Comfort Inn Redding Near I-5

Redding|2.75km from Lema Ranch
Front desk staff was nice enough to let us know that the hotel was used by workers from different companies that did construction and tree trimming. We were fine with that until we got to the parking lot where they were hanging out with extremely loud mariachi music. The front desk said they were putting us away from the area the workers stay because of complaints they get about how loud they are. They are now housed mainly on the 1st floor to minimize the noise from their drinking and partying. We could not hear any of that from our upper level room. We did have a concern about our vehicle being broken into because of the number of people hanging out in the parking lot partying. The room was not in great shape. We had to get the sheets changed because they clearly they had not been changed. There were crumbs in the bed and dirt on the pillowcase. We were told they were not changed because they are short-staffed. The bathroom door was nearly impossible to close and was badly chipped up from prior guests having that same problem we assume. The bathroom faucet handle was disgusting and caked/imbedded with dirt or mold. The wooden toilet seat was badly chipped with lots of paint missing. When we went to leave in the morning, two young men were roughhousing at the front of our vehicle and really hitting each other hard. We were concerned it would escalate into a full blown fight. We were intending to stay at the hotel for two days, but that definitely did not happen. We checked out immediately in the morning. We will NEVER stay at this hotel again.

The hotel is good, but the price changes a lot. This year, Ctrip has a number of agents called slow, like to engage in low-cost tricks, do not indicate or not directly indicate service fees, vacation fees, etc., eventually low prices become high, should be kept away from avoiding.

Better than expected, especially the indoor pool. Children in winter are also very happy. Breakfast is quite normal. The room is super large. There is a suite with a sofa. The two large beds are also very comfortable. Hotel location is also good, driving 10 minutes is Wal-Mart target various big shopping malls
Sheraton Redding Hotel at the Sundial Bridge

Chose this location due to the best ratings on trip advisor. It's adjacent to a park with the Sundial Bridge, which was fun to walk to after dinner. The hotel itself seemed well cared for and comfortable. I felt the room was quite clean, though we notice a 'missed' french fry under one of the beds. Overall was a good experience since we were just travelling through Redding. Will also comment that the person at the front desk seemed to be training someone; she seemed to scoot that trainee away and help us herself, but she did not have very good customer service skills for what I would expect in this level of hotel. Did not volunteer any information, did not ask us how we were, seemed only to want to do the minimum and be done with us.

I made a reservation through Booking.com at this Roadway Inn in Redding for my daughter and granddaughter for 6/6-7 but they were unable to get to the motel tonight so I canceled the reservation through Austin. He canceled and verified there would be no cancellation fee and to let Booking.com know I canceled. I did that and they told me they would charge me a one night cancellation fee. I asked through an option on their website that there would be no cancellation fee and they said I had to ask the property to waive that fee. I did so and they were unaware that they had to verify with Booking.com so I called Austin back. He again was most helpful and left information for his boss since he is not working Monday. I will double check with Roadway Inn tomorrow to make sure I’m not charged a cancel fee. All this information is to let Roadway Inn Redding know that they have a valuable, well trained employee in Austin and that he offers his customers superior customer service. He deserves a raise and lots of praise. Thanks Austin. Sue Bartlett
