A very friendly welcome and a lovely large room were just the basics of this place. The surrounding land was full of birds and we booked an early morning bird walk with an excellent guide. This is also a place where you can go on a meerkat safari but you must book ahead as it’s very popular and places are limited(we booked before we travelled here). There are places to relax in the hotel gardens and the food was excellent. Definitely recommend.
Response from Property: Thank you for the visit Jane and thank you for taking the time to write your review :-) Our bird watching tours are quite popular now with all the water on the farm! Happy you had the time to to experience our early morning meerkat safari. Thank you again for the visit and we look forward to a future visit soon! Kind regards from Oudtshoorn Kristy

We visited De Zeeko Farm ostensibly to go on a Meerkat safari. We regretted not staying more than one night as the farm was a wonderful place to stay and the area had lots more to offer. The room was huge and beautifully designed with lots of thoughtful touches. The food at dinner and breakfast was fantastic. Thank you!
Response from Property: Thank you for the lovely review and for visiting our farm :-) safe travels ahead, Kristy

We arrived early evening to a nice welcome. Facilities nice, staff friendly and service fine. We had dinner in the restaurant and despite having given our food order when we booked our reservation, the delivery of the food was very slow. The bedroom was like an ice box and there were mosquitoes everywhere in the bathroom. Very off putting!

Fantastic service, lovely rooms, delicious meals. The main reason for our stay was to join the Meerkat adventure tour. It is an absolute must do, and Devey is absolutely brilliant, passionate, entertaining and so knowledgeable. We'll be back.

Simply fabulous! We loved everything about the place. Our second visit. Rooms are beautiful, food excellent and the meerkat tour unique in all the world. Lovely views, fish eagles, mountains, fantastic hospitality, friendly staff, cosy and welcoming.

The property is very beautiful. Comfortable, clean with spacious rooms. Friendly and efficient staff. Met the owner as well, Paula who is extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast is a feast. Highly recommend the Meerkat excursion. This accommodation is a Must see when visiting Oudsthoorn.

The De Zeekoe lodge was a wonderful experience! We stayed for a night and wish we stayed longer. The premises was clean, the rooms were huge, and the food was great. We also enjoyed playing with the three resident cats at the lodge. The sherry nightcap and personal stoves in the room were a nice touch!

We stayed three nights in the honeymoon suite which was as large and comfortable with a good view. The food was disappointing and we would recommend going into town (15 minute drive) for dinner. That said the staff, particularly the manager, were helpful. It is an excellent place to stay for the meerkat and ostrich experiences as well as for visiting the Swartberg Pass.

Had an amazing one night stay at De Zeekoe. It’s a very authentic stay with lovely rooms and a nice pool to relax by. You can use the bikes free of charge which was amazing, we were very grateful (the bikes could do with a service as some a bit clunky - we were very grateful to be able to use them though - thank you). Food in restaurant for evening meal and breakfast was lovely. Staff very helpful. Would recommend to anyone 😊

Very welcoming hotel with plenty of quiet spots to sit and rest. Room was beautifully furnished and had every facility. Location is quite remote and a car is needed. However the on site restaurant provides a good range of beautifully cooked meals, by local staff and service is excellent. Great base to explore the ostrich farms and caves, and definitely worth the scenic drive over the mountain pass to get there.

De Zeekoe is one of my favorite places to stay. Food for the soul and a place where you can rest and relax. Beautiful accommodation, lovely meals and open spaces to run, cycle, walk or just relax under the African sun and moon. You can either book a luxury suite, self-catering or the type of accommodation that suit your stay. The luxury Suites are luxury, and you feel like a new person spending a night in these suites. I will recommend more than a one-night stay, because there is also a lot to o in the area. I am looking forward to my next visit to De Zeekoe.

I had to check and double check that this was the correct property that I was reviewing. I have no idea how it has achieved the rating is has. We started off quite badly with no meet and greet after our long journey. In fact nobody at reception at all. When we were eventually shown to our room I was pleased that we were only staying one night and that we had arranged dinner elsewhere. Our room was not 3*. I could describe it and most features in it as either old, or tired, or dirty, or just inadequate. After listening to the people in the next room showering our breakfast and the communal areas were okay but it was too late by then - the damage had been done. Cannot recommend.

The staff could have maybe been a little more attentive. On arrival we stood in a queue for ages to check in because there was nobody on reception. We booked our evening meal on arrival which was lovely. We ordered two beers at the bar and only one was opened for us. Although the staff were very lovely, they could have been a bit more alert. I put some laundry in on the day before we left and only received 2 sets of underwear back out of 8 sets - nobody seemed to be too bothered about helping to find 6 sets of my underwear - just denied that they had been lost at all. We broke a glass on the balcony by accident on the first night and did let the staff know - they said they would deal with it, but the glass was still there under the table and chairs the next night. Having said all that, the room was lovely with a really nice, peaceful balcony to sit on in the evenings
