Little Rann Resort

After our visit to Statue of Unity,we headed to Little Rann of Kutch,near Surendranagar,Gujarat,we were very disappointed with the hotel we were booked into,but immediately after calling our very efficient Travel Agent Sujata Joshi of Pleasure Travels,she made our arrangements at Little Rann Resort,in the heart of the Rann.We were pleasantly surprised, as the charm of this resort does not give you the chain hotel vibe.The rooms are spacious and absolutely neat and clean.The simple homely food was awesome.Every need was catered with utmost perfection. I would like to express my Thanks and Appreciation to the following; DIRECTOR - KUNAL BHARADWAJ, / YOUNUS MALLA - NATRURRLIST / AND REST OF THE STAFF - LALJI, SHABANA,RAGHUBHAI,RAJU ,VELA. Must visit as this location is just 5 kms from the Safari Point.

Travelling independently with our own car and driver, we arrived at Little Rann Resort to be greeted warmly by the owner and his staff. Our room was large with a “sit out”, the photos on the website give you the impression that there is road right outside the rooms. It IS, but only for the jeeps to park. NOT a real road !! We were given a delicious lunch, including hot gulag jam for pudding. Too much for us but most welcome. We took one of the jeeps out at 4.30 with four Indian National and a good English speaking driver/guide. Good views for everyone. Saw lots of wild ass and birds. Very peaceful, not a line of vehicles making a disturbance to the wildlife. Went to a salt panning area, and shown how salt is collected by hand. Two families with children working very hard in very austere circumstances. They gave us tea in paper cups which was very welcome. Came back and en route saw large numbers of flamingos and waterfowl. Supper was delicious and served by very smiley local staff. All in all can’t fault the place. Well organised, clean and very friendly. Thank you.

Little Rann of Kutch is very near Ahmedaad, and a good weekend getaway. It's nice, quiet place away from humdrum of the cities. It is home to many species of birds, including migratory, animals and only sanctuary for wild ass in India. It is a vast expanse of dry land, mostly sandy, with a few water bodies. Little Rann Resort is a nice resort run professionally by Kunal, who is a good host. They arrange safaris which are worth taking. The drive through the Rann is invigorating. The drivers of the safari are knowledgeable and act as guides. The rooms are clean and spacious. They provide simple, home like food which is good. It was a nice experience, worth repeating.
