Progreso Beach Hotel

We were quite pleased. The location is just a few steps to the malecon. Our suite was quite clean and the bed comfortable. All the staff was friendly and helpful. The room decor is minimal at most. The price value though is phenomenal. We would stay here again without hesitation.

The hotel is a very good mexican hotel. I was on the main floor and it was very quiet thw pool is great to cool off at the end of the day. The seak staff were very helpful and i will definitely stay here again.

What to say, firstly staff on arrival were excellent, could not be better. A one star rating for following reasons. Door to room has no deadbolt, only a house passage lock, I opened it without key to show wife how bad it was. No glasses in the suite, yes suite, when I asked for two the answer was no. The shower drain sounds like running water whenever, I assume suite above, flushed. The bathroom smelt every time someone in suite above flushed. The window in bathroom has no screen so dare not leave it open for bugs. The window from hall into room did not have a functioning lock, not that it mattered as door to room didn’t either. One small, thin blanket that might actually have been a table cloth. We were cold at night. The pigeons nesting/living beside bedroom window were noisy, noise, noisy. Even in the night. This was not a hotel I would recommend to anyone who wants to sleep or leave belongings in while out of room. There is more but that should do.

The location of this hotel is great, one block away from the beach, across the street from the Meteorite museum, and half a block from a 24/7 convenience store. The hotel is perfect for a short vacation where you are looking for value for your money. The parking at the rear of the hotel is small but convenient. Beware that there is no food offered at all.

Not for the property, I have an issue with this booking. (Junior suites) Never use the bedroom, I hope you read my mail.

This hotel will be loved or hated depending on your expectations. Overall, in the US I would consider this a high quality 2 star hotel. If you are looking for a Hilton or even Courtyard experience, you will be disappointed. Pros: in our room (207) the AC worked great. The room was perfectly clean and a few of the bath fixtures show recent upgrades. The beds were fine (no box spring) and the staff were polite. Location very close to the beach. The price was very affordable. I think I paid US$50 a night with one day notice in the middle of June. There is a small pool at the front. Cons: the furnishings are very basic. 2 beds, small bedside table, desk with bench for sitting. No where to relax or even sit except the bed. Only 2 towels and no other bath linen. Bathroom is small. The staff I encounter spoke almost no English, but did not get upset at my bad Spanish. No elevator. The hotel has 4 stories. And no one to carry bags for you. There are many room types, some suites with dining table and chairs and a fridge, etc. so, if do not not want the sparse room I had and you can speak Spanish, I am sure they can accommodate for a higher rate. Perhaps the most serious issue I had was that there was no way to lock the room door from the inside. The door locks automatically as you enter, so a key is needed, but there is no deadbolt or other way to secure the door from the inside. Now, I note that nearby Merida was just named the safest city in all of North America, including Canada and the US, so maybe this is less of an issue So, if I was driving down I95 and pulled over to a no-name motel, I would find this place to be great. It was clean and is being pretty well maintained, overall. And it is 1 block from an ocean beach that is not too crowded. If you have that expectation in mind, it is just fine and probably as good as the many air bnb nearby for the price. But, if you are looking for a Hampton inn or courtyard designed for American tastes, you will likely be disappointed. .

nice place to stay clean and quite, I dislike that wifi was harly works there not easy access to it, other concern was bed was hard to get your sleep too uncomfortable other then that everything work for us. easy access to the beach local stores.

Kitchen was only a fridge and sink. V. Noisy, bar is half block away, so music until early hours. No restaurant or gift store, which was advertised as an amenity. It was however clean, inexpensive, and convenient to el centro.and beach.
