W Costa Navarino

This is a very special place. Neither my wife nor I tend to prefer resorts. But we were drawn to the Romanos at Costa Navarino the first year it opened (2010) and were very much taken in by the combination of elegance and attention to detail. We have visited there many times. So this was our first stay at the "W". A very different "vibe" (which is a word used early and often in the experience. In fact, we started joking that they should rebrand it as the "Double-Vibe". The double vibe is a combination of relaxed and intimate. Everything about the place is chill -- from the easy mood music to the low-lying nature of the experience (no building taller than 3 levels). In a very flat landscape, they managed to give everyone either a view of water or easy access to water. And everything is so tastefully done, from the room decor to the very high quality of the food. I mean, they roast their own coffee beans. The intimacy comes from the fact that the common spaces tend to not have more than 15-20 tables in a cluster. That makes you feel as though you're in a tiny place. Okay, maybe TripleVibe is more accurate, because the place is also fun! As in, tongue in cheek fun. Bath floor mats that say "STEP". Large water bottles in the room that say "This one's on us." Waiters and hosts who want to joke about the experience of being there. And that doesn't even mention the golf, which is the reason we came. But it's not why we're coming back.

As I write this review, I am halfway through a two-week stay at this beautiful hotel. The property is undeniably of a high standard, and the aesthetics are quite breathtaking. My status as a lifetime platinum member was recognized with a generous room upgrade, which was a pleasant and much-appreciated gesture. Despite the grandeur of the property, I've noticed that the service does not consistently align with the expectations of a 5-star establishment, particularly in the areas of breakfast service and housekeeping. The wait staff at breakfast are undoubtedly friendly and approachable, which makes for a warm and welcoming atmosphere each morning. However, there seems to be a lack of coordination, and at times, common sense seems to be missing. For instance, the simple act of ordering a coffee can become a prolonged affair, which can be quite exasperating for guests ready to start their day. The other day we asked if we could have a grilled cheese sandwich which somehow was not possible (please note: they do offer a grilled ham cheese sandwich). Housekeeping services have also been a source of inconsistency. The timing of their visits fluctuates between early morning and as late as 4 pm, without a discernible pattern. The provision of fresh pool towels is similarly unpredictable. An incident that particularly stood out was when I discovered a dirty cleaning towel left on my personal clothing, which is not acceptable by any standard, let alone that of a luxury hotel. In conclusion, while the property's physical attributes and the congeniality of the breakfast staff are commendable, the overall service level requires attention and refinement. I am hopeful that the hotel will address these issues promptly, ensuring that the remainder of my stay, and that of future guests, matches the high standards set by the property's initial impression.

We flew from Paros to Athens. picked up a rental car and took a very easy 3 hour drive to Costa Navarino. The W Hotel is a fairly new hotel. Upon check in the manager came out to greet me as she recognized my lifetime platinum elite status. She was lovely and immediately upgraded us to a 2 bedroom beach front suite with a private pool. The room was spectacular!! As with most W Hotel resorts we have stayed at the buffet breakfast was excellent with too many options to mention. The main pool area is large and beautiful. The hotel gym has everything you need for workout. There are waterfront restaurants outside the hotel within walking distance and there are 4 golf courses nearby. There are also charming towns to visit within a short car drive. Right outside our room was a restaurant/shopping area that is part of the hotel with several restaurants, shops and an outdoor movie theater. A very cool option to have for dinners or drinks. Overall, Costa Navarino offers a completely different vibe than the white structures typically found in Santorini or Mykonos. We loved the W Hotel in Costa Navarino and highly recommend it.

Location and Hotel are amazing! Beautifully designed and very well maintained. I would have rated 5 if only the stuff would have been more professional. Too many mistakes of waitresses and reception desk that damage the image of a W hotel. For example I ordered eggs Benedict without Salmon. I got it very late and with salmon. They replaced it immediately and got it back 3 min. after without the salmon but with the whole taste of the salmon….coffee came late and wrong one….veggie club sandwich came with meat and needed more than 20 min to replace…checking out took more than 30 min. as the teller was not professional, etc..All in all great potential but service must improve‍♀️

Once again this season, I visited the W Costa Navarino and my expectations, as in previous seasons, were met! The facilities were excellent, my room impeccable, the breakfast truly five-star, and my dinner at the Parelia restaurant was unique. However, what makes this hotel special is its staff!!! Polite, always willing to cater to your need, effortlessly smiling, most of them exceptional professionals! I feel the need and duty to thank Konstantinos Kanaris, who is always by my side and present for any request I have, Yiolanda from B&F, my sweet Georgia from Whatever-Whenever, Dora from the Front Office who always takes care of me, Niki & Georgia from the exp. curator and many others whom i unfortunately forget at the moment! Well done possibly the best hotel in our country!

I don't have enough words to describe the great vacation we had. The rooms are beautiful .Very comfortable bed .Large verity of amenities in the bathrooms. The restaurants offer excellent food at a great price. The water in the huge swimming pools is warm and comfortable enough to have a great swim. I don't have enough words to describe the great vacation we had. We are booking it again for next year !!! And at last but not least all the credit goes to Mr.Konstantinos Kanaris who makes it a point to know every guest personally and attend to all his needs and requests. Thank you Mr. Kanaris

What a unique authentic greek paradise to be spoiled and relax! From the moment we arrived we felt to be treated as an honored guest. A formidable place to disconnect and enjoy the magic of greek natrure through its so well preserved gardens full of greek herbs and flowers. A spirit lifting resort where each and every assistance is delivered by a magnificent well trained team. The rooms was spotlessly clean and so fine decorated, while the breakfast and the impacable dinner at the Parilia were top notch. Thank you W team for being so authentic and genuine! Of course the location one of a kind, a dream place!

It's obvious that W (Marriott) has invested a great deal in building this new property. Unfortunately, every interaction with staff over the our 5 day staff left the strong impression that they had never worked in a hotel or restaurant and are opperating without supervision. If you are not out of your room before 10:00AM each day, don't expect it to be cleaned. Every dish or piece of cutlery at the extensive breakfast buffet(s) is, more likely than not, dirty with yesterday's food. Despite the resort being at perhaps 20% of capacity (May), any food or drink order will take 4 times longer than you might expect. We ordered wine with dinner and, despite chasing twice, it did not arrive until the meal was over... no apology or reason given. The staff are not rude or uninterested. They just don't seem to have any training or supervision. It's like they have just been given a uniform and told to have a go at it. Overall, quality of food and wine is poor, given the price and positioning of the W brand. After a few bad experiences, we have been walking over to the adjacent Mandarin Oriental as an expensive but good quality alternative. There seem to be a strange fascination with live DJs... As if the management is looking for any opportunity to turn this high end beach resort into Las Vegas ****** pool party. It is just tone deaf. The average guest is 50+ and relaxing by the pool. All of a sudden another DJ pops up and blasts house music across the resort for 6 hours straight. This could either be a great destination if management get their act together and train their staff, or...maybe not. At the May rates of around 350Euro it is unacceptable. At the summer rates of over 1000Euro night, this will be a bad joke.
