Hotel Battle of Britain

We arrived without a booking and the hosts were most helpful in accommodating us. The bedroom was spacious although the bathroom was small. We dined at the hotel restaurant with wonderful views over Lake Orta. Dinner was enjoyable although breakfast was adequate rather than substantial. If you are seeking luxury this isn't it, but if you want a decent night's meal and sleep in a clean, no frills hotel with obliging hosts, then you've come to the right place.

ENGLISH BELOW ITALIANO: Siamo stati qui un weekend di metà ottobre, da venerdì a domenica. L'hotel si trova a Vacciano di Ameno, un paesino che domina dall'alto il lago d'Orta. A scendere giù ad Orta ci vogliono circa 5 minuti in macchina, a piedi circa 20 (a salire è un po' più lunga). La vista dalla camera è spettacolare (nella prenotazione potete chiedere esplicitamente di avere camera con vista). La camera è un po' old style, dotata di letto, TV, armadio, comodini e poltrona, mentre il bagno è stato rinnovato recentemente. In ogni caso, abbiamo dormito molto bene. Unica pecca il wifi che non funzionava benissimo... La prima colazione è servita nella sala ristorante, dove si gode di un'ottima vista sul lago grazie all'ampia vetrata. È composta da croissant, marmellata, Nutella, burro, fette biscottate, caffè, succo, thè e si può chiedere in più un piattino di formaggio, prosciutto e uova e una fetta di crostata. Al ristorante dell'hotel abbiamo cenato due sere e abbiamo mangiato molto bene entrambe le volte. Servono piatti piemontesi (vitello tonnato, bonnet, agnolotti...) a buon prezzo e di buona qualità! Il personale è veramente molto gentile, accogliente e professionale. Secondo noi con pochissimo sforzo potrebbero arrivare tranquillamente alla terza stella! ENGLISH: we stayed in this hotel for a whole weekend (Friday till Sunday) in mid October. The hotel is located in Vacciano di Amego, a small town facing the Orta Lake. It takes just 5 mins to reach Orta if you go by car (20 min If you walk). The view from the room is breathtaking (when you book you're room you can choose a room with a view over the lake). The room is a bit old-fashioned, but still provided with all comforts (TV, bed, closet, nightstands,armchair), while the bathroom must have been renovated lately. Anyway, we slept tight. The only drawback is the WiFi, which does not work very well... Breakfast is served in the dining room, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the lake and includes croissant, jams, Nutella, butter, rusks, coffee, orange juice, tea and in addiction you can ask for a platter of cold cuts, cheese and scrambled eggs and for a piece of cake. We dined at the restaurant twice and both meals were delicious! They offer piedmontese specialities such as agnolotti (meat ravioli), vitel tonné (calf slices with a tuna and capers sauce) and bonnet (some sort of a chocolate pudding). Very good quality-price ratio! The staff is very kind, welcoming and professional. We think that they could reach the third star with very little effort!
