Residence Inn Mt. Laurel at Bishop's Gate

Anytime you see feral cats in the parking lot perhaps you have made a mistake in your choice of hotel. I had to make a last minute reservation over the memorial day weekend. The residence inn was well reviewed and we chose it. Clearly was not a Marriott experience and hardly worth $300 a night The check-in was somewhat chaotic but what really welcomed us to the negative experience was the rank smell of ********* throughout the entire second floor. The first floor carpet smelled if anything worse. The room itself was perfectly clean But not at all soundproof and was rather too much of an invitation to get to know your neighbors. In these Covid days one is used to there being low staff and no housekeeping. That having been said no one ever answered the phone so when you called. We called down four towels and it rang so many times when we hung up we had actually forgotten we were still on the phone. When we went down to ask for towels they looked at us and said sorry we have no towels. The free breakfast was worth what we paid for it being that they ran out of coffee at 8 AM and we headed to the Dunkin’ Donuts next door which thankfully had not run out of coffee at 8 AM. Hard to believe given how expensive the two nights were but it does appear to be more of an extended stay for families between residences. I probably am in 30 to 40 hotels a year and this was clearly the worst experience I’ve had.

My mom and I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks, and we cut our stay short due to an incident that happened at our door room. A skittish man, who apparently was not a guest at the hotel, had free access to the hallways and was standing at our door for around 10 minutes. Anyway, it was such a scary situation, and the hotel manager did not take the situation seriously after we had reported the incident three times at the front desk. On top of that, we found out there aren't any cameras in the hallway. Do they really take security that seriously as he said? The only positive thing about the hotel was the outstanding service we got from the front desk employees, such as Michael, Tammy, and Rebecca to mention a few.

Decent accommodations. The housekeeping team is really thorough and very polite and helpful. Front desk staff is decent to those who act decent toward them. Lots of upset customers when I’m traveling through so I can see why the staff may be unengaged. Having a Smoking room shouldn’t mean cigarette-burned comforter. Breakfast that’s advertised isn’t true. They only serve 6 oz cups of coffee and that even stops around 9. Steer clear of room 118, long term guests with loads of drama...EVERY EVENING. If you need utensils, don’t bother being polite and asking the restaurant that’s ten steps away from the hotel. You’ll get lectured on how “people” do this often, and how sick they are of it....I just offered to PURCHASE a plastic spoon. I didn’t sign up for a lecture. I had also patronized both parts of the restaurant since being a guest, but the rude manager that came out from the back to ask what I wanted wasn’t aware - nor did I think he cared. Bottom line- there is a Walmart and other restaurants up the road; as well as other hotels. Pick one.

Hospitality and cleanliness has taken a backseat at this establishment!! You are required to give 24 hours notice for housekeeping due to a staffing shortage. Ask yourself this, if this place has a shortage, do you REALLY think that your room will be thoroughly cleaned to prevent the spead of Covid-19? I don't think so. If protocols to ensure you have a guaranteed clean room are lessened due to staffing issues, I recommend staying at a different brand of hotel. Shame on you Hilton for allowing this practice under your watch. I was forced to check out after a 3 night stay because no one would clean my room. A 24 hour request for housekeeping at this point should be irrelevant to prevent a guest from checking out. General Manager, Scott Fisher and Assistant General Manager, Ignacio Fonseca agreed to follow this disgraceful practice. Seriously, the entire staff is operating at sub par standards. Don't waste your money or time here.

This is my 2nd time staying at this hotel. The service has always been good, the staff friendly and the value excellent in my opinion. The room is large and comfortable and the complimentary breakfast was an extra bonus for me. The location was good for me as well in terms of going back and forth to Philadelphia

Because I had points for one night and the rates were excellent, I only paid $217 for a Thursday through Sunday stay. The rooms were nicely appointed, clean in your typical business hotel style. They had a decent morning breakfast and it was located right off of route 73. Only 30 minutes to downtown Philly. I paid less than one nights stay for a long weekend in nearby South Jersey.
