Falkensteiner Boutique Hotel Prague

Old Town Prague|0.28km from Henry's Bell Tower
We were in Falkenstein Hotel for 3 nights and had a normal double room. First to the positive: Breakfast is really good and in addition to the buffet are served on order fresh things like omelets, Porige & Co. On the buffet there could be a little more vegan choice. Except for a humus and alternative milk there was not much. This does not fit to a modern young hotel. However, you can say that breakfast is fresh, lovely and sufficiently rich. Also the staff at breakfast is very friendly and attentive! However, what we have never experienced is that the buffet is really closed in time and everything is immediately cleared. That is uncomfortable and does not fit to a high-end hotel. Now to the negative aspects: In general, we were not satisfied with our stay. The lobby & bar is modern and stylish. The lifts are obsolete and the fence works more after a motel. The rooms are small (but not bad for us!) However, there also lacks some lovely details that you would expect in a 5-star hotel. The coffee machine is a little old and calcified, too, there is no water cooker but tea accessories which is somewhat questionable. The worst was the service at the lobby and the cleaning forces!! During our stay, we had always been in the lobby to face the same gentleman who appeared unfriendly and unsympathetic. One day after cleaning our room, we stayed without toilet paper and without a single towel! We have drawn attention to this and received a slightly annoying reaction instead of an excuse! The price-performance ratio is unfortunately not true in this hotel and we have made better experiences with 5 and 4 stars hotels in Prague.

For an European hotel the rooms are large enough, Beds are very comfortable and you sleep like a baby after all day walking; hotel is located near almost everything : stores nearby, city center less than a 10 minute walk away, Room has a coffee / tea maker , has USB outlets to hook up phones, tablets, other devices. Personnel very helpful, polite, courteous. TV is a large screen with access to Netflix & Youtube if you want to see TV in your native language (found just one news channel in english and TV shows do not have captions in either english or spanish ) Mini fridge in room is stocked with beverages so almost no space for own stuff -but no problem at all-. If you love snacks around the corner is a mini market stocked with all kind of treats, sodas, liquor, sandwiches, chips. If you're new to the city look for a map and make use of the corridors inside the buildings : they are shortcuts between streets so you do not walk more than needed. If it is raining and you do not have an umbrella, in the lobby they can give you one, but the quantity available per day is limited so take one only if you need it and would be very polite to return it when you're back in the hotel Breakfast at the hotel is not very expensive and it's the equivalent to a continental breakfast. Coffee is very strong in Prague so the equivalent - of sorts- is the ”Luongo” version ; thou you can serve yourself to an espresso and drown it in milk so it's not that strong. If you go to Prague I'd strongly suggest staying in this hotel : It's top notch for it's price range and take plenty of time to get to the airport from here : it's about a 30 minute drive without traffic and about 1 hr during business hours

The location of the hotel is quite good, the whole is European style, the bathroom is very big, unfortunately there is no wet and dry separation, and there is no floor drain (is this the case in all European hotels), the door on the bathtub is only half, the floor is wet when showering, and it cannot be drained, except In addition, the equipment is pretty good, and the breakfast is also very rich. I will recommend it to my friends👍

Location is great, but a big confusing to get to. The large sign outside of the building doesn’t actually say the hostel name (A plus). It says something else. The woman that checked me in and out was friendly and welcoming. I stayed in a “private” room but the toilets and showers were still shared, which was one of the purposes of me getting a private room…. This wasn’t made clear before booking. The floors were not cleaned, and my room was not cleaned in the second day (I stayed two nights). The toilets and showers were ok, but should be cleaned. When I was there, they weren’t “dirty”, but didn’t look like they’d been cleaned in quite a while. The common area was just a bunch of tables and chairs and there wasn’t much socializing going on. When I walked in, there’s was one guy who was taking a nap. That was it. There is a cool old-school elevator that works from the first floor, which is fun. Not sure why my room was as expensive as it was considering I could have stayed in an actual hotel for relatively the same price. Overall this wasn’t a bad place to stay, but definitely not worth the price.

This is a good place, very close to the train station, a few minutes away, not far from the old city, very convenient to stroll. Some beds are not going to bed, it is more comfortable to live, the kitchen is in the room, it is very convenient to burn a hot water. Overall satisfaction.
