Good food and good service

It was off season and on a weekday when I visited. There were only 2 couples during our stay so we had the whole resort to ourselves. The room was clean, aircon was cold, water pressure was good and the resort well maintained. Food taste normal but the portion was big. Staffs were friendly. I especially like the included evening visit to the fishing village at the other side of the island. It was a peaceful and lively village.

Not much facilities in the resort but simplicity may be someone’s favourite. You can go cycling and join other recreational water activities. Or simply walk along the shore and appreciate the sunset. I like visiting the local villages behind the resort. The schedule is a bit loose and there’s a room for improvement in respect of time management by the resort.

The big problem that the hotel has is the plastic and garbage surrounding the island. It would be a paradise, but rubbish is a big ecological problem. Maybe they can put 2/3 employees to assure the cleanliness of the beach

Excellent experience in Kota Kinabalu

The resort is on the remote Mermaid Island. It takes 2 hours by bus and 1 hour by speedboat. The speedboat is very bumpy. If you are seasick, prepare some medicine. The hotel arrangement is pretty good. You get on the bus at Jesselton Pier at 9:30. There are staff on the left side of the lobby. There are drinks at the pier at 12 o'clock. There is a train pick-up and welcome drinks on the island at 1:30. The rooms are all wooden houses. The beach is right outside the door. The room is quite clean. The hot water is not too hot. The water supply and air conditioning are very good. 4 bottles of water are provided. In the afternoon, we will arrange snorkeling collectively. After that, you can pay for deep and shallow fishing. In the morning, you can also pay for sea fishing. Kayaking and glass boats are free. In the evening, we will organize a hike across the island to the south to watch the sunset. The sunrise can be seen directly on the beach. The food is a Chinese buffet, which is large and full. There are meat and seafood. The snacks, fruits and drinks are all pretty good. There are no cocktails in the bar, but there are billiards and darts. The island is quite suitable for flying drones, and taking photos on the beach is also good. We have never gone out except to watch the sunset. The hotel does not encourage going out alone. There are other hotels and residents on the island. On the last day, we took a boat to leave the island and return by the same route at 10 o'clock. We were expected to arrive at Jesselton Pier at around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Overall, it was very relaxing. The all-inclusive package was not enough to spend money. It is recommended to have more island adventure activities.

Free round-trip boat transfer: basically no worries about transportation! You don’t have to use your own brain to get the car or boat. You just need to arrive at Jesselton Pier on time in the morning and you will see the hotel car! The three meals a day buffet is great! Because we went there in the off-season, there were not many tourists on the island, but the hotel provided all the services that we should enjoy, and there were no discounts because of the off-season. It was full of ceremony! Finally, the scenery is beautiful, and the hotel is currently under expansion. I look forward to a more beautiful and improved infrastructure next time!

The price-performance ratio is too high. There are many kinds of meals for three meals. The food is rich. The facilities are new and well-decorated. The young people here are polite and the service is excellent. As for the scenery, the sea view of Mermaid Island and the beach are as good as those of the Maldives. The price is far better than the Maldives. It's great. My evaluation is that it is worth it. I will definitely return again next time.

The hotel basically includes three meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and two hours of meal time. However, the first 45 minutes have been full of food, so there is not much left! We didn't arrive at the first time and the food was slow. It was gone soon. We could only ask the waiter if there was any refills. He said that there might not be any. Maybe it was the end of the season when we went there! But then they added a little bit for us, thank you! The weather was fine. The current was very fast during snorkeling and the water was not very clear. I only saw some small coral fish. The coral reefs were not many colors and there were no soft corals. The water was also very cold🥶🥶. Let’s watch the sunrise early this morning🌅The tide was low. Okay, you can go to the beach and check out other hotels. The accommodation on Mermaid𡷊 is very good and the scenery is beautiful.

I came here once before the holiday and it felt good. I feel familiar with the old place again this time. At 9:30, there is a JS K counter at the ticket office of Jesselton Pier in the city center. Take the free shuttle bus. No prior reservation is required. Drive on time at 9:30. It will take about 1.5 hours to arrive at the hotel's dedicated pier, and then transfer to the speedboat. It takes about 50 minutes to reach Mermaid Island, and the round trip is free. The biggest feature of this resort is its good service. Whether it is the front desk, dining room, snorkeling, sanitation, etc., they are very polite and enthusiastic. There were only four of us snorkeling this time, and the hotel sent a speedboat and full-time personnel to accompany us. As for drinking, there is a clear improvement this time and we are very satisfied. Suggestion: Ctrip or the hotel provide real-time updates on the free round-trip transportation to Mermaid Island to prevent vacation guests from wasting time, effort and money.

Mermaid Island is very beautiful, but I want to complain about Ctrip’s staff. I contacted them more than a month in advance and said that on the day of check-in, I went to Jesselton Point at 7 o’clock in the morning and found the Jsk counter. No problem, but when I arrived at 7 o'clock that day, the counter staff told me that the bus would arrive at 9 o'clock. I waited there for two hours before getting on the bus. I arrived at the pier after 12 o'clock and arrived at the island at 1:30 noon (the time to get to the island varies depending on the season). Check-out is also different (you need to confirm again before traveling). Then I only went to one of the two snorkeling places promised in the afternoon, and the three meals were relatively ordinary. Fortunately, the sea is really beautiful, and there are six or seven people in the group who are seasick.

The scenery is very good and the stay is very comfortable. It is recommended to stay in the most expensive room type near the sea. Suitable for lying down and staring at the stars. Disadvantages: The food is very average, the omlette for breakfast is sour. The drinks in the bar are a bit expensive. There is a circled area on the beach where you can row. If you exceed the circle, someone will remind you. It is relatively safe. It is not recommended for those who like adventure. The entire island is not very developed, so there are no decent restaurants and bars. Basically, you can only eat in the hotel. The drinks are very poor. They are all mixed fruit juice and sugar water. Coffee and hot tea are just okay. I drink three cups of coffee every day. There are only 2 kinds of fruits but they are relatively sweet. There are not many items to play, and the introduction at the front desk is not very detailed. You need to go to the sign at the entrance of the dive shop to see what time the departure time is and what fun things there are. The sign is not very clear. The sunrise and sunset in the morning and evening are not written, so you have to ask yourself to know more clearly. There was snorkeling in the afternoon, but we only went to one diving spot, which lasted about half an hour. It didn’t feel very enjoyable.
