The staff were so attentive, the hotel and breakfast amazing. So nice walking around the town. Theres a nice communal sitting area downstaira also. We booked the sauna one afternoon that was really nice. We did the set menu at the restaurant also for sinner one night well worth it. Thanks again

Fantastic family owned hotel on the edge of Monpazier. Everything about the hotel was superb - the friendly staff, the beautiful pool area, the food was tremendous also. We stayed half board and the meal was fantastic value. It was such a lovely stay we wanted to extend our trip. Can’t wait to return!

This is an outstanding establishment with everything you could want. An historic building of architectural merit only 2 minutes walk from the Bastide of Monpazier. The hotel has been tastefully modernised, the staff superb especially Louise, and with a restaurant that provides a real dining experience. The location is perfect with car parking, a swimming pool and even a chess board. Very quiet location with lots of places to sit outside both in the sun and in the shade. A brilliant stay.

My husband and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and chose to stay at a chateau hotel for some quality Time ! The Hotel Edward 1st didn’t disappoint! From arrival to departure the staff were attentive, professional, friendly and welcoming! Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is ideally placed for a stroll into the beautiful, unspoiled Bastide town with cafés, restaurants, boutiques, artisan art shops, even an English brewery where you can sit and enjoy a beer, wine or beverage of choice! We ate in the hotel restaurant which was a feast for all your senses! And again didn’t disappoint! The ambiance was perfect! The chef took time to come and speak to every table! How can I sum up our visit? PERFECT excellent value for money we stayed one night half board. Our four legged family member was also welcomed! Sadly the weather wasn’t ideal for a dip in the inviting pool…….next time!

Isabelle and Michel went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as it could possibly be. The Hotel is beautiful and felt like a home away from home and all meals, particularly dinner, were exceptional. The staff were friendly and helpful but Isabelle helped enormously. This is a lovely hotel in a great location. The room was spacious and well appointed. The staff was attentive. Being able to stroll into town was a bonus. The food was outstanding. Breakfast was generous and the wait staff kept an eye on everything and responded to requests quickly. The dinner we had was excellent. Lots of choices and excellent service.

I enjoyed my one-night stay at this lovely hotel on the edge of town. Unfortunately for me, it was the one night that their restaurant is closed so I missed what I hear is some good dining. Also, it rained on and off that day so I couldn't use the pool. Aside from that, it was an easy check-in with a young man who thankfully for me spoke English as my French is still pretty limited. There was a mild problem with the heat in my room at first but they got that fixed pretty quickly and all the rest was great (though the lighting at the sink makes shaving a bit difficult). Overall, I'd recommend it when visiting the area and the little town has a few other restaurants to choose from as well if you also happen to stay here on a Wednesday night.

Yet again, our fourth or fifth time, a lovely stay in this beautiful hotel. The room was well equipped ,with a very comfortable bed and good quality bedding. The breakfast was first class with so much choice. The staff were charming and extremely helpful.

We love this hotel! First stayed around 15 years ago and can’t believe it took so long to return, but we are so glad we did as it is even better than we remembered. Excellent service all round from a very charming and friendly team. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout and everything is done to a very high standard. Restaurant Eleonore is excellent and the best restaurant in the area. Monpazier is a stunningly pretty Bastide town with plenty going on but it is also very peaceful. We had a wonderful stay and definitely won’t be leaving it another 15 years before we return.
