I give this hotel four stars because of two things: the outdoor dining area with a sea-view and the friendly staff. I am glad I was there mostly during dry weather, which allowed me to enjoy the outdoor seating. However, the 15 minutes or so that I spent inside in the sitting area when it rained, it felt like sitting in an unkempt living room of a big family. It was indeed a family business and many people, possibly family members were helping out. They were all very friendly. The little pool was often full. There seemed to be many day-visitors and at times it was very loud. As for Wi-Fi, although they kept saying ”connect to D-link”, there was mostly no internet with that link. The rooms were small and dark and did not give a very clean feeling. My bed-sheets had blood stains from mosquito bites of the previous guest. The family seemed to be cutting corners in many things. Even the soap was a left-over last piece of what looked like the soap used for doing laundry. Maybe local tourists had no problem with this, but I found it rather unclean. I am glad I had the experience and I did enjoy having a drink or two by the seaside. So, I can forget about the not-so-good stuff in the hotel.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel in Senegal. I had a deluxe room and it was quite big and clean and quite stylish which is important to me.) There was a kettle in the room and teas and coffees were daily replenished. Plus it had a small fridge inside. Each day there were two complimentary small water bottles put into the room. The things which were not so great about this particular room is the fact that it was dark and there was a wall seen which somehow was associated with the prison wall in my mind. I think that the wall can be disguised with beautiful climbing or trailing plants. The room had AC but it was quite noisy so I had to switch it off at night as I can only sleep in absolute silence. The room was cleaned daily. The towels were new and of good quality. There was a sign asking to think about the resources and only change them if necessary which I do agree with. There was also a TV in the room with a few French speaking channels and a couple of English speaking channels. I preferred to watch the French speaking channels as I was on holiday and wanted to be emerged in a different culture and language. By the end of my stay I could even understand a few French words. The territory of the hotel is beautiful and meticulously clean. The gardens are really looked after and they are a marvel to the eye. In my opinion the swimming pool is on the small side but it does serve the purpose. There are plenty of the sun lounges on the beach and I preferred spending time there reading my books looking at a beautiful coastline. Some of the food served was out of this world. Whoever is responsible for the food should get lots of praise and credit as it is of very high standard. The variety of food is also great. The deserts are very delicious. There was live music in the evenings and there was Senegalese folk dancers once. The Senegalese staff at this hotel are absolutely wonderful. They are very well mannered and really pleasant to talk to. They always looked smart in their beautiful Senegalese clothes and were an absolute pleasure to communicate with. You can walk to Sally along the coast or if you just get out of the hotel and walk for about 15 minutes. It's really sad that Senegal has lots of plastic litter in the streets and even in its beautiful African savanna. I took two excursions during my stay as I did want to combine the beach holiday and some sightseeing. I used Sénégal Découvertes Touristiques company, its representative was at the hotel once and I booked it with him. I did Dakar+Goree Island trip and Saloum Delta trip which both had a lovely lunch included and did cost around 55 pounds and 51 pounds respectively. I especially liked the second trip. I was told by another guest hat TUI used Nouvelles Frontieres for its trips. If you do it directly it will be much less than TUI price. In the evenings I did a walk along the ocean to sally and the views were great and the experience was wonderful. I absolutely loved this trip

I was staying at this hotel through an organization who I was partnering with to build a school in the area. I knew almost nothing about the hotel and was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. It is a lush tropical paradise right on the water. The grounds were covered with flowers and palm trees. There were lizards, birds and butterflies everywhere and it is right in the center of town. The people at the front desk were very warm and friendly (though they mainly speak French). They also have a bar and serve a decent buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner daily at the hotel. On Saturday night they have live music. The rooms were a decent size, though the beds and pillows were a little hard. The bathroom hot water also can get boiling to the touch so you have to be very careful with that. Overall, it was an unexpectedly great experience, aside from the beds and the overly hot water. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the area. There is also a great little reserve with zebras, ostriches, rhinos and other animals less than an hour away.
Baobab Soleil

Baobab Soleil was a very pleasant hotel to stay. These were the things I liked about the hotel: It was very close to the wildlife park, Foret de Bandia and the hotel shuttle could provide a ride to and fro for a fee. The hotel was also close to the airport, but since I was not flying in or out, it did not apply to me. There weren't too many staff members, only about three. They worked hard to provide services and were very friendly. The rooms were spacious, clean and had basic amenities. There was a large pool, which was open 24/7. Food was good although the menu was limited. There were alcoholic drinks to purchase. There was Internet access at the restaurant area. The surrounding area had many baobab trees making the name Baobab Soleil very fitting. One could take walks around the area with no safety concerns. Suggestions: If possible, have an Internet router so that people who like to do some work or read online could read in their rooms or patio instead of going to the restaurant, which is often loud with people talking and also has a lot of flies. Also the weaver birds on the large tree close-by make quite a racket that can be tiring after a while. I was there 3 nights and wished to do some work in my room, but could not do that and was a bit disappointed. All in all, it was a good 3-night stay at the hotel.
The Rhino Resort Hotel & Spa

Very nice room, original, very pleasent decoration. Excellent bathroom, very complete, large, original. All facilities extra clean. Good, safe parking. Very good internet. Reception team efficient & friendly. When I left I forgot my glasses in the room. They called me from the Hotel two days later asking whether they sent me the glasses, or kept them there till my next visit. Garden & swimming pool excellent. The only area to improve is the range of breakfast dishes, it was quite limited.
