Our family group stayed here for a wedding, taking all the rooms for 2 nights & having dinner on 1 of them. It was superb: - the staff’s attitudes were terrific (at a time when good staff can be so hard to find) and nothing was too much trouble; - the rooms are beautifully & elegantly furnished (we were in Golding, which was large, comfortable and at the back of the building. An extractor fan operated 24/7 not far outside, so ask for a room elsewhere if that might bother you but it wasn’t a problem for us); - the bar and dining area are similarly decorated in a comfortable country Inn style; - the food was excellent, good ingredients, skilfully cooked and well presented; - the wine list, beers (including the outstanding Harvey’s Best) and gin selection was extensive; - the little village is lovely, as is the countryside around Penshurst. All in all, from cleaners to owners, everyone was friendly, polite and helpful and clearly cared about the Leicester Arms. A wonderful weekend.

First time we had been there since complete refurbishment and new owner. Beautifully done, decent car park, outside eating areas( far too cold and wet yesterday!). Not large menu (good!). Excellent variety, freshly cooked and lovely young waitress who could have been more pleasant and helpful.

We had a wonderful evening meal with my elderly mum and her friends at the Leicester Arms. All the staff (and particularly the manager from the Netherlands!) couldn't have been more helpful and the food was just delicious. We will definitely be back very soon.

Poor stay also the two men running it one of them was on ramsays kitchen nightmares Lawrence who was running la parra restaurant in Spain which was a joke and can see he hasn’t learnt much from it as the experience at the pub wasn’t anything to write home about average food at above average prices

The perfect spot for a night away from the city, in a beautiful village. The decor of the pub and rooms are stunning. We stayed in the Rosemary room. Both the room and bathroom were so spacious and the bed was so comfy! It was very hard to get up in the morning to check out! The food was incredible, we had dinner on the Saturday night and then a roast on the Sunday, which was amazing. The staff were so kind and knowledgeable and nothing was too much for them. We will definitely be back in the summer to make the most of the outdoor space and of course to have more of the delicious cookies they leave in the room. They were incredible and such a lovely touch.

Staff, service and food were exceptional! Thank you for making it such a wonderful experience! We will definitely be back. The set lunch was great value, we were made to feel very welcome by every member of staff. The food was amazing as was the wine list. Really impressed.

I stayed at the Leicester Arms for 2 nights, the newly refurbished rooms were beautiful and very comfortable, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Do not hesitate in booking. The pub has a lovely relaxed feel to it and the locals are lovely. Thank you for making me feel so welcome. Ceri

Dreadful . Dirty . 400 year old building , i agree - but should not include 400 years of dust . Carpet not hoovered on the stairs leading up to rooms . Bedroom carpet not hoovered prior to our arrival . Leaves and rolled up foil on the floor . Stained quilt. Bathroom floor not swept. Inch thick dust on kettle . Do not recommend this place . Continental breakfast only option . Greeted by a very loud forceful woman / waitress . We were too scared to ask for a second coffee.

Our party had booked The Leicester Arms out for the weekend of our wedding at Penshurst Place. We booked the private dining room for the evening before the event and the food was delicious. The next day there was a hiccup with opening up for breakfast but this was sorted very quickly with communication from the pub's events manager Rod, to Laurence the owner, who came and opened up and went above and beyond when our wedding had ended by coming to pick some of us up from the venue and securing a late license for the bar so we could continue our celebrations well into the night. Couldn't fault his service and hospitality. We also loved his dogs! A couple of the facilities in the rooms may need updating (one of our guests' toilet wasn't secured properly and another had problems with hot water) so don't expect complete luxury, more of a 'rough around the edges' feel. However, overall this is a beautiful hotel, conveniently located in the centre of the village and with lots of historical charm.
