Crowne Plaza Stratford Upon Avon

Stratford-upon-Avon|0.55km from downtown
We stayed at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Stratford for a couple of days. We like to come to the theatre a couple of times a year if we can to see the RSC. Could not miss the opportunity to see All's well that ends well. It's not performed that often. We have stayed in this hotel several times with mixed feelings. We have had great stays and some not so good. This time it was good. It was busy due to several corporate seminars being held at the same time. These seemed well organised and didn't affect our stay. We had booked breakfast for both days. The first morning was busy for breakfast but we where promptly sat at a very nice table overlooking the gardens. It is a full buffy service which was very good. Our waitress Clair was exceptional attentive and very pleasant. This was not the case on the following morning. We again had the table overlooking the garden. Claire the previous day had asked if we would like anything cooked from the kitchen. Boiled or pouched eggs omelette etc. This morning I had to find someone to take my order. I will not name her but, all she had to say was I'll be over in a minute. She came next to our table and set it for the next guests. Ignored us completely. After some time I spoke with a senior member of staff who didn't seem to acknowledge what I was saying, only telling a waiter to get me a pouched egg. Not the best experience I have had at the Crown Plaza. But all's well that ends well.

Stratford Manor Hotel

Stratford Manor Hotel

Stratford-upon-Avon|4.94km from downtown
I booked this hotel for a weekend break to celebrate our friends 40th wedding anniversary, and having read some of the recent reviews I was a tad worried to say the least , so here’s my take and opinion including other reviews . During the booking process and subsequent communication with the reception and booking staff , I can only say it was exceptional and first class . On arrival we were warmly greeted and checked in to our rooms , the approach to the hotel is very nice , reception was spacious and clean . Our two rooms were next door to each other and both were spacious and clean ( no sign of cob webs or dirty items as other reviews has stated ) one of the rooms ( our friends ) did have an issue with one flickering light and one bedside light not working plus only one hand towel. My friend reported this and a Bath towel was supplied straight away ( no hand towel available) and the reception did day she had no maintenance on site , but would endeavour to get the lights addressed the next day , unfortunately this did not happen . However as my friends said it wasn’t the end of the world and didn’t detract from their stay but it would need addressing before new guests used the room . Breakfast was buffet style and was good it had a cooked option , which was replenished quite frequently so sometimes a slight wait for all options to be available but imo didn’t cause an issue and meant all cooked items were fresh, toast, cereal , pastries, fruit juices and teas and coffee all available too. On the Friday we had dinner in the restaurant after pre drinks in the bar . The bar area and drinks were fine albeit some items requested were not available, no Tia Maria , no floater coffees ( post dinner ) , prices were the unusual hotel type prices 20-40% dearer than pubs so no shock there ( other reviews questioned prices ) The dinner in the restaurant was very good, food was a good quality and well prepared and presented ( again based on previous reviews I wasn’t expecting this ) if you read any of my other reviews you will know I am a foodie so I only praise food when it’s justified. Service was good until the dessert ( found out later , some agency staff were used in the restaurant) we ordered a hot desert but wanted ice cream with it as well , so effectively ordered two desserts for three of us , and that seemed to confuse one of the servers who grunted when he only brought out one ice cream dessert , when we asked for the other two , however he was in the minority and the rest of the servers and staff were excellent. On the Saturday evening I had booked a local restaurant for dinner ( see separate review ) and we used the local taxi firm ‘ Chris’s ‘ who is partly retained by the hotel , and he delivered us and collected us from our restaurant at a set hotel rate ( very reasonable). On checking out I had an in-depth discussion with the duty manageress about our experience and how much we had enjoyed it albeit with a couple of hiccups.

Premier Inn Stratford-Upon-Avon Waterways

Stayed here as part of trip to the theatre. The hotel is a gentle 15-20 minutes stroll from the RSC which was perfect. I stayed on the top floor which has just been refurbished into be Premier Plus rooms and my room was fab. The room layout and design worked for me, a great bed, a good room temp (I like it cooler than most places insist on having) and being able to do a spot of work in the early hours . Special call out for the young man on Reception (sadly I have forgotten his name) who was a brilliant example of great customer service, looking after my case when there weren't rooms available to check in early, and being accurate with the time suggested to return to check in. I'd certainly consider staying here again
The Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club

We were made to feel so welcome from the moment we walked into reception. We bid for our stay as part of charity auction. The owners of Stratford park had donated a golf break of a night dinner, bed and breakfast and two rounds of golf in aid of Primrose Hospice. The junior suite is a lovely room, cozy and relaxing with luxury touches. Maz, the restaurant manager was attentive and looked after our every need. He gave great recommendations for food and wine and all was delicious. Golf - lovely course with wide fairways. Again friendly service from all. My challenge was to get over the water on 17th. I didn’t succeed so I will definitely go back.
Burnside Hotel

We spent one night here. The Hotel is in a small village just outside Stratford. There is not much outside space other than parking. A warm welcome at Reception and felt totally safe with the COVID arrangements. The reception area was very clean as was our room (No.1 on the. ground floor). Indeed you would have thought it was a brand new room. The facilities in the room were excellent. Large TV with Movie channels. The walk-in shower was very clean. We ate in the Saddles Bar and the food was excellent. The breakfast service was great and the food was top quality. I have tried to find something to find fault with but I can't. Even the price was very reasonable.
The Old Coffee Tavern
4.3/575 Reviews
Stayed here for 1 night - 30th December as a couple. The Old Coffee Tavern is very central and a short walk from the castle. It's a middle-sized pub, with an open kitchen in the back that looks a bit odd and a slightly cramped bar but is clean and not too rowdy. We took a twin room right at the top with a shower room. It was nice, with a view over the town, and was clean and tidy with nice decor and all the bits and pieces you'd expect. If I were to be picky, I'd say the mini bar was both a bit noisy and also a bit superfluous, perched on a table as it was. The beds were clean and comfy and there was adequate storage. Breakfast in the morning came with attentive service, plenty of tea and coffee, and lots of choices. It was pretty good. All in all, then, this was a very nice place to stay in the heart of Warwick.
Travelodge Stratford Upon Avon

The location on Birmingham Road provided easy access to the charming sights of Stratford-upon-Avon, making it a convenient base for exploring the town. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, offering a good night's sleep after a day of sightseeing. The staff Mr. Rejo was friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with any needs or inquiries. Overall, it offered great value for a pleasant and hassle-free stay in a historic location.

I arrived at around 11:30am on the day of check in to see if I could check in early, which is advertised as being from 11am, if available. I was told ”you're a bit early” 😂 I was advised the rooms weren't ready, which was fine as I am aware it's not always possible, but that made me chuckle and my bags were kindly taken from me to pick up later. Check in was smooth, the rooms were perfect, clean a a good temperature in the room, couldn't have been better. Breakfast was just ok, I think the fact it's only a small restaurant doesn't help them, as it looks busier than it actually is, I have to say some cooked items were not available and took a while to be replenished, which isn't up to standard with other premier inns. Dinner - the food is great, I can't fault it and much better than other premier inn's I have stayed out, however the service is a let down. We were left waiting a long time between courses, and the first night when I didn't get the meal deal I was waiting 20 mins for the bill to come, I just got up and waited by the till to pay myself as I was being ignored. I think they should operate an order and pay at the bar system like other premier inns, they don't have enough staff for an effective table service. The location is good, plenty of parking and a 10 minute bus ride into town. I would recommend staying here and would advise, don't attempt an early check in, buy the meal deal in advance so you're not left waiting for the bill and be prepared to wait a long time between courses at dinner.
