5/5 - My family of six stayed here for four nights and had the best time. Mariposa coordinated everything for us (transport from BZE; two excursions (Caracol and ATM (both highly recommended)), transport and pickup for a day trip into San Ignacio, meal package (breakfast and dinner), and transport back to Belize City to head to San Pedro. The entire staff was great, but Robbie was the face of our stay - he was great. You can tell that everyone here really cares about your family having a great time. The property is gorgeous and peaceful. We stayed in the Iguana lodge (2 BR/2 BA and it was fine for our family of six). Pool area was great. Food and drinks were fantastic - very personalized.

The staff at Mariposa took great care of my family. Our kids are 7,10, &. 12. They made it super fun and easy for them. Tours were perfect length of time and personal. Cabins were super clean / good ac and showers. Loved swimming in late afternoons. Fantastic food as well. Property is like a garden

Ideal location to be based at while visiting the San Ignacio area. Spotlessly clean, comfortable cabins. Beautiful, well-maintained grounds and pool area. Friendly, attentive staff (including reception, restaurant and housekeeping). An absolute highlight is the food! We purchased a breakfast and dinner meal plan and we got to enjoy a series of amazing, perfectly cooked meals. The chef designed the menu according to our dietary requirements and food preferences and exceeded all our expectations. We went as a group of 11 people, including 5 children, and everyone raved about the food. A few minor improvements that could be made are changing towels more frequently. Guests are encouraged to reuse bathroom and pool towels for environmental reasons, but the high humidity climate makes it impossible for them to dry and after a day they tend to smell. We left our wet pool towels on the cabin floor to signal we wanted them changed, only to find them again folded on the coffee table (but still drenched!). Also the hefty 10 USD per person fee to use the sauna was a disappointment. Finally, the tours offered by Mariposa are expensive and we were able to arrange them for a much cheaper price by booking them directly with the suppliers (including transfers). If you can, you should rent a car to explore the area as taxis are expensive. Nonetheless, we highly recommend Mariposa and we would gladly return for another stay in the future. Thank you Mariposa staff for making our stay so pleasant!

Our 4 night mother-daughter stay at Mariposa wasn’t just a stay at an eco-lodge, it was an experience that was our sanctuary to end 2023 and welcome 2024. Nestled among the canopy of trees, our cabana was a comfortable and spacious haven of handcrafted charm. The true magic of Mariposa lies in the genuine warmth and helpfulness of its staff. They made us feel like cherished guests in our sub-tropical home. From the reservation process to our departure and after, Gladimir, Vanessa, Chef Norma, Robelvi, and the owner Paul, attended to every detail that made our first trip to Belize exceptional. From arranging transportation to and from our destinations to excursions to Mayan archeological sites, an adventure of a lifetime at Achtun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave, a sunset happy hour with butterflies, and hiking the trail around Mariposa, every experience was a chance to connect with the history and people of Belize. The food at Mariposa was amazing, a vibrant tapestry of flavors that was as beautiful as they were delicious, displaying fresh local ingredients. Our stay at Mariposa was the perfect introduction to our first visit to Belize. The lodge is a sanctuary for an escape from the ordinary and a connection to the natural world.

Our family just returned from 3 nights at the Mariposa Jungle Lodge. It wound up being the perfect place for our family of 4. The lodge has a pool, outdoor ping pong table and fooseball table. Also several trails to explore on the property. There is also a yoga platform and birdwatching tower. When we weren't relaxing at the lodge there were several tour options. We visited the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich and went canoeing in a nearby cave. This was all arranged through the lodge, making it very stressfree and easy. The food was amazing and the staff was friendly and very helpful. I'll admit it was hard to leave!

Exquisite, lush jungle setting. Excellent food, we opted for the a la carte option (vs 3 meals per day meal plan) which was perfect as we were out touring most days. Staff was extremely helpful in booking us fabulous tours of the area (Tikal, ATM cave) as well as all airport transfers. Would recommend--and stay again!

My husband and I spent a week at this exquisitely appointed eco-lodge for our first trip to Belize. We are SO happy with every element of the experience, including the decision to have a driver pick us up from the airport in Belize City and bring us to the lodge (instead of renting a car). The excursions from the lodge with knowledgeable guides and expert drivers are really worth it. We LOVED the ATM cave tour, Barton Creek cave canoeing, Xunantunich Mayan ruins, and Caracol Mayan ruins with stops at the very cool Rio Frio cave, Rio on Pools, and a swim at Big Rock falls. Our driver and guide for most of our excursions was Amin, who is the perfect blend of super knowledgeable (!), dependable, and easy going. We love that he shared personal experiences from his Mayan culture. The lodge is situated in a jungle paradise with a hiking trail around the perimeter, a yoga deck, a bird watching tower (download the Merlin app and identify birds by sound!!!), a spa and sauna, a pool with a cascading fountain (perfect for relaxing), and games to enjoy in an open air/thatched roof space (ping pong, foosball, board games, etc.). There is a limited number of rooms which allows for a personalized experience. Our room had spectacular jungle scenes painted by a local artist on the walls around the bed, and wonderful wood carvings on the doors and furniture (also by a local woodworker). There was a kitchenette but we didn’t use it much as Chef Norma prepared fantastic customized meals that wowed us each day. It was fine without a car as we did an excursion every other day and relaxed on the “off” days. On one “day off” I took a shuttle to San Ignacio (just $10 U.S.), toured the Green Iguana Conservation Project (located in the San Ignacio hotel) and visited the AJAW chocolate factory, then took the local 1:15p bus from San Ignacio to San Antonio & paid the driver a bit more to take us to the mile or so farther to the Mariposa lodge (you could easily walk from San Antonio, or get a taxi from San Ignacio instead of the bus … or do the guided San Ignacio tour - point here is that there are options to explore beyond the lodge if you don’t have a car). We HIGHLY recommend this jewel of a place; the staff is top notch, the ambience inspires and relaxes, and the locale offers the best of inland Belize’s culture, natural beauty, and outdoor adventures.

Beautiful location. Easy access to all the sites in the area. Staff were great. My family had some dietary restrictions, and the food was incredible. They really go out of their way to make your stay special.

Our extended family (grandparents, aunt, and our family) stayed at the lodge for 5 nights. This is longer than other people stayed (many people seemed to stay just one to 3 nights for the regional adventures). The service at the hotel is excellent. We changed our plan almost daily because various kids got sick at different times (ear infections, nothing linked to the hotel) and they were always extremely accommodating. I had expected we would either have to cancel fully and be left with no plans for the day, but that was never the case. The food, including veg, was very good and different every day. For new years they had a small party. The pool area had ping pong and foozball. The wifi works very well, and there was a small lounge with games and a TV. The rooms were comfortable, and we saw wild toucans of various types just outside our door. This is a great hotel!
