Farthings Country House Hotel & Restaurant Tunton

`If you are a lover of excellent gourmet food and first class service head for Qapaq, a Peruvian Restaurant in Los Cristianos, Tenerife, where you will find superb dishes of the highest quality, which reflect the ingredients, many of which are sourced from Peru, and unique cooking methods of a talented Lady Chef, whose attention to detail and food artistry is beyond anything we have ever experienced before. There is the option of a gourmet tasting menu consisting of approximately 7 dishes, or dishes from the Grill or Wok or various choices of fish, (ceviche being a house speciality) chicken, beef or milk marinated tender lamb (our favourite!). Desserts such as baked cheesecake accompanied by home made mango ice cream are presented with artistic flair like no other and are heaven sent. Customers are welcomed in a friendly and professional manner, expertly led by Gabriel and talented waiters and waitresses, with dishes and wines explained in a knowledgeable way. This is a unique dining experience, one not to be missed and one to be repeated on many occasions.

Three great things about this hotel. The place is lovely - the decor, the sense of history. The people are lovely and very professional. The food is excellent - the best in the area by far. Only downside is somewhat dodgy wifi, but the rest more than makes up for it.

If I could have rated it lower I would have. I booked a two night break for my wife and myself through Buyagift, to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately my wife became very unwell and needed to undergo tests at the hospital. I contacted the hotel 6 days before the date of our reservation, to explain the situation and request a change of dates. I was informed that my booking would be cancelled and I would not be entitled to a refund. I contacted the hotel again but to no avail. If only I had read the reviews of this hotel on TripAdvisor before I chose to book. The management treat people with contempt and as far as I am concerned, are nothing but money grabbers . Hospitality, they don't know the meaning of it. Shame on you

Used as an overnight pitstop heading west (about 5 miles off both m5 and A303 ) and really good find Very nice room and excellent dinner. We were chasing clock and missed last orders but they were happy to take order over phone. Equally we had to leave before official stat of breakfast but happy to have bacon sandwiches ready to go ( no takeaway cups so take your own!)

A very successful 90th birthday celebration for 23 family members spanning 4 generations. The afternoon tea was delicious and attractively presented. Many thanks to Jo for taking the time to plan this with us: it turned out just as we had hoped. We also enjoyed the breakfasts and appreciated the attentive service of the serving staff. The hotel is charming and the rooms were comfortable and well equipped. Public areas and bedrooms were spotless and well maintained. The gardens are attractive and there was plenty of space for the children to run and play. For those who prefer to spend their time less energetically there are lots of places to sit and enjoy the surroundings.

To celebrate my ninetieth birthday my daughters decided that we should have a family gathering and chose The Farthings for our party of 23 including 7 great grandchildren. They could not have made a better choice. Our welcome on arrival quickly put us at ease with full guidance regarding the facilities of the hotel including the garden with its full range of plants including the vegetable plot and numerous fruit trees. The peacocks, guinea fowl and ducks proved to be of great interest to the children. Overall we found the catering to be of a very high standard with home made preserves as well as the home made cakes etc provided for the afternoon tea party. The rooms were found to be spacious , spotlessly clean and furnished to a good standard. Above all we found the general service to be of a high standard with our needs anticipated before we could ask.
