Great North Hotel

The room is comfy and clean. The toilet is larger than expected.

A really lovely hotel, perfectly placed for my business appointment the following day. I had been staying in Premier Inns all week and this was a good step up in quality without any extra price. Obviously some work has been undertaken to update the facilities which has been done well. Having the restaurant available was great and the Caesars Salad was absolutely perfect.

Booked as we were visiting the race course, great location with pub attached, short taxi ride to Newcastle, gosforth and jesmond. The room was lovely with nice touches like bottled water etc, the bed bed was huge, it was a zip link bed but we found it way to soft for our liking and didn’t get the best nights sleep unfortunately but other than that great hotel, also had free 3.7kw charge ports which we were really pleased about

After our first night, the hotel said you could request softer pillows if required - which we did the very next morning and was assured these would be put in our room for us. When we got back that evening, no pillows had been given and I was told that there were only 4 in the whole hotel. The reception staff were very nice and there wasn't anything that they could've done, but being notified earlier in the day, could've allowed us to source some others from a shop. As a result, we had 1 night with hard, high pillows and sore necks the next day and 3 nights with a single duvet as a pillow which didn't provide the greatest night's sleep, especially while pregnant so pretty disappointed in that respect. As a suggestion, either stock more than 4 pillows as an alternative or remove the option of changing the pillows from the welcome pack if you are unable to fulfil this requirement. I note that the Grey Street Hotel is part of your chain and I'd have happily driven to them and picked some up, but this wasn't an option.

I stay here fairly regularly during the week for work and really like the quality of the hotel etc however I brought my partner for a night away on a Saturday to go Xmas shopping and what a difference. The bar was open until midnight and extremely loud drowned out the TV - no warning seen on the website. Loud guests in corridors at all hours and banging doors.( obviously no fault of the hotel but possibly indicative of the difference in clientele at weekends so be warned) During the week it’s my go to hotel in the area but may think twice for the next weekend away.

I have stayed here several times. The standard and cleanliness of the rooms is first class and the hotel is welcoming and modern. The service is efficient and friendly and the location of the hotel is excellent for transport links into Newcastle.

Nice hotel just outside Gosforth, so you'll need to travel for Newcastle's city attractions. No other local options for food or drink, but there is an excellent bus service directly outside the hotel. It's a 10 minute bus ride to Gosforth and half an hour to Newcastle City centre. Buses are regular and there's a late night service too. The hotel is a good base for a short break or for catching up with family. Our room was small but clean and had everything we needed. Staff were all friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be going back when we visit the city again!

I’m so glad I found this place. Wasn’t expecting much as paid a low rate so was extremely pleased when I arrived. Big car park, smart reception, lovely staff and great rooms. So glad I didn’t stay up the road at the grand which for the same money is a dump in comparison.
