Hotel Palme

The location was great, 5 minutes walk from the beach! We had a room with a nice view from the balcony. Staff was really friendly and helpful.

I had a lovely stay at Hotel Palme in April. The location was perfect - close enough to the train station and town and just one building off the beach. The balcony provided a nice spot to sit and enjoy the air although it didn’t have much of a view. The room was pretty basic but fit our needs. In room coffee and a hair dryer that actually provided some air would’ve made it perfect! If you need to dry your hair bring your own hair dryer. Oh and AC as it was pretty warm while we were there (my understanding is AC isn’t turned on until a certain date in Italy and it wasn’t on yet.) The bathroom was quite small and cramped but it worked just fine for us (I’m 5 foot 6 and had to sit sort of sideways on the toilet or my legs hit the shower!). Breakfast was great and had enough choices to make everyone in our group happy. Front desk staff was very helpful and could answer all of our questions. They were especially helpful about our hiking options. I will definitely stay here again on a future visit!

Facilities wise I would probably rate it 3 star but the staff are all lovely and make a difference. Our room on the 3rd floor missed out on beach views - not sure whether those on the front of the building get a view or whether it’s blocked by the building in front. However too was very clean and the bedroom spacious but let down by a bathroom so snug you almost needed to stand with one foot in the bidet to dry yourself. Good breakfast included and spacious courtyard to sit around in. It does have a lift - helps with those suitcases. It’s in the “new” area of Monterosso which I think is better for accommodation. Set back maybe 50m from the beach and an easy walk from the train station

First, let me start with the things that I liked about this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Any request was quickly attended to. The location is just about perfect. Very close to the sea, lots of restaurants, and incredibly beautiful scenery. I liked the complimentary breakfast. There were lots and lots of choices. Lots of fruits, breads, and pasteries. There is a nice cappuccino machine. The water pressure and temperature for the sink and shower were excellent. There were plenty of outlets available in the room. Now, let me tell you why I rated this hotel only a 3. The rooms are very plain and actually kind of shabby. There is no decoration on the walls. The tv is very small compared to most hotels. There is a refrigerator in my room, but it barely cools water lower than room temperature at the highest setting. The hairdryer in the bathroom has got to be from 1970. I have fairly thin, short hair, and it took forever to get it dry. I hate to be mean, but the owners really need to invest some cash into this hotel. It is advertised as a 4 star hotel, but I don't see how it got that rating.

Great location a short easy walk from the station and right near the beach. The room was spacious and very well laid out for storage options. We had a double room with a sitting room and it was worth it . Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was a bit of a tight fit but recently renovated by its appearance and very clean. A good breakfast with enough choices and regular top ups was included. This could be taken inside or in the lovely garden courtyard. The staff were all delightful , helpful, welcoming and efficient. I am sorry I didn’t get the name of the lovely woman at reception but her sense of humour was very welcoming. Monterosso is a gorgeous location although often busy with crowds during the day. I would love to return for longer than 2 days and hopefully it would be to this hotel.

The location was fantastic. Very close to the train station and the beach. There were lots of restaurants nearby. The breakfast was great and included lots of variety. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a nice sitting area outside. The air conditioning in the room was a much needed relief in late July. In the room I found the walls to be quite thin which made the room noisy. The hotel is older and definitely dated.

My wife and I had a wonderful overnight stay here during a two day journey to Cinque Terre with another couple. The hotel is on a quiet side street off the main coastal road in Monterosso al Mare, just a five minute (flat) walk from the train station. The front entrance has a large courtyard shaded with umbrella pine and royal palm trees. We arrived early, and the friendly staff stored our luggage for us until our room was ready. Check in time is 14:00 and check out time is 10:30. Our room was well-appointed with a metal shade and security windows. The shower is small - but typical for Italian hotels. We couldn’t get the climate control to work, but it got cooler as the evening progressed and we didn’t need it anyway. Our breakfast was continental-style and the fruit and pastries were very fresh. Coffee and tea are available any way you like (espresso, macchiato, Americano) and the machine is high-end and sophisticated. I can’t say more about the friendly hotel staff. They stored our bags again after we left and offered to let us use a shower and washroom later in the day after we checked out. Grazie Mille!! We highly recommend Hotel Palme for anyone contemplating a journey to Monterosso al Mare and the Cinque Terre National Park. Buon viaggio!!!
