Me and my Doggo, received a warm reception. Room very comfortable with plenty of tea and coffee and a good shower. Unfortunately, sleep disturbed by a numpty next door, who insisted on playing his radio at top volume . however, when the night staff advised of this and numpty still refused to turn his music down. They couldn’t have been more apologetic and move me to a different room - Quiet bliss! So overall, hotel, comfy and friendly, and unfortunately you just can’t control the numpties in this world !

We've stayed at this hotel four or five times in the last few years whilst visiting our daugher at the University. I have no issues with it at all. In our opinion the owner is friendly and accomodating and the rooms clean with plenty of hot water and we've always slept well. It's a victorian building so you have to expect the odd creak or sloped floor. The question I always ask myself is does the hotel provide value for money and I think the kenilworth does. Any issues we have had have always been dealt with promptly and efficiently. There is a small car park at the back and you do have to enter the hotel from the rear entrance. I don't consider that a major problem. There's no point nitpicking... I'm not looking for perfection. It's a student area and convenient for lots of places to eat and drink and there is a bar downstairs. You have to expect all that may go with it.

Out of desperation I had to meet my daughter that had become sick on a hike and this was the only location that had a room. It was small, poorly furnished, cold and when we had to go and take a shower it really came into its own. The ladies showers were not functioning so we were directed to the men’s. There was s thick slimy layer of muck on the floor tiles which obviously hadn’t been cleaned in a very, very, very long time. I felt so uncomfortable about using them that I lay a towel down on the floor so I could cope with slime.the water temperature wasn’t that good with bug in the end we got a cleanse. The staff weren’t helpful when I told them about the state of the showers so it was up to us, we stayed the night but am so glad that my daughter w able to get out of there the next day. Dreadful and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone

Me and a few friends stayed here as a weekend away hotel room wernt the cleanest and a lot of the beds damaged on arrival and our room wasn’t cleaned on second day. But the worst was spare rooms being rented to ************ who were sent by council his words. After arriving back drunk with friends one night we were welcomed by a lad on crack smoking it out of a water bottle on our landing he was pleasant enough at first until he was kicked out by his girlfriend became aggressive to her and smashed the room and knocked on our door when we told him to clear off. The next morning with little sleep and using yesterday dirty towels we were told our deposit would be taken for the disturbance on our floor none of witch was our fault and was this one drug addict and his mrs they were arrested and taken from the hotel rightly so on the early house 5am ish but we had a cash deposit taken from us for one of the room because we stood our ground and told a drug addict to clear off when being abusive classy move by management refusing to reimburse this deposit and even classier cocky attitude on the phone never have I had a cash deposit taken normally card and never have I had such a bad stay anywhere do not stay here unless you want dirty towels, no sleep, a stay with druggys and a extra £80 taken off you for no reason classy place and even classier response from management well done!!

Stayed for one night on route to Northumberland. Location is busy, back entrance / car park area is very unappealing, broken bottles, graffiti etc. Inside was pleasant but to call this a 'hotel' is a bit optimistic, not a B&B as there's no breakfast on offer but we did know that before we stayed. My main issue was no hot water so we had to cold shower, we brought this to the attention of the manager who said it was being fixed but as we had to check out the water was still cold. On checking out there was no sign of any staff, we rang the reception buzzer a few times but ended up just dropping the key through letterbox. I emailed the hotel with my concerns over cold water but no replies. Wouldn't stay there again.

For £56 a night (no frills) you can't ask for much more. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. Parking is free and marked out. I stayed as I was coming to watch the football at SJP - it is a nice walk into town, approx 25mins. I ate in the Turkish place next door which was very good and convenient. Will stay again when next in town.

We arrived at around 15:15 to be greeted by a chap who seemed a little unwelcoming. Check in was very slow as apparently the gentlemen couldn't find the booking even though we'd booked 4 months in advance. We eventually checked in after showing the booking confirmation on my phone (kind of felt like he didn't want us staying there). The room was up 3 or 4 flights of stairs, not ideal as I'm a chunky monkey lol! I'd definitely avoid if you have any physical disability or aren't as physically fit as you should be. The room in fairness was clean and airy, the only negative with regards to the room was the fact 3 out of 4 of the spotlights in the bathroom didn't work (not ideal as I'm partially sighted). The other problem was the fact that the occupier of the adjoining room was really noisy throughout the night. He left his room on at least 8 separate occasions during the night and wasn't exactly discreet! All in all we wouldn't stay again tbh, not that the gentlemen who dealt with us would want us to return.

Was greeted by a young chap who stated that after 10:30 pm there was no-one in reception, so I was given a key to get in, he stated that NO breakfast given despite the price paid!!!! The rooms stank of cigarettes smell, loads of cigarette ends just outside the window!!. Police knocked next door at 11:30 pm (very drunk people). Fire alarms went out at midnight and then every 10-15 min for ONE hour more! People next room had loud music and could hear all their talking until 4:30 in the morning!!! :(( (only stopped After I repeatedly had to bang on the walls!) At 6:30 am I could hear them in the toilet throwing up. Worst stay in my life! not worth it. Next morning, I rang the bell to speak with someone, the woman apologized as she knew the police was in but nothing else! I asked for my money back, she said that the owner will call me later but NEVER received a call, an apology, breakfast or compensation. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!

Booked for 3 nights as a family of 4. Booked via ***********. Wasn't until we arrived that we realised the hotel is situated on top of a pub. This is not made clear in any of the advertising. The pub was very busy as it was showing a Newcastle football game at the time. There is even a door leading directly into the bar half way up the hotel staircase. We arrived just before 9pm and after a friendly welcome, the man on reception told us he was leaving for the night and there would be no one on site. The noise from the bar and people out on the street drinking was very loud however we were told it closes at 11.30 on a Monday so will stop at some point. The street/bar did go quiet just before midnight. This wasn't the main problem we had with our stay. Soon after arrival I met a man in the stairwell who had clearly been drinking a lot. He told me he lived at the hotel. He said there was another man and a dog that also lived there. No problem so far. After 10pm this man came knocking on our door. We have two teenage girls and we were all in bed trying to get some sleep (despite the bar noise). We didn't answer and he left but then returned soon after. My husband answered. He also said the man was clearly drunk. He insisted that we take two bags full of his unwanted food that apparently he receives from the hotel each day. The man then went to his own room which was unfortunately next to our family room. The walls are like paper and with no double glazing either we could hear every word of the multiple phone calls he proceeded to make until approximately 3am. He also had his tv on the whole time, which we could clearly hear. The tv remained on until at least 5.30am. Just after 2am I had had enough and found a mobile number that is advertised on the hotel website. I messaged and asked for someone to help. I knew it was unlikely that anyone would respond at that time but didn't know what else to do. We didn't want to leave the room as we could clearly still hear the drunk man and didn't feel particularly safe. In the morning at about 9am someone did respond to my message. They said that I shouldn't have used that number and that the emergency number was printed downstairs on the reception/exterior door. This was two flights of stairs away. They told that someone would be on duty soon and that we should tell them about the disturbance. Thankfully we had booked via *********** and so we called and they agreed we were not safe to stay any longer. They cancelled our reservation and advised we leave the hotel as soon as possible. We did try and find someone on our way out to speak to and *********** also called reception but no one was there. Our money was refunded promptly by ***********. We also had a small dog with us and on arrival (and also notified to us prior to arrival) the hotel asked that we pay 10 pounds per night for the dog. We had no problem with this. However, the man on reception advised that we should not book via *********** as we could g
