We chose this hotel in Japan at the beginning of our honeymoon and stayed for 5 nights. This is our first time in Tokyo and we are very happy to be able to stay in such a good hotel. The process we were looking for this hotel at the time was a bit dramatic. We took a taxi from the nearest subway station - it cost 500 yen, the price was a bit embarrassing, it turned out to be so close to the hotel. The next day we found that there was a bus service, about every20-30 minutes, there was a car to the subway station, and then we took this bus all the time. The hotel's hospitality staff was professional and friendly. We arrived at midnight and soon someone took us to the room and helped with our luggage. Our room was stylish, comfortable, spacious and clean. In the morning, we found that the view outside was really good and we could see Mount Fuji! There is a lake on the right, quite big, there is a flea market there on weekends. The accommodation business we booked also included breakfast, we tasted both traditional Japanese cuisine and Western breakfast. I have to say that we like both flavors. The variety is rich, the service is thoughtful, everything is great. There is also a small thing that is very touching. When it rains, you have to ask for an umbrella at the front desk. They will happily provide the prepared umbrella with a charming smile. Tokyo's subway system is very good. After half a day of play, we returned to the hotel to rest, very convenient. Every time we went to the subway station, the hotel bus was already waiting there, which was so convenient. After a break for an hour or two, we can start again without any problems. The government building is a must-visit for tourists and it happens to be close to the hotel. We went there to have a bird's eye view of the whole city. There is also a good souvenir shop around, we went around for half an hour and bought a lot of things. The Japanese know how to make good souvenirs! I highly recommend this hotel and we would like to return.

Janu Tokyo is Aman’s sister hotel that just opened last week. The hotel is located in my favorite high-end area in Roppongi, Azabudaiqiu, Tokyo. It is less Zen and more fashionable than Aman. The cocktails at the bar are very unique and the wine list Each cocktail corresponds to a different district in Tokyo, and is accompanied by artist paintings and text introductions. I ordered two types of wine from Kagurazaka with matcha added, and they were really two big ”bowls” that had to be held in both hands. Only those who can drink. We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel. The location of the hotel was perfect as it was right next to the Tokyo tower so the view was beautiful at night. The hotel is also less than 10 minutes away from 2 metro stations so travelling around the city was convenient. The room size was big so we slept comfortably as a family of 3. The toilet was also big with a modern set-up which we liked - will definitely stay here again.

The service attitude is very good, but there are only 2-3 people checking in and checking out, which is not enough. There will be a lot of queues. Although there will be helpful receptionists to ask for reservation information in advance, it will still take a long time. The advantage of the lobby is that it is on a high floor. The privacy is good. There is a dedicated elevator to get to the guest room, but the disadvantage is that you need to go to the elevator every time you go out/come back. Compared with the accommodation experience eleven years ago, the facilities feel obviously outdated. Breakfast is not a buffet but an a la carte menu. I don’t know how often it changes, but it is the same for two consecutive days. Although there are many ways to prepare eggs, the appetizers, salads and fruits are the same. It may be a bit boring if you eat it for two more days. Freshly baked bread will be served. Come here and let me choose, but they are all shortening and French tart, which are quite greasy. Several kinds of homemade yogurt are good. The puddings are all sweet. When I ordered on the first day, I ordered pancake as the main dish, which was relatively normal. The waffle that came with the second day was also shortened. The chocolate after housekeeping is delicious. There are two kinds of dark chocolate and milk chocolate. The hotel’s chocolate lobby restaurant also sells it. It's not too far away from Roppongi Tower. It's about 1.00km or 10.20 minutes walk. You can see the night view of Tokyo Tower from a distance.

The hotel is centrally located and I think that’s basically the sole reason I may consider staying at it again. Checking in was smooth (thanks to the HK colleague seconded from Ritz Carlton HK), and other than that, I think your hotel staff needs re-training, especially the concierge team! Terrible service and clueless! My friends who were also traveling were not as lucky at check-in. One wasn’t able to get his room at 6pm and was asked to wait (20 mins), and when he finally got his key, he went into the room where someone was already in it. Who could expect this kind of mistake happened in a “modern luxury hotel”? My other friend nearly traumatized trying to check-in with a staff who can’t really speak English and don’t understand what “confirmation number” means. To me, the only disappointment was no upgrade at all even I was a Titanium member then. But well, I of course understand it is “subject to availability”. Hotel itself and its location is superb and definitely create a modern luxury feeling. But I’m staying in a HOTEL and HOSPITALITY and SERVICE should be the most important. And Edition Tokyo fails in all aspect, and maybe this is how you want to create a “lasting memory”? The short lady at the concierge was rude and impolite. When I was trying to ask about the timetable of the airport bus and where the stop is, she simply said why don’t you check it online cos you need to use your credit card and book anyway! I cannot believe this kind of service in Japan, let alone at a 5-star Marriot managed hotel. In the end I let my friend to handle it and she told me she talked to 3 different concierge colleagues and each gave a different answer, in the end it had to escalate up to the duty manager to get a concrete response on how to take the airport bus to Narita. Crazy! Then on separate occasions we went to the lobby bar. We requested to sit by the window and the waiter there said “it is reserved” on every occasion. In the end of course the sofa by the window was empty (and on one occasion it was empty till the bar was closed). I got annoyed and asked for the restaurant manager and I said “if you need a minimum spending just say so, why you have to put us at the bar table?” She said she would look into it and of course no one has yet to give us a good reason why is it the case. And service at the bar was appalling and to a certain extent I would even use “racist” to put it. As a Titanium with Marriot Bonvoy and a Globalist with World of Hyatt, I must say I made a terrible mistake staying at Tokyo Edition. I am sure I would receive better treatment and a better holiday experience if I stay at Andaz Tokyo which is across the street!

The way their approaching me with smile made me feel “Family welcome” Welcome drink was amazing and Lobby was WOW like a sports bar also. When I entered to the room, I felt relaxed and refreshed because of the great set up and cleanness by housekeeping staff. It was amazing that there was everything I needed in the room. Amenities, coffee etc. The bar on 9th floor has great view and amazing signature cocktails. Bar staff was professional and lovely! Thank you so much,I will come back again. My stay at Oakwood was excellent. The room is spacious - including the bathroom and with kitchen and washing machine facilities. The room was very clean, including all the kitchenware and bathroom. My stay was extremely comfortable. The location is very close to the Metro station, and a few min walk to the azabu juban area with lots of shops, supermarket and restaurants. I also have to commend that the staff and concierge at the hotel are extremely helpful and responsive, they helped with my various requests promptly. I stayed in 2 different rooms, one of the rooms had the view of Tokyo tower. I will definitely be back!

The hotel is VERY small, too small. We booked the biggest room which was stated as 24 sqm. When we first entered into the room we were shocked. This was the smallest room we have ever stayed. Two small beds had to put next to each other, otherwise you can't walk in. And there was no seating area for you to rest unless you sit on the bed. Luggage cannot be opened in the room freely and we had to make our way to adjust that. We paid almost aud$300 per night and the whole experience was disappointing. Service was very friendly and location was good. But because the room was too small, we cannot enjoy our stay in the hotel. Almost everything is self serviced, they don't even have lotion and cotton tip.
