Ruifang is the best base if you want to visit Jiufen and JinGuaShi by bus and Shifen, Houtong and Pingxi by train. Do note the minshu (hostal) provides clean and basic facilities and is suitable for families and solo travellers. Walls are a little thin but Joe ensures he spaces out the guests whether he can. He is extremely helpful with tips on food & places of interest.
Jiufen Golden House

The homestay is very good, the rooms are elegant and warm, clean and tidy. The hostess Xiaofen received a warm reception, introduced in detail the attractions and places to play, and made breakfast in person. The breakfast was good and the tea was very delicious. The room is relatively large, and three people can be accommodated when the sofa is released. Contact the store in advance and drive to the train station to pick us up. The homestay also has an observation deck. You can enjoy the panoramic view of Jiufen from a seat. Unfortunately, you can't stay a few more days to visit Jiufen, leaving you with regret. I will book this homestay next time I go to Jiufen and get together with Xiaofen.

The hot water time is too short, and the disposable slippers will be slippery when wet. It is recommended to put non-slip plastic slippers. The room is very clean, the neighbors downstairs are very warm, and the balcony is great. You can also see the train passing by!

I was surprised at the size of the room. there were two king beds, and low table and sofa. it was too big to make use of that nice facility, but still comfortable. The problem was the staff not being able to speak any English, but still they try to communicate. The sandwich they made for complimentary Breakfast was yummy. I would even pay for that.

2017 Dec 17-19. The family with the extended family had our quick getaway to Taipei. The trip consists mostly of zoo visit and tours. We had a glorious time, so we never managed to experience the hotel facilities too much. The proximity of the place to the tourist areas and price were consideration for the booking.

It is very beautiful, and the shower is taken, and it is easy to clean it to the next person after use. Amenities were also substantial, and sweets were placed on the floor of the third floor. I'm glad that it's about 15 minutes by bus to kufen old town.
