This is our second time staying here. We returned because last time was a good experience, but clearly things have changed. This time when we entered our room on the 3rd floor, there was someone in the bed watching TV. As we returned & left the lobby, we could hear that individual tell the front desk ”...so far two people have entered our room..”. We then proceeded to our new room to find the door unlocked and ajar. After checking over the room we opted to go ahead and stay here. It was only for one night. A Saturday night. Unfortunately, the breakfast crew were ill prepared for the quantity of guests on Sunday morning. Or perhaps management did not schedule appropriately. Either way, this breakfast was not what we experience at other Hamptons. Multiple items were depleted: food and silverware and plates. The room itself was clean, the wifi worked perfectly, we felt safe, and the shower/hot water was great.

Allow yourself at least an hour to explore the columned home, built in 1831 on a 1776 Spanish land grant. The house is fascinating, and even more so are the tales of past owners. Its history includes links to privateer Jean Lafitte, a flamboyant gambler, his equally flamboyant widow, a ghost or two, a buried treasure, and a Civil War battle fought right out front. And if you remember the scene in Gone With the Wind when Scarlett O'Hara shoots a marauding Union soldier on the stairs at Tara, you'll recognize the staircase -- it was copied for the movie.

This hotel was in a very good location just a bit off the highway. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. I asked for a suite and we had one on the 2nd level right across from the elevator. I was skeptical thinking the noise would be higher but in fact it was not an issue at all. The beds were comfortable. The TV/remote worked just fine however the USB cable port did not. We had our plugs so that was an easy fix. Elevator was reliable and quick. The hallways were clean. The bathroom was OK, but you could see that there was some patching that had been done. Parking was ample. There isn't a place to sit and relax outside of the hotel but not everyone likes to have that option. The breakfast was available an hour earlier which was perfect as we had an early start and would have missed it. Standard fare but fresh, hot, and there was a good mix of items. The attendant/cook was very friendly and was checking to make certain things were hot and stocked. Restaurants were close by and a good variety of options for dinner. We would stay here again.

Good rooms for the price. No breakfast was a bummer. Children playing after hours which is the fault of the parents. Good bed and slept well except for the one incident. Close to interstate. Coffe would have been better if it were community coffee.
