I usually don't spend time reviewing hotels and restaurants, but I just had to leave a good review for this driver! Additionally, the B&B is incredibly close to Moon Pond, just a few minutes' walk away, and about five or six minutes to South Lake (I walk quite fast). It's perfect for getting up early to grab a good spot for photos, as it gets quite crowded even by 7 AM now. Staying here gives you a big advantage for early morning photo ops. There are B&Bs around South Lake too, but I personally think they might not be as quiet as this one. Secondly, for food, I had both of my meals at the B&B, and the food was excellent, especially the stinky tofu. I've been to Anhui several times, and I've never had good stinky tofu until I ate it here – it was the best I've ever tasted (though not cheap). While the price was a bit on the higher side, we (two people) finished everything, which is better than paying for food you only eat a few bites of and waste. The rice was also very well-made; my mom, who is quite picky about food, ate a good amount. Plus, the restaurant faces the courtyard, offering a nice view, and dining is quiet and comfortable. Finally, the hand soap and toiletries were all quite good; my mom even found the toothbrush so comfortable that she took it home! 😅 This is definitely a B&B I would recommend to my friends.

Before coming to Hongcun, I didn't have high expectations, thinking it would just be another old village to visit and leave. However, my stay at 'Hongcun Yike Homestay' made me feel that every detail of this trip radiated warmth. Upon arriving at Hongcun bus station, I was unfamiliar with the area and was stressing about how to drag my luggage across the stone-paved paths to the homestay while looking at a map. The moment I called, the owner's enthusiastic voice immediately put me at ease: 'Wait there, I'll be right over to pick you up!' In less than ten minutes, the owner appeared on an electric scooter, swiftly tied my luggage to the vehicle, and cheerfully motioned for me to hop on. We weaved through Hongcun's winding alleys and past bustling crowds of tourists. The homestay was tucked away in a quiet lane near Moon Pond, an excellent location. You could see Moon Pond just around the corner, yet it was peaceful and quiet – truly an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle. Stepping into the courtyard, I was captivated by this homestay, a renovated Huizhou-style building. The exquisitely carved porch, wooden corridors, and rustic private courtyard exuded the unique elegance and serenity characteristic of Huizhou homes. Inside the room, it was bright and clean. The antique-style wooden bed paired with a soft mattress offered both classic charm and comfort. The night was exceptionally quiet, and I slept soundly. Early the next morning, I opened the window to a beautiful view of the Huizhou-style horse-head walls in the morning light, distant mountains draped in lush greenery, and the nearby sounds of birdsong and fragrant flowers. It truly felt like living inside a traditional Chinese ink wash painting. On the day of my departure, the owner drove me to the bus station as usual, reminding me of other places I hadn't visited in Hongcun along the way. Before saying goodbye, the owner pulled out a packet of chrysanthemum tea from the trunk, handed it to me, and smiled, saying, 'This is our local chrysanthemum tea, take it home and try it.' Holding that packet of tea, my heart felt warm. Staying here truly felt like returning to an old friend's home in Huizhou, thoughtful and considerate in every way. 'Yike Homestay' truly lives up to its name – making one feel 'at ease' (逸) and so content that guests (客) forget to leave. Next time I'm in Hongcun, I'll definitely stay here again.

Outside, you're enveloped in the traditional charm of Huizhou architecture and the serene beauty of the courtyard garden. Inside, enjoy a pure, relaxing, and comfortable living experience. Between the two, you feel a holiday vibe where humanity and nature seamlessly blend. Staying in this village, filled with ancient buildings, makes time seem to slow down. Everywhere you look, there are white walls and bluestone paths… it truly makes you appreciate life. The Chinese light luxury style is immediately apparent. Exquisite flowers and plants adorn the facade, while vintage roof beams and tea sets exude a sense of history. The floor-to-ceiling windows are incredibly bright. A pot of clear tea and a good book are all you need to find solace from the hustle and bustle. There's no one to disturb you, offering a quiet escape amidst activity, allowing time to pass by peacefully. The design is grand yet rustic, leaving a lasting impression.

Xiyun Yingyue Homestay (溪云映月民宿) enjoys an excellent reputation among guests, making it one of the most highly-rated guesthouses within the Hongcun scenic area. It's particularly lauded for its superb location, beautiful Huizhou-style courtyard, the owner's warm and friendly service, and a refined accommodation experience. It's especially recommended for travelers seeking tranquility, a cultural atmosphere, and attention to detail.

Overnight in Hongcun, half mountain and half water ✔ I booked this hotel while visiting Hongcun. I arrived at the scenic area at 6 PM. The hostess came with a cart to pick up my luggage. The entrance to the B&B is decorated in the Huizhou style. We booked a duplex on a last-minute basis; my friend prefers older buildings. We made do with it for one night. The highlight of this place is the terrace. From the top, you can enjoy the entire Hongcun nightscape. For the price, this hotel is quite good, and I'll also review it on the reviews page.

The hotel is very close to hongchun’s South Gate carpark, conveniently located and ample space for a family of four. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, easy to communicate and flexible to deal with. The place is clean and well facilitated, with a roof top lookout area, and friendly cats. Definitely recommended.

Our stay in Hongcun was incredibly comfortable this time! The room has a minimalist wabi-sabi style and is very clean, which is crucial for a trip. The bedding is soft and cozy, the natural light is fantastic, and the room itself is really spacious, making for a super relaxing stay. The overall atmosphere is very peaceful, not at all like being in a busy scenic area – it’s a wonderful place to slow down and truly rest. The room overlooks a small courtyard filled with flowers and plants, absolutely beautiful and vibrant with spring life. Just a few steps from the back exit, you can reach Moon Pond and the old alleys, making it super convenient for exploring and dining, with a lovely local vibe. The owners are also very warm and welcoming, recommending delicious food and sightseeing routes, and even giving out small gifts. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Hongcun!

This guesthouse is in a great location, very close to the village entrance, and just a short walk from the scenic area ticket office. It's clean, hygienic, and has an antique charm that makes time feel like it slows down. The service is also excellent; they'll pick you up at the village entrance and inform you of important travel tips in advance. It was a wonderful experience and definitely worth recommending!

This place is located within Hongcun ancient city and you will need to purchase the pass to reach the place . The pass is valid for three days. The place was quint and for a traveler looking for an local experience this will be the place with a nice yard and standard chinese home built with wood. The stay would have been more comfortable with better heating facilities. The room was extremely cold even with two heaters being used. It was almost impossible to use the bathroom as there was no heating facilities in the bathroom. Ironically the comforter was the one that provided some comfort in this cold weather as temperatures varied greatly during the morning and night. The boss was pretty nice though, he was a quiet person that spoke very little to guests. However, if you made any request with him, he will not only accommodate it but will value add by taking his initiative to make things as convenient as possible for you. I have personally experienced this and it was a pleasant surprise. The boss took the initiative to arrange for me to reach my next hotel destination right up to its doorstep although I did not expect him to do so. Very much appreciated him for his thoughtfulness. Overall experience of the stay was acceptable, if the room had better heating facilities this would have definitely enhance the comfort of the stay greatly for the traveler.
