Paris|0.11km from Latin Quarter
I have never received such appalling service as from which I did from Home Latin. Firstly it is advertised on booking.com & the hotels own site that rooms have either a bath or shower, at check in I asked for a room with a bath & was advised that none of the rooms have baths. At check in I was told that I had to pay tourist tax for our stay, there is no information as this at time of booking, I have booked several hotels in Paris through yourselves & the tax has always been included in the cost of the room. Man at reception advised it was per person, per night & had to be pain separate from the room & paid in cash, He said I owed 16 euros, I gave him 20 euros & he asked if I had 1 euro & he’d give me a 5 euro note back, I never had any change, he gave me 4 euros back. I checked Paris tourist board the next day & it states that for a 3 star hotel tourist tax is 1.88 euros per person per night, which equates to 15.04 euros. I highlighted this to another receptionist to which he said he would check with his colleague from the previous night & get back to me, he never did. I heard the man that checked us in do this to other guests, he must be making a nice little racket scamming customers. There was no fridge in the room, told staff member who booked us in & he said there was nothing he could do, I’d need to go to reception in the morning, which I did & was told they would put one in that day. When returned later that day I asked female receptionist if fridge had been put in, she said no & she said that they’d need to buy one tomorrow as ours wasn’t working, explained to her (the 3rd member of staff) that it wasn’t there. Next morning before going out for the day I asked reception about fridge & he said it would go in that day. It did but we were 2.5 days without a fridge. Main reason I booked this hotel was that I could get a room with a bath & have a fridge, let down on both points! They only supply paper cups for tea & coffee, which was never replenished. Bathroom ceiling was mouldy & paint peeling off, disgusting! On Tuesday 3rd of January my friend left early, leaving me in bed, I left do not disturb sign on outside of door for the duration of our stay. I sleep with ear plugs in. Someone came into my room while I was sleeping, left when they seen I was still in bed & dropped a ladies chiffon scarf on the floor. When I got up, the room was still in darkness but I could see something on the floor, thinking it was item of clothing belonging to my friend, I picked it up & threw it on his bed. I got ready & left for the day to meet my friend. On returning later that day, I noticed that do not disturb sign was not on outside of door. My friend asked what it was on his bed & picking it up that’s when we seen it was a ladies scarf. House keeping had been in & made my bed (friend had made his before he left), even though sign said do not enter, they’d put it back on inside of the door. I noticed my conditioner (Olaplex, expensive) had been

Hôtel Henri IV Rive Gauche

Paris|0.13km from Latin Quarter
We have stayed at this hotel 4 times since 2014, 3 times pre-pandemic and the last recently. The location is fantastic. It is on Rue St. Jacques about a block off the Seine, one block east of the Blvd. Saint Michel. It is a heavy tourist area, with narrow streets and an endless variety of cheap restaurants of all types. But it is so close to so many things -- Notre Dame, the Pantheon, La Chapelle, Luxembourg Gardens. It is wedged between the fashionable 6th and 7th arrondissements to the West and the Sorbonne to the East. Other than location, however, the hotel does not have a lot going for it. On our last stay, we were given a very tiny room, and I mean tiny. It was a double, with maybe a foot of clearance on each side of the bed and no more than about 5 feet from the foot of the bed to the wall. Our booking said the room was 173 square feet, but this was nowhere close. I measured and it was about 120 square feet, including the bathroom and a useless little hall that connected the bathroom to the bedroom. If memory serves me, the measurements of the bedroom proper were about 8 x 11 with a 2 x 6 foot indentation where the desk/minibar was kept. There was not enough room to open our suitcase unless we put it on the bed, which is not optimal to say the least. (See pictures.) We objected to the front desk, and while the clerk was very professional, the bottom line was there was nothing he could do and he tried to convince us that this was a ”classic” double and would be the same at any other 3 star hotel. This is not true and does not explain why it would be billed as 173 square feet. The next day we were given a larger room which was 173 square feet and quite adequate, even comfortable. The bed, linens and towels were about what you would expect from a 3 star hotel, no complaints about that. The toiletries were minimal and practically useless. The internet was painfully slow. Housekeeping was borderline. The sheets were not changed, which does not bother me for a 3 night stay, but I don't think we were given fresh towels. The 1/8th inch sliver of soap was not replaced, nor were the 1/2 ounce tubes of shampoo / body wash. Breakfast is not included and unlike most hotels there is no option to include it. Thus you pay full price, which is way too much and has declined over the years. The offering is a couple types of cold cuts, a couple types of cheese in tiny individual wrappers, three flavors of yogurt if lucky, two types of cold cereal, a croissant, a few pieces of fruit, small loaves of bread, puff pastry pain au chocolate and hard boiled eggs. There is probably sliced bread and a toaster. Due to the limited selection, every breakfast is going to be the same. The tables are extremely small, and great care must be taken to fit everything, and we are talking about a plate, a cup and saucer, a pot of coffee and a small pitcher of warm milk. One careless motion and something is bound to land on the floor. One distress

I have just got back from my trip to Paris where I stayed in this hotel. The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was nice, not many options but there was some nice food. However, we stayed in the room 106 which was situated right opposite a bar that closed at 3am! It was the loudest bar near us which was typical. I know it’s not the hotels fault but just bare in mind when you book, see if you can specify which room. Unfortunately the hotel staff on the night shift wasn’t very helpful. We stayed for 3 nights and we were told we couldn’t swap rooms either night! We asked on multiple occasions and their response was ask in the morning. I just wanted to let people know as I didn’t sleep a wink the whole trip and don’t want the same for any one else.

Good points : spotlessly clean, modern and very central Room has a phone, alarm clock, iron and built in wardrobes,a safe and drawers to put stuff in BBC world news available on a 40' TV (all the rest were French) Staff very friendly and helpful Bad points : Tiny rooms,I was in a privilege room and frankly would be worried about the under privileged It was so tiny, you wouldn't swing a cat in it There was no balcony, you'd be forgiven for thinking there might be having seen the website and you'd certainly wonder what you paid extra for There is a window that opens wide You will have an awful lot of street noise Breakfast : if you want a fried egg or an Omelette, you're handed the pan and the cooker is turned on for you.. There are some luke warm 'hot breakfast items, cold meats and various continental breakfast items Coffee is brought to your table for you (from a machine I think),nothing else Basically you're getting a 2.5* functional experience here Would I stay again? Not really Too small and too basic

We stayed in the hotel for two days, but the cleaning staff of the hotel stole our things! ! ! When we went out on the first day, the suitcase was zippered, but it was not locked, but when we came back, although the suitcase was zipped, there was an extra rag left by the sanitation staff in the suitcase. It's still wet, it should have leaked after going through the suitcase. It's disgusting! We lost some Euros and a pair of Apple Bluetooth headsets, because we two girls and we continued to live there the next day did not ask the hotel to deal with it. I would like to remind everyone who will stay in the later period not to put valuables in the hotel! ! If the hands and feet of the hotel sanitation staff are not clean, they will look through your box!

I seldom bother to write reviews unless it's really good or really bad. In this case, Hotel Parc Saint-Séverin is just excellent. I decided to book this hotel because it has a very good review, its overall points were in the top 3 for the area. After 3 days staying here, I'm confident to tell you all, the good reviews are all true. This hotel has great location and great service, every person I met in the hotel was friendly and helpful at all times, lots of polite greetings and smiling faces every day! It's the one thing I really appreciate, for me it's the most important factor that made this stay so satisfactory. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. I'm just very sorry that I'm too poor to leave a big tip behind, but I will come back soon.
