This hotel is super close to the South Gate, and the staff, especially the ladies, are incredibly warm and attentive. The room was very clean, and while the window faces the street, there's a bit of noise in the morning, but it's fine if you're heading out early anyway. The room gets good light too. The bathroom has a separate shower and toilet, which is great. The complimentary tremella soup was delicious and not too sweet. It's really convenient to be able to grab water from the dispenser right by the hotel entrance. The laundry room is on the first floor, which was perfect for washing all our clothes after hiking Huangshan in the summer. Breakfast is a set menu, but the portions are generous and the food is tasty. The hotel also provides contact info for electric scooter rentals, and you can pick up the scooter directly at the South Gate for a daily rental, which is super convenient for exploring nearby attractions.

The hotel's location is excellent, less than a 10-minute walk to the main attractions. The hotel itself has a serene atmosphere, with a beautiful Jiangnan garden-style setting. You could easily spend a comfortable and peaceful day just relaxing in the courtyard with a cup of tea, without even needing to visit the sights. The cleanliness standards are on par with a five-star hotel, and they thoughtfully provide two types of slippers. The service is very attentive; they offer shuttle service to and from the parking lot, and are both welcoming and discreet. The front desk lady was especially kind, giving detailed directions.

Before coming to Hongcun, I didn't have high expectations, thinking it would just be another old village to visit and leave. However, my stay at 'Hongcun Yike Homestay' made me feel that every detail of this trip radiated warmth. Upon arriving at Hongcun bus station, I was unfamiliar with the area and was stressing about how to drag my luggage across the stone-paved paths to the homestay while looking at a map. The moment I called, the owner's enthusiastic voice immediately put me at ease: 'Wait there, I'll be right over to pick you up!' In less than ten minutes, the owner appeared on an electric scooter, swiftly tied my luggage to the vehicle, and cheerfully motioned for me to hop on. We weaved through Hongcun's winding alleys and past bustling crowds of tourists. The homestay was tucked away in a quiet lane near Moon Pond, an excellent location. You could see Moon Pond just around the corner, yet it was peaceful and quiet – truly an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle. Stepping into the courtyard, I was captivated by this homestay, a renovated Huizhou-style building. The exquisitely carved porch, wooden corridors, and rustic private courtyard exuded the unique elegance and serenity characteristic of Huizhou homes. Inside the room, it was bright and clean. The antique-style wooden bed paired with a soft mattress offered both classic charm and comfort. The night was exceptionally quiet, and I slept soundly. Early the next morning, I opened the window to a beautiful view of the Huizhou-style horse-head walls in the morning light, distant mountains draped in lush greenery, and the nearby sounds of birdsong and fragrant flowers. It truly felt like living inside a traditional Chinese ink wash painting. On the day of my departure, the owner drove me to the bus station as usual, reminding me of other places I hadn't visited in Hongcun along the way. Before saying goodbye, the owner pulled out a packet of chrysanthemum tea from the trunk, handed it to me, and smiled, saying, 'This is our local chrysanthemum tea, take it home and try it.' Holding that packet of tea, my heart felt warm. Staying here truly felt like returning to an old friend's home in Huizhou, thoughtful and considerate in every way. 'Yike Homestay' truly lives up to its name – making one feel 'at ease' (逸) and so content that guests (客) forget to leave. Next time I'm in Hongcun, I'll definitely stay here again.

For my 2-day, 1-night trip to Hongcun, I chose Xiyunpan Yue, which is perfectly situated in the core of Hongcun, right on the bank of Moon Pond. This hotel is right next to Moon Pond, so you can step out and enjoy its beauty at any time. I found myself coming out every hour because the scenery changed continuously with the different times of day and weather. During my two days in Hongcun, I was lucky enough to have fantastic weather – clear blue skies, white clouds, and stunning reflections on the lake. Everything was so beautiful, and every photo I took looked like it belonged in a magazine. So, a tip for everyone: be sure to check the weather forecast before you go. Hongcun's scenery is gorgeous, and the hotel was excellent; everything was just perfect. The hotel staff even arranged pick-up and drop-off at the West Gate, so you can book with confidence!

I booked the Hongcun Wanxinglou·Nanhupan Garden Homestay online. It's conveniently located right by the South Lake, near Hongcun's South Gate, making it easy to visit all the core attractions. The room was spacious and tidy, with a separate wet and dry bathroom that had no strange odors. They provided disposable toilet seat covers and decent quality toilet paper, as well as a full set of disposable amenities. The entire homestay has a charming rustic, antique vibe, and the room was very quiet. I was quite satisfied! Due to bad weather forecast for Huangshan the next two days, I canceled my subsequent plans and immediately extended my stay here for another night offline to enjoy a deeper exploration of Hongcun, hehe! The food here is also quite good, and both the owner and staff are very warm and enthusiastic. Recommended!

Our stay in Hongcun was incredibly comfortable this time! The room has a minimalist wabi-sabi style and is very clean, which is crucial for a trip. The bedding is soft and cozy, the natural light is fantastic, and the room itself is really spacious, making for a super relaxing stay. The overall atmosphere is very peaceful, not at all like being in a busy scenic area – it’s a wonderful place to slow down and truly rest. The room overlooks a small courtyard filled with flowers and plants, absolutely beautiful and vibrant with spring life. Just a few steps from the back exit, you can reach Moon Pond and the old alleys, making it super convenient for exploring and dining, with a lovely local vibe. The owners are also very warm and welcoming, recommending delicious food and sightseeing routes, and even giving out small gifts. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Hongcun!

Minsu owner was very nice to pick our luggages up from the bus station and led us to the minsu, super love his introduction of the culture and history of hongcun, also recommended us to take up the free tour provided by hongcun which was absolutely informative. Had a great day exploring the village and peaceful stay in his minsu, with floor heating! 1 min walk to yue zhao too, must do if for a night view! Hongcun is not big and this minsu is at the centre, very easy to walk everywhere.

The B&B is divided into Courtyard 1 and Courtyard 2. Courtyard 1 is older and Courtyard 2 is newer. Courtyard 1 and Courtyard 2 are not together. If you want to go to the balcony of Courtyard 2, you need to walk a distance. It is not recommended to book a room on the first floor because the windows are all in the corridor at the door and the curtains must be drawn at all times. In addition, the sound insulation of people coming and going and the common problem of B&Bs is not good, it will be noisy overall. Hongcun is more commercialized as a whole, and it feels that staying for one night is not very meaningful.

The courtyard was so inviting, we didn't want to leave! In the evening, when the lights came on, illuminating the grey tiles, white walls, and the greenery in the yard, it was incredibly pleasant to sit down, relax, and chat. The persimmon tree with its red fruit was a beautiful sight. The guesthouse is only a 3-minute walk from the South Gate, so we didn't have to go out of our way with our luggage. The owner even helped us carry our bags. Our room was quiet and peaceful, and we slept soundly until we woke up naturally. It's possible our neighbors were just considerate and quiet that night, so it didn't affect us much. Old houses aren't usually soundproof, but overall, it perfectly suited our slow-paced trip.

Tachuan's autumn was made even more beautiful by this guesthouse. I searched on Ctrip for a long time, worried about hygiene issues, but this guesthouse really paid attention to details and was very clean. The moment I opened the door, the automatic welcoming ceremony from 'Xiao Ai' (smart speaker) was very touching. It's right at the entrance of Hongcun and the price is excellent value for money. The proprietress is very kind, and the young man who checked me in, Manager Xiao Wang, was extremely helpful with excellent service. From picking me up at the station to helping me find a car for my travels, he saved me the anxiety and exhaustion of not having a car in Hongcun. The prices were also reasonable. Anyone worried about drivers getting upset in Hongcun can completely entrust their needs to him. At the village entrance, he even used a small electric cart to help with my luggage. There are Hello e-bikes nearby, so you can go to Lucun early in the morning to watch the sunrise. Thank you for providing such a 'utopia' after my busy work. The hygiene was indeed top-notch!
