Just had a four night stay, such a comfortable, friendly, fantastic place to stay. We loved it from the minute we arrived. So relaxed, staff super friendly and a great little bar with wonderful entertainment. Definitely had the best pint of Guinness ever. Well done to all the staff doing such a great job. Looking forward to returning. Highly recommend.

We stayed for 5 days in the valley hostel and we had a ball! The bar was great craic, lovely food and the staff are so helpful and friendly! The beds are very comfortable and there’s charging ports for each bed so no fighting over sockets! Bathrooms are pretty modern and a good shower too! ( also provided with towels) I’d highly recommend and I will be returning!

Had a most comfortable and happy stay at the Valley House. The occasion - my daughter's 40th. We stayed in the main house, a gem of Victorian times which wears its great age with grace. We were warmly greeted by our host who wasn't a bit perturbed that we wanted to hit the bar for a breather after a long journey from Dublin before we went to our rooms. The bar in the Valley House is special. A turf fire and very friendly barman helped us down from the 5 hours drive. (We stopped for lunch. Our rooms were fine, adequate for our needs. The Valley House is special. It's not the first time I have been there but the first time I have stayed. The house, being gently ushered into the 21st century, by Pat and Alice, is a small treasure. It has some very fine features,.large reception rooms, huge fireplaces and some original flooring. It's like no other 'hostel' I have ever known. We had a ball. I think it's safe to say we all had a ball. Great place for a party. Warm and welcoming hosts, lovely bar staff, great music sessions, and yes .. there's a fairy trail in the ground. We didn't venture this time. Next time

Very friendly place for a drink, but I can't recommend staying here if you need darkness to sleep. Room has a window to the hall light and a bright green light from the smoke alarm. Shower doesn't drain, so is dirty and overflowing. Could be a great place to stay, but I was unable to sleep with all the lights.

Like many old, historic houses, this place is creaking. It's lovely to look at and stay in but several things weren't up to scratch: my shower wasn't working properly and when it was, the water was never hot enough for me. The breakfast was basic (fruit, toast and beverage) and there were repairs going on on the first floor where my room was. To be fair, the upgrade is in progress and the staff are friendly and helpful. There's a kitchen and fridge to make your own meals and a TV in the lounge where I was able to watch both semi-finals of the Champions League. Also Mr Gallagher, the owner, is charm itself.

Our worst stay in 2 weeks touring Southern Ireland. I cannot understand the good reviews. We were FREEZING! They kindly allowed us to check in early - 3.30 pm, standard check in was a late 4.00 pm. We were so cold in the room, my husband got into bed! I asked the staff and proprietor about it twice, and were told the heating didn’t come on till 5.00pm. Then, the heating wasn’t on in the morning, until quite late. There were no amenities in the room - no glass for water, no hair dryer. Surely the basics to provide. The included Continental breakfast did’t surprise us - bags of bread, everything in packets. Then we were expected to clear up ourselves! Maybe the term “Hostel” should have provided a clue. And the room wasn’t cheap by the standards we have experienced in Ireland. We couldn’t wait to leave, and seek out the warm generosity and hospitality we have experienced and enjoyed in Ireland so far.

Did not stay there but went for the bar and music which were great. I gave it 1 star solely for the state of the approach road which 300 yards long apparently, its an absolute disgrace, You couldn't drive around the potholes because they cover the whole road from beginning to end. I was in first gear the whole way, it was a hire car and no way would I take my own up that "road". I can't stress how bad it is

WOW! WOW! WOW! What a fantastic place! Food was amazing, Burgers Wings fish and chips stir-fry were all top notch. Accomodations were the best, all the staff were curious attentive and professional. Music was incredible nice variety throughout the week. We will be back. Thank you Valley House for a great vacation!

We did not stay in hostel, but went to go to session in bar. Road is an absolute disgrace, by far the worst stretch of road I ever had the misfortune to travel on. Surely a load of gravel would alieviate the problem to some extent. Really not acceptable in this day and age
