I knew it was going to be basic, I never expected it be this small room right at the top, no air from window. Pillows seen better days. Have asked for 2 more for later. Hardly slept, room too hot despite heating off and window open. Not soundproof as advertised and description given by *********** completely off the scale. When I point it out to the staff member on arrival he thought I was joking, I showed him the message, and he took a screen shot of it. Shower is good but very hard as there was no where to hang your clothes so they got wet. The loo roll got wet as well as no screen. ( No room for one anyway). No sink is available to wash plates after breakfast. Fridge in reception very small. Room has no mirror, not bedside table to put things on, no hooks. Quite disappointed. Staff friendly

We stayed a single night in December 2023. We chose to stay at the hotel after looking at the impressive website often quoting “luxury” bathrooms and beds and also reading the mainly glowing online reviews. We therefore decided to pay more to stay at the Woodford and in hindsight perhaps we set our expectations much too high…. Firstly, it must be said that the staff we dealt with were very welcoming and friendly. Our double room was very basic and small and reeked of cigarette smoke. The wardrobe was damaged, uneven and unsightly. Unfortunately, we were woken up a few times overnight; either by the noise of other patrons going to the toilet or the automatic light in the hall coming on (shining beneath our door). My tip is to read the description fully and be aware that there is a shared bathroom (between 3 rooms) on the ground floor, unfortunately I didn’t appreciate that before booking; so be prepared to wait particularly at busy times! Sadly, we found nothing “luxurious” about this hotel, quite the contrary.

Booked a Deluxe Double room with an en-suite bathroom. Room was ok, but the bathroom was extremely small. No mirror with a tiny sink that made it impractical to use. Could not use the sink to shave or clean teeth. Couldn't close the bathroom door if using the toilet (see attached photo).
However really friendly staff and easy check in/ out. Ok for one night stopover.

Outstanding hotel. Staff are very friendly. comfortable beds and cosy bedroom. Check in was very easy and they offered to even hold my luggage after check out. Very nice restaurants all within walking distance. Felt like a home away from home.

Warm, friendly welcome to a recently refurbished hotel. Small, basic rooms which are spotlessly clean. Stayed in single with en suite : small but spotless bathroom, good hot shower. Really comfortable bed! Hot drinks available in lounge area 24/7, together with microwave and fridge. Lounge has sofas and tables : food can be ordered in/brought with you and reheated. Every member of staff, from reception to the cleaning staff, is warm and welcoming! Rooms have TV, bed, small cupboard/wardrobe. No tea/coffee facilities in rooms, but that's not a bad thing-(a quick Google about hotel room kettles will horrify you!). Quiet residential street with little to no noise. Outside smoking area with tables to relax.
For a decent breakfast recommend the Soul Stop Cafe, a 5 minute walk towards the station. Superb!
This is not the Ritz: but it is a decent hotel, fairly priced to which we will return.
