We were there for the Olympics so got scalped on the prices but we knew that when we booked. ....And of course we are not French officers so we were guests of the French military. Club is in a good central location near Gare St Lazare with plenty of bars and eateries nearby. The foyer is very much of the 1920s grand style. All the staff with whom we had dealings were polite and courteous. Booking in and checking out was seamless. The rooms were very clean but quote "clearly not designed by a woman". No dressing table, no fridge, no towel rails, no idea whether the bottles of wine and water in the room were complimentary or how much they cost. There was a kettle and a few sachets of Lipton's tea but if you are visiting from UK I would advise bringing your own teabags and some sachets of milk. A/c worked well...it needed to it was very hot. Separate toilet and bathroom both spotlessly clean and perfectly adequate. The shower is in the bath which is extremely high sided and access might be a bit of an issue for those whose mobility is no longer what it was. We ate in the dining room and had breakfast. Both were fine although the cooked breakfast eggs offering consisted only of omelettes which appeared to have been made with Aunt Gemima's pancake mix, and bacon. I don't know if the price hike in the room rates (twice the normal rate) frightened people off but considering the Olympics were on there was certainly no bustling throng of fellow guests. Bottom line: It was perfectly acceptable without being luxurious or fine dining and served its purpose very well. After all it is a military place and not the Ritz and we knew that before we came. I would happily stay here again. Comparison with the Victory Services Club in London? If the VSC and the Hotel St Augustine were in the same city I would probably choose the VSC but only just.

We were incredibly disappointed by our stay at this hotel. As members of the sister Hotel in London, we were expecting a five-star experience - especially when coupled with the fact that the hotel doubled its price over the course of the Paris Olympics, leading to a 400 euro price tag per night. Whilst expensive, we were prepared to pay this for the experience promised. Well, how let down we were. One pillow per bed, no kettle or tea and coffee in the room, a poor buffet experience (no coffee ordered or eggs per order - just a substandard coffee machine and a machine to boil your eggs if you were lucky), poor customer service, barely any other residents in the hotel etc etc. I would really not recommend staying at this hotel at all - please consider alternative options and don't be fooled into thinking that the price warrants the stay

I stayed here for 1N whislt visiting Paris for a work activity. Basic rooms, but no issues - very competitive rates for Paris. So much so that I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else if I was visiting the city. Breakfast buffet provided a good range of options.

Lamentable service, we were dislodged at 5 p.m. on the pretext of a flood to be relocated to an annex on rue Descartes. In reality, there was indeed a problem with a leak, but we learned that the room had been allocated to a person who was to stay on rue Descartes who refused to be separated from his group, in short, first come first served... The staff hotels and the manager got entangled in muddy explanations. This is lamentable on the part of a hotelier, especially when he is attached to a military institution. Avoid if you can (moreover the staff is not up to par and takes it easy). The only interest is the location

Today I ate at La Popote, the simple brasserie in the basement. A simple menu but sufficiently varied to delight all customers. 6 starters from €8.50 to €14 for Scottish smoked salmon. 5 dishes from 15 to 18.50 € for homemade tartare, 5 desserts for max 6.50 € including a Saint Honoré, a Baba or a Tatin. You can find cheaper in the neighborhood of course. But not as calm and good-natured. For €15.50 I feasted on salmon tortelli with lemon butter sauce and arugula. Fresh, tasty, plentiful. Service with a smile and fast. It remains to make an effort on the largely outdated decoration, I'm thinking of the swing doors in faux wood and the pale lighting.

Working meal between ministry colleagues. What a desappointment ! The setting is not enough to build a reputation while the quality of the welcome can seriously harm it. As soon as you arrive, a lady thinks she is ordering you to leave your jacket in the locker room, claiming security reasons. At the bar, the waiter is not more friendly and sulks when a smile is free. Only the meal was good and the service in the restaurant was good. Definitely, I won't go back there again.

You must be a member to access. I hadn't been back to the St Augustin hotel for around ten years. we had a comfortable and quiet renovated room (overlooking the courtyard). The service offered in the 8th arrondissement of Paris is of very good quality. The only downside is the bathroom without a radiator, very cool at this time of year! Pleasant, professional and efficient welcome.

The place is magnificent, even grandiose We like the spaces, the clean and spacious rooms The possibility of having lunch in three different restaurants of good quality We regret The (cold) reception without explanation of the changes since the Covid pandemic Not a notepad or paper in the room A small bottle of water in the absence of a welcome tray (kettle, coffee, tea, etc.) Very big downside to the breakfast!!! First of all, I was not told at the reception that the express breakfast was still valid, nor was there any more breakfast served in the rooms. However, in view of the pandemic, we do not all want to meet so many people in a small room, where the tables are tight (arm's width) or when you are on a table, in parallel with the buffet, you feel all the people passed behind you, coughing, gagging and such. Especially since the reception when it is made by a certain lady, gray hair squared, leaves more than to be desired, she imposes a tight table on you to others, while others are available and do not want to budge. We get rid of you when you haven't finished your breakfast, No really you have to act!!! Please, reinstate the possible breakfast in the room

We were lucky enough to be able to eat at the Cercle Saint Augustin, and to have eaten at the Grande Table. Cozy place, reserved for people with family in the army. At the bar, discreet and fast waiter. The building deserves a bit of a facelift, it would make it worthwhile. To meditate.
