A long-established hot spring inn near the stone steps of Ikaho Onsen. It has a reputation for warm hospitality. The characteristic is that there are two entrances, and you can enter from the stone steps side as well as the usual entrance. In many inns, there are many movements in the building with slippers, but since the whole building is tatami mats, you can walk barefoot in the building. The food was delicious and the amount was appropriate. The bathhouse was also large enough to relax. On the other hand, although it is a family saying because it is a good inn, there were some staff who were still developing in their behavior. I would like to expect that I will grow up as a good staff with good teaching from my predecessors. There was also a machine in the room for massage of my feet. I think the massage machine after the bath is cleaned frequently, but I was a little worried about the sanitary condition of the machine in the room. Because it is a thankful consideration, I think that it was able to use it more comfortably if there was a display such as ”cleaned”.

With its location along the famous stone stairs and its access to abundant ”golden hot spring water”, one can easily tell this is a long-established hotel in Ikaho. And this is the reason for my choosing to stay here since it is not easy to find onsen hotels that offer ”natural flowing water” nowadays (onsen water will be ”recycled” in many hotels). If one's purpose for coming to Ikaho is for their good water, Kishigo will be a good choice because they have three hot spring baths, and I particularly like the one detached from the main building, i.e. Open-Air Bath Gonzaemon no Yu. I got a Western style room with view of the stone stairs, nothing fancy, but I do not mind. As a solo traveller, I was not given the choice of dining at the hotel when making the booking. It worried me a bit at first since I always enjoy having traditional Japanese dinner in onsen hotels; and with this being my first visit to Ikaho, I did not even know if there is any restaurant in the area (shops in most onsen towns close at 5pm or earlier). It worked out all right in the end for there are restaurants, and I went to one that is just a minute's walk from the hotel. Dining out also meant I had more flexibility in spending time on a stroll around the area and relaxing in the hot springs.

Of course, I will not deny my confirmation mistake, but as long as it is the material handed over to Yahari customers, I would like you to take all possible measures. This is the reason why I dropped one star. The food, customer service, cleanliness of the room and above all, the room bath was what my wife was pleased with. He said that the bath in the early morning snow was the best. It's an inn that you definitely want to visit again.

When you arrive, park your car and check into the lobby alone. The elderly front desk staff responded and carefully explained how to use the facilities. Return to the car and move to the log house where you will stay. The road is wide enough for one car to pass. The log house is two stories and has 5 beds. There is a toilet with a washlet, a separate bath, a mini kitchen with an electromagnetic range, a microwave oven, and a small refrigerator. There is a table for four and a terrace. There was one double outlet in each room. There is a TV and free Wi-Fi. Although it was in the mountains, there were no insects inside the log house, it was clean, and there were pet supplies (dog toilet, rice and water bowl, deodorant spray, roller, plastic bag). It was a comfortable stay. There is no roof in the passage between the parking lot and the log house, so when it rains, there is an umbrella at the entrance of the log house, so you can use it to carry your luggage. You can walk to the main building or drive to the public bath and dining room. A car is good on rainy days. When you leave your pet in the log house and go out to eat, bring a cage and put it in and go out, or leave it in the car. The large public bath is a hot spring with an open-air bath and an indoor bath, so it was spacious and relaxing. Sauna is closed due to Corona. It was a meal plan, but when I was checking in at 5:30 pm and carrying my luggage, it was time to eat. I couldn't do it slowly and I was busy. I wish it was a little more flexible. As for the meal, the roast beef is prepared in advance and the meat is dry and disappointing. The beech meat and vegetable stir-fried on the copper plate was warmed with solid fuel, so it was delicious. Appetizers, sashimi, and boiled dishes were delicious. The ingredients of the soup are dry ingredients and the soup stock is not absorbed, and the taste of the soup stock is not delicious. The contents are good for the price, but I would like the quality of the food to be a little better. Breakfast was a buffet, which was satisfying.
