Duke of Richmond Hotel

We can only but recommend this 4-star hotel in St. Peter Port. The excellent service and attention to detail was outstanding. As a guest you really felt "special"and extremely well looked after. Especially Janina at the front desk and Helen (deputy manager) went the extra mile to make our stay extra memorable when they found us another, more quiet room after we mentioned that the one we had booked was quite noisy during the night (some ventilation system running the whole night which prevented us from opening a window at night). This really made or 6-night stay one to remember as this meant an upgrade to the room category we had initially booked at not extra charge. Staff at the restaurant also were very attentive and were looking after us very well. The food was excellent and we were looking forward to dinner every day. To be honest, we enjoyed it more than a dinner we had at a Miichelin Star Place on Jersey... If we decided to travel to Guernsey again we know which hotel we would book.

Treated like royalty by the staff from the moment of arrival Bedrooms extremely comfortable and Luxurious spaces to relax eg the terrace above the pool that looks out over gardens and down to the sea Food first rate. Unparalleled choice of breakfast delights. Nothing too much trouble for thoroughly attentive Nicolas and Sharone and their colleagues. Thank you. We will be back again, soon I hope.

An excellent hotel, part of the Red Carnation chain. A four star establishment. My wife and I stayed for 5 nights while in Guernsey and had a very good experience. Our room on the top, 4th floor was roomy and in excellent condition. Everything clean and in good order. It was a King double. A double bed is standard although conversion to twins is available on request. Bathroom with bathtub, shower over. All good. The staff were very good, friendly and efficient and always ready to help at all times. There is no in room fridge. Tea and coffee making kit in place. Safe. Decent A/C and heating. You will be given a conventional room key with a huge fob! Hand it in when leaving! There are stairs to access the lobby but a ramp also if required. There is an outside pool open from May. Heated to a resonable degree, but to taste. You will have to sign a disclaimer to use the pool that is accessed via a locked gate down from the sun terrace. Key at reception. The Leopard bar adjacent to the restaurant is a pleasant place to have a pre dinner cocktail. It is not over staffed so be patient at busy times. Bathrobes and slippers provided in room. The bathrobes are the most luxurious we have ever encountered worl wide! 100% cotton, thick and excellent quality! Availabe to purchase also and you may be tempted! Breakfast was included in our deal. Choice of continetnal and full cooked to order. Excellent choice of cooked options from Full English to kippers, eggs a dozen ways etc! Restaurant has an extended conservatory area that is light and airy and opens onto the sun terrace. Service was excellent. Also decent coffee! Difficult to see that anyone could not find something to like! The hotel is well located adjacent to a nice park, but is in an elevated postion from the town/harbour so about a 15/20 minute uphill walk. There is a #31 bus from the harbour that brings you quite close to the hotel so avoids the walk! Check out time is 11AM. Luggage storage readily available. if required. We would have no issues in returning to this hotel!

Exceptional Hotel. From the very first impression of a wonderful hotel team to the last impression we were so impressed. Quality was apparent throughout our stay. The bedrooms, beds, linen and food was a very high quality. The decor was a little eclectic which added to the very positive experience. We would strongly recommend the Duke of Richmond and Guernsey for a place to stay and a wonderful location.

The plusses 1. The quality of the bedding , towels, robes and slippers was fantastic. 2. Service from the staff on reception. The minuses 1. The hotel decor which was bizarre to say the least, a cross between glass furniture, heavy wallpaper, dark chandeliers and striped carpets. Prints that look like Miro on the walls next to prints by Lowrie?? 2. The service in the restaurant which varied between slow and virtually non existent. Breakfasts consisted of staff wandering around with food/drinks trying to work out who had ordered them. 3. The bar service. Woe betide you if you ventured down for a pre dinner drink. There were lots of staff to be seen in the bar/restaurant areas, all far too busy to actually give you any service. If you actually finally did manage to get served your chances of getting some nibbles to go with your drinks were debatable to say the least. As for chances of getting a second drink, well ……

Our stay in Guernsey was lovely, and made all the more special at the Duke of Richmond. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable and drinks and food delicious. I will happily return to the hotel the next time I am in guernsey, and recommend it to anyone visiting.

Today we had afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday with 7 friends. The staff were amazing and attentive and so friendly. They could not accommodate us enough. The afternoon tea was exceptional, such wonderful variety of sandwiches and tasty sausage roll! The scones were delicious and so freshly made with jam & cream. The cakes to finish were delicious! This afternoon tea was the nicest we'd ever had, the champagne complimented it too!

Fantastic stay! I had high expectations but the DOR went far beyond these. The room was beautiful and spacious with lots of great amenities and snacks with a nice view too! The staff were all extremely friendly and really went out of their way to make it a memorable stay, even delivering a welcome treat to my room after I spent a night on Sark. Breakfast was plentiful and I ate in the restaurant twice and both meals were delicious. Will definitely return!
