Villa-Des-Prés

There were a ton of great things about this little hotel, and a few things to know before booking. If you want a luxury hotel with intimacy (not big, bold, or grand, see Four Seasons, Hotel Lutetia, Prince de Galles, La Réserve) on the left bank and you want to be in the 6th this is a great hotel. If you want the same on the right bank, Fauchon Hotel is incredibly charming and I think an overall nicer hotel in the same category (but that’s another review). Villa Des Pres just opened in Dec 2023 in the heart of Saint Germain de Pres. The Good: Design materials — gorgeous textures, modern and warm Soundproofing — excellent, and we had room facing busy street Pool and Finnish Sauna — very nice way to unwind at the end of the day Staff — welcoming, cordial, and very friendly Breakfast — pricey but very good The bar area — comfortable and chic Heated mirror in the combined sink and shower area was a nice touch Towels were soft, beds comfortable. Concierge — eager and helpful The Bad The bed linens were not as soft as expected for 5 star property. A minor gripe. The entry to the hotel is awkward. A single door at an odd angle that the staff sometimes tries to open for you. Hard for two people to enter/exit simultaneously. The check in and adjacent concierge desk are tiny — 2 or 3 guests standing there max. The room size/configuration/value — look at the square footage of the rooms. I took the base room for this particular trip as I didn’t think the larger rooms were worth it, I wanted to stay in the 6th, and I was trying for a more economical week in Paris (for a higher price point I would have ended up spending more and stayed somewhere else) but it was hard for two people to really move around in the space and closet allocation was tight (no drawers). There was also only 1 sink in this room category adding to the difficulty — this was not stated in the room descriptions so a bit of a surprise for me. I would defiantly stay at Villa Des Pres again if I wanted to be in the 6th and was trying to economize.
