Hotels with bar in Takachiho

As Takachiho Gorge is comparatively hard to get to we felt much better staying in Takachiho for a night. And it's great to find a modern hotel in Takachiho, the front desk was nice and helpful, note that it is such a small town and dining options are not a lot so I would recommend have dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Hotel has a large parking lot and breakfast is great (a bit wait in the morning during peak time)

I stayed in a Japanese style room. It's a really nostalgic national lodging house with a tatami desk, TV, and tea chest. You'll have to lay out your own futon, which is probably a good thing because unlike inns, you can't enter your room without permission. It had just stopped raining and I could see a rainbow from the terrace. Takachiho is a short walk from Takachiho Shrine, where you can enjoy Kagura at night, and you can also rent cushions. Women will be happy to have individually packaged facial cleansers and cosmetics. We also enjoyed local cuisine such as comparing the tastes of Takachiho beef. This hotel is convenient for sightseeing in Takachiho Gorge.

I stayed here to visit Takachiho gorge, which I wanted to go to for the first time on my first trip with him in the spring of 2016. When we close our eyes and imagine the quintessential Japanese luxury ryokan, Takachiho Ryokan Shinsen is among the first properties that springs to our mind. From the incredible Omotenashi service, gorgeous gardens, architectural elegance, spacious and beautiful villa room, mind-blowing kaiseki cuisine to the terrific private open-air Onsen bath, everything about Shinsen emphatically screams ”destination ryokan.” Shinsen is a family-owned property with a total of just 15 rooms among 3 separate areas: the Honkan (main), Bekkan and Hanare. They are within 1-minute walking distance form one another, and each area has its own unique character - the landscaping is fascinating, as well as the various private dining rooms that are in each building. For instance, in front of the Honkan main entrance is a dry rock garden that is reminiscent of the famed Ryoan-ji in Kyoto, while in the Bekkan it has that plus a variety of perfectly manicured vegetation as well as a small, red-painted traditional-style bridge. The private dining rooms each have its own character as well as views out of the window; we especially loved the view from one of the Bekkan ”Ko****su” rooms during our dinner on the second evening - the window faces the garden, which is lit up from the ground, resulting in a mesmerizing view of the rock garden patterns, mysterious trees and the pretty red bridge. For every meal (whether it's for breakfast or dinner), they escorted us from our room to a different private dining room located in various locations throughout the property. We spent all 3 nights in a room called ”Manyo,” a detached villa that was located in the Hanare section of Shinsen. Ms. Kumi Sato, the charming and elegant ”Okami-san” (Proprietress) mentioned that Manyo is the best room at the property. It's a generous 100m² in size, and thoroughly modern with all of the creature comforts that one would expect at a top-flight luxury hotel. Manyo's room consisted of a bedroom with two double Western-style beds, a living room with a sofa, coffee table and a large, flat-screen television, and a Japanese-style tatami room as well. It's an open floor plan, although each section of the room can be closed off by sliding the walls shut for privacy (or peace and quiet.) Very versatile! The Villa had a large patio with a beautiful zen-style rock garden beyond it. Off to the side is an outdoor, free-flowing Onsen (hot springs) bath made of Hinoki wood. Next to the Onsen (and inside the Villa) is the vanity, toilet and indoor (regular) bath and shower. The layout of the Villa, as well as the furnishings and decor was all top-notch - the perfect setting to have a lengthy, relaxing stay in the Villa should you opt not to explore the Takachiho area. If there is one minor nitpick, it has to do with the lack of dual sinks,

A long-established inn in the downtown area of Takachiho Town. Bus terminals and Takachiho Shrine from Nobeoka are slopes, but a few minutes walk away. Yamazaki convenience store is also nearby. Although it is a long-established store, you can feel the traces of various renovations. The toilet in the room was small but with a washlet. The difficulty is that there is no elevator. I still want an elevator to go back and forth between the １ floor and ３ floors. On the other hand, although it was dinner, the dishes centered on local dishes were lined up, and the sukiyaki of Miyazaki beef was delicious.

At check-in, I was charged a higher amount than the room rate I confirmed at the time of my phone reservation. When I asked why, I was booking in a single room, but a semi double room was prepared. This was vacant in a single room at the time of the telephone reservation, and it was 5000 yen (tax included) per night, and I made a reservation after confirming that I would accept the reservation. On the other hand, the receptionist said, ”the hotel has not selected the type of room for the customer at the time of booking. Because it is a hotel with a small number of rooms, I will assign a room that is vacant on the day and stay. If it was thought that it was confirmed in a single room, the customer might have been mistaken in the telephone exchange between the hotel staff and the customer. ” If you book a hotel and arrive, you don't know whether it's a room of 5000 yen or a room of 5900 yen, and there are many choices for guests who convince you by such a reservation method. Anyway, this reservation confirmed that there was a vacancy in the single room at the time of the telephone reservation, and I was talking on the phone with the person in charge to make a reservation in the single room. I told you that it was not a mistake here, but I said, ”If you don't like this hotel so much, go there because you will introduce another hotel.” Finally, I was able to refund the difference to seem troublesome, but I was sad that it was a response that did not try to hear the argument at all. As for this, it was a room chosen after comparing multiple inn and reservation method, so it was unbearable that the accommodation fee and the type of room were changed only for the convenience of the hotel. Also, I asked in advance to be able to leave my luggage to arrive in the morning, but when I arrived on the day, there was no one in the lobby and I went out because I was able to use it urgently. Overall: If you go to Tianyanhu, it is recommended to stay here for one night. Not only the location is good, you can see the Tianyanhu Shrine when you open the window. You can also stroll to Tiananheyuan early in the morning to fully enjoy the special local scenery.
