I read the reviews before booking and saw some of the pictures so I knew we were taking a risk. I crossed my fingers we would get one of the clean rooms. I was a bit concerned when the receptionist pulled out a small piece of paper that I was asked to initial on 8-10 different lines acknowledging we wouldn’t do certain things like steal towels or leave “too much garbage” or cook food in the room… Upon getting out of the car and looking at how the parking lot and common areas were, I knew we would not be so lucky. Disgusting halls, trash all over the place, over flowing ash trays, and an expired certificate in the elevator. The door to our room had obviously been busted in at one point as the handle was super loose. The only thing I can say that was good about the room is that it had the hotel smell. I assume it is some sort of air freshener tablet hidden somewhere because the room was a FAR from clean. Nasty stains and black streaks on the walls and doors. Hairs on the sink and tub. The floor under the bathroom sink had obviously been swabbed with a mop as there were black dirt streaks. Linens on the bed smelled clean but had stains all over them so I assume no bleach is used. Fold out couch had no linens and was stained. Pieces of the ceiling and wall falling off. Curtains were stained. Desk was not sturdy and wobbled when a bit of pressure was applied. I killed a roach in the bathroom on our last day there. There was a coffee creamer lid taped to the peep hole to stop people from looking in? The last guests dry cleaning bag with his name was left sitting on the shelf. I honestly wasn’t looking for much in a hotel. We planned to spend our time at the beach, shopping and sightseeing. I just wanted a clean room with a comfortable bed that myself, by 6 month old son and his father could stay in. Really what sold me was the fact that you could walk to the beach. If his is your main reason for wanting to book here, I assure you there are plenty of public access points with much less walking. Not to mention safer walking as the path from the hotel to the beach is super sketchy with missing boards over grown trees etc. Which I know the hotel doesn’t control just something to be aware of. The staff was nice but I noticed they didn’t ask how my stay was when I was checking out haha I’m sure they know better. I also did not receive an email from Choice Hotels to take a survey which makes me think they purposely remove email addresses as I stay at Choice hotels often and always receive a survey. Breakfast was prepackaged pastries and Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches, granola bars and cups of yogurt but the juice machine was broken. Please please please take my advice and spend the extra $20ish dollars a night and stay somewhere else. I would have added pictures but there would have been so many. All the pictures on here are exactly what we saw!
