The hotel is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that is a hotel that It was a quite long journey, as we travel from the city of La Romana, 1.22 km (1-hora, 42 minutes). Since we arrived at the hotel, the gentleman's attitude at reception was negative, I treat us as if we were to stay free at the hotel, when we are checking in, The hotel is a very good hotel, and we have a very good hotel, and we have a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel, a good hotel The matter is that one of these rooms was for a child under 5 years of age, or an adult could not be in that room. We returned to reception to ask for another adult room, because the miss was the hotel, but it was really a bad moment, they treated us as animals, the young man at reception,(which never wanted to tell us his name), I lift our voice, I suggest we cancel the reservation, that he didn't want us at the hotel. Now that we see the situation is getting warmer, we asked to talk to a superior, with some manager and he told us there was no one, The hotel was the only person in charge. It was really a scandal, and even more customers were and went for the bad treatment they made us pass, you can imagine already at the end of the year, where we supposed to wait for the year in peace and harmony, it was a trouble. We had to change from hotel, because for the bad treatment and because no one could resolve us, we could and wanted to stay in that hotel. I wish I could get up on the video of the bad treatment that the young man gave us at reception, and the bad moment at the end of the year. I don't recommend it to anyone, except the rooms are very small, almost no air feeling, and you lack air conditioning, lack of painting and remodelling. The hotel has to make its staff more comfortable, I speak for the young man of the reception I receive, who never gave us his name, which I think is a lack of respect.

Hostal Nicolas de Ovando Santo Domingo - MGallery Collection

This absolutely gorgeous hotel in Santo Domingo's historic colonial zone is the perfect home base for your visit to the Dominican Republic! The beds were comfortable (with very fine linens) and rooms were spacious, and the staff friendly, helpful and efficient. In particular we thought Hector the doorman/maletero, Clara at breakfast and Dilcia with security went above and beyond. Cannot remember the names of the lovely women at the front desk when we checked in, but they were also wonderful. The breakfast buffet was not only delicious, but there was a wide variety-something for everyone-without sacrificing several traditional Dominican breakfast foods (which we love and find are often left off hotel menus.) We even got a complimentary tour of the historic hotel and surrounds-the icing on the cake!
Hodelpa Caribe Colonial

Stayed here as part of a medical service trip to the DR so we had 6 rooms for one night each at the beginning and end of the trip. We were welcomed with a warmth that is typical for the DR but there were a couple of problems on initial check in. Note that, like many hotels, not all rooms have two double beds and this was an issue for us, since our volunteers share rooms. This took some time and resulted in four of us being walked to another, nearby Hodelpa. Note that, even if you reserve a specific type of room, it pays to double check availability if this is important. There is a small, well managed parking lot at the hotel but the emphasis is on small. If you arrive by car, as we did, they will take your keys so they can move cars in and out of the tight space. There is a pay to park parking lot a couple of blocks away should the hotel spaces be full. The cost for this is nominal. Reception is airy and comfortable, with places for people to sit whilst other members check in. Once checked in, the rooms are accessed via a stairwell or a tiny elevator that reminds me of those one finds in Parisian hotels of a certain age. No room for more than 3 people, fewer with luggage. Also, the stairs seem to finish on the third floor despite there being rooms on the 4th! When you reach the top of the stairs on the third floor, you need to turn right, and double back on your self to find the stairs that lead to the 4th. Trust me, this is not intuitive! The rooms are functional but clean and comfortable. The bed in which I slept allowed for a great night's sleep and all was quiet which is a boon in SD which can be someone noisy especially in the evenings. I am not sure all rooms would be similarly quiet, but the street on which the hotel sits is relatively peaceful despite its proximity to the colonial center. Breakfast is provided and was excellent indeed. Plenty of choice and well staffed. There is a small patio area outside which is the pick of the available places to eat breakfast I reckon. Good choice of hot and cold foods were offered. Upon check out we were charged for eating a packet of ”Cheese-Its” from the room, which we had not consumed. One of the most annoying things in a hotel is having to argue you had NOT done something, especially taking things from the minibar, which I almost never do due to the high price of said items. I hate it when hotels make these phantom charges and, frankly, it happens about 30-40% of the time in hotels and necessitates an argument where one has to prove oneself innocent. Tiresome, even if it is only a few dollars each time. However, I would stay here again, it is a great base for the colonial center and very good value too.
Colonial 154 H Boutique

I really don‘t like to get personal, but the breakfast lady at Colonial 154H Hotel either doesn‘t like her job, serving people or getting up early. It’s not about components, language problems, speed or timing. I’m a rather patients guest (I hope;-)). it‘s about hospitality, general friendliness and lack of trying... Anyway, on the third day I just found myself a different breakfast location and rather payed extra (go to the main square in front of the cathedral - good breakfast, price and service!)... This Hotel is actually a lovely little oasis in the middle of the colonial quarter with (small but) nicely decorated rooms and friendly/competent staff. So if you can get a reservation that does not include breakfast, I highly recommend Colonial 154H, if not, check other options...

This hotel is in the perfect location right in the middle of the Zona colonia. We paid to upgrade to a king suite with a balcony. This is an essential if your staying in this hotel as the view makes up for everything. The view from the balcony was spectacular facing the city hall and right on the main square. The room was clean and comfortable however few small issues. The rooms have very thin walls so we could hear even the television from the neighbouring room. Some banging/construction work early morning so noisy. Lack of a kettle for tea/coffee no cups or glasses and no shower gel only small soaps. hotel has a beautiful cafe downstairs. Staff was friendly, Nori at reception was lovely and the location is probably one of the best in the entire zone. Hotel is just at the start of the main shopping street and easy walk around the zona colonia, small train at the end of the street takes you around if you don’t want to walk.

Based on the photos and reviews, we booked 2 nights to visit the colonial district and Santo Domingo. Bad surprise just when we arrived in the hotel area, we would have asked the taxi not to leave us there...but hey, we're going back. Friendly welcome and clean lobby. For the room it's something else, a box with a porthole, an uncomfortable bed and a bathroom of 1.5 m square, so small that they cut the door to accommodate the edge of the sink. We go out, it stinks, it's dirty and we get attacked from all sides, frankly we really don't feel safe, we quickly check out the spots to see and we go back. Horrible night, noisy and poorly attended hotel, well unless you want company..., barking all night, smells... we barely slept! We had informed that we would not stay the 2 nights, the manager acted surprised and obviously did not offer us any compensation for the second paid night... in short I could continue, but it's not worth it, go elsewhere , I will leave it there
