Though the hotel is located a few hundred meters off the road around Lake Myvatn, it is perfectly located for visiting its main attractions. The owner (a former chef) is incredible friendly and helpful. It is great to experience his passion about good cooking/kitchen stuff (coffee machine!) which he freely offers his guests to use. Sitting on the sofa in the main room was very relaxing. Would have loved to stay here for longer than just one night ! Will definitely come back when being in Iceland.

We enjoyed our stay at Birkilauf. It is conveniently located with parking. The room was a nice size with a great bed. The place had a washer but was not able to use because other guests here were doing their laundry. The owner mentioned he would have out cake and bread for the guests but always seemed to be gone when we were there. Stayed 3 nights.

The man running the guesthouse communicated well in advance and sent us a payment link early so we didn’t need to think about it on holiday. When we arrived he was welcoming, friendly, had cooked us fresh bread and banana cake. They had fast internet, a kitchen stocked for breakfast, and he told us where all the best places in the area were. Fantastic place to stay!

The common room and kitchen are very impressive and the host is enthusiastic and welcoming baking bread for the guests and providing tips . It's well located in myvatn . The rooms are not very soundproof which wasn't a problem for us as the other guests were quiet . The rooms are nice and the showers warm . Parking available

One of the nicest places we have stayed in. The host had fresh baked bread and cake for us. The gourmet kitchen was a dream with the best organization for the guests with fresh eggs, butter and milk. The coffee set up was dreamy with ever option available. The room had a fabulously comfortable bed and modern bathroom with these cool round corner shower doors that folded in giving extra space when not using the shower. The location truly could not be beat with a perfect view of Hverfall the cider cone volcano mountain. But without a doubt the greatest part of the stay was the care by the host who not only made sure we were comfortable, had multiple cups of hot coffee but also had an infectious passion for the area and Iceland in general. He shared his knowledge truly enriching our experience! Hope to return!

Nous avons reçu un accueil sympathique. L’environnement de la guesthouse est magnifique. La chambre est simple, confortable, avec du rangement. Le gros plus, c’est l’immense espace salon, salle à manger, cuisine, à disposition des hôtes. Avec un lave-linge. Terrasse pour les beaux jours. Petits détails négatifs: dans la salle de bain, il manquait un dérouleur pour le papier wc et une barre pour les serviettes.

Une superbe maison de famille. Notre chambre était spacieuse avec une belle salle de bains. La cuisine est toute équipée et il y a également un très bon lave-linge/sèche-linge. Très belle terrasse avec barbecue. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié notre hôte pour sa disponibilité et ses informations sur l'histoire, la culture et les visites environnantes. Il a également plein d'attentions pour ses invités : pain frais et gâteaux maison chaque jour et le frigo est garni pour le petit déjeuner avec oeufs, lait, beurre, confitures, fromage. Sans compter le thé et le café (du vrai) à disposition. Tout cela rend le prix justifié.
Nous recommandons vivement cette adresse.
D'autres part la situation au centre de toutes les richesses de la région justifie bien d'y rester 2 jours. MYVATN et ses environs sont MAGNIFIQUES.
