Was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. They were working directly under our room at 8am on a sunday. Hammering and power tools and then the fire alarm went off and was told by the people in the hallway we had to evacuate. Was just a horrible morning. Consumers appreciate the fact that you want to improve your facility but please be mindful of your guests staying there especially on a weekend. The reason why we even stayed over night was to have a good nights rest after along Saturday evening. So it really was horrible to be woken up to banging and power tools when all I wanted was a good nights rest.

We have stayed at this property in the past and did not encounter the following situation. Had it not been for the alerts my bank sends when any charges hit my card, I would have never known. Apparently this property charges a $50 security deposit immediately upon check in along with the full charge for every night of the stay (whether in person or digitally). Once you check out, the charge is reversed and the regular charges for the stay apply. There is no prior notification on either the website for HIE, the local website for this property, details of the room nor the reservation conversation. I thought this a very sly and slick practice. Also the AC units in the rooms do not shut off; they have a permanent fan blowing. The temperature can be adjusted but the fan will continue to blow. The front desk suggested unplugging the AC unit but the cable goes right from the unit deep into the floor, not to an outlet; so this fix was not practicable. In the case of Room 236 which we stayed in, the in room safe was broken (looked like a forced entry if the prior guest didn't remember their combination; the lock was totally gone from the safe making it unusable). We've stayed before and will stay again; overall not a bad property; just a few minor glitches this stay.

My stay was nothing but the best! The staff went above & beyond in ever aspect! The front desk welcomed me & checked me in quickly - plus side if you are a Radisson Rewards Member you get a cute little welcome gift, This is what hospitality is all about! I stayed in one of there Junior Suites, this provided my family & I to have extra room to hangout & enjoy our stay! All the amenities such as pool, fitness center & restaurant were clean & up to date! We were close to downtown freehold as well as the mall so there was plenty of things to do in the area, I will be staying here for years to come!

As with many Marriott properties, this example has been updated and refreshed. Everything I need for a business trip is here including The Bistro where I can choose healthy meals ( or not :) . Also as is true with every Marriott property I have visited around the country, the staff is professional and very pleasant. The consistency of customer service is remarkable.

The Oyster Point is my home hotel. I grew up right across the river from it (literally, you can see my mum's house from the North Suite), and have many good memories of holiday brunches, and staying here when I was younger. When I moved away from home and wanted to visit, but not stay with family this was my ”go-to”. It's really the only decent hotel in the Middletown area. ...and that may be why they have let the hotel go a bit. I got engaged over Christmas, and while we didn't want to have a full on engagement party, we did want to celebrate with a few very close friends, and COVID being COVID we didn't want to do it in public, but also didn't want to do it at our house. So, we rented the North Suite for Valentine's Day weekend to stay and invited two other couples for a dinner in the room on Saturday evening. THE GOOD: The room is very large and has amazing views from just about everywhere of Red Bank and the Navesink River. In the warmer weather this room would be paradise with the very large terrace overlooking the river. It has 1 full bathroom in the bedroom and a half bathroom in the living area which makes it ideal to have guests over. There is also a table that seats 6 comfortably (tho oddly only has chairs for 5). The staff was wonderful. They always have been. Every time I have ever been to this hotel the staff is so friendly and helpful. (More on the downside to this shortly). We ordered room service for our dinner Friday night and it was quick and tasty and again the service from ordering to delivering was great! THE BAD This room looks great from a distance, but up close it needs A LOT of updating. The chairs around the dining table were full of chips. The table was in bad shape. The sofa in the living area was DISGUSTING with a stain that took up half of it. We covered it with a runner from the bed because it is really disgusting looking. The room is full of wall to wall windows with a great view of everywhere, but it's curious because the one wall that goes along the far end of the room by the bar the shade couldn't be put up or down. There was no string/rope/whatever to do anything with it. (the shades in the bedroom go up and down with the flip of a switch and are blackout curtains. They are perfect for the bedroom) The other shades in the living area do go up and down, but they hardly keep any light out... ...which is I guess a good thing since the lighting situation in the room is abysmal. Once the sun sets even with every single light on in the room you can hardly read a book with the awful lighting in the main room (lighting in the bedroom and bathrooms is fine). The sink in the main bathroom in the bedroom is no joke about 3 inches deep. You can't even wash your hands in it. I have no idea who thought this was a good sink, but most puddles after a sun shower are more functional. My check in and room were perfect by the absolutely lovely front desk woman who works 7pm when I checked in I wish I remembered her name… the very next day, I was overcharged $50 by a morning front desk employee who informed me they were “ sold out” and my “ only option would be to book through her” and she accepted 200 CASH “as long as I did the $25 deposit on a credit or debit card in my name”…. I was pressed for time and simply believed what I was being told in good faith as I’ve had never had an issue w a Hilton property over reservation charges and I am a Honors member for many years and much travel… suffice to say… I found availability for that night hours later when I had the time to review and attempt to book my third night…. Rooms were still(!) available online at rates lower that the 224 I was charged …. Third night I saved over fifty dollars by booking on Third party…. My suggestion is that prospective travelers Book Prior to stay and not reserve at front desk… this is common knowledge, but to tell me they were SOLD oUt and she was “ doing me a favor by extending my stay and allowing me to pay cash “( or perhaps ripping off both me and perhaps Hilton hotels ? I’m speculating on that… wish she had been accurate on my options if not outright LIE …. And I do not want to take Anything away from the great exp I had at check in ….the hotel is very comfortable without being modern in that way that NYC boutique hotels are… I find that sp**** mod look for hotel rather cold and pretentious…. Great smart TV w all access a clean room and all the amenities are what make this hotel a must if traveling to the area… just look thru Google hotels to find ur Very best rate .. and enjoy!
