The Old Winter Palace is the grand old dame of Luxor. The hotel is extremely atmospheric. However, it needs to be clearly said that an upgrade of the rooms will soon be needed. However, this did not impact my general impression of the hotel. I had a classic room on the third floor, with Nile view. The room had a balcony, which was brilliant. The hotel staff are all extremely kind and helpful. The restaurants (I tried the 1886, the La Corniche, as well as the pool-side restaurant) were all very good, and the service was excellent. breakfast in la corniche was good. What I would suggest here would be to open the windows for some fresh air - and possibly even considering an the construction of an outside terrace. Variety of food and quality of food was great. Coffee was served in a French coffee press. - It feels hard to describe the hotel - it just felt ”right”. I would defnitely stay there again, and will recommend to others.

SCAM! DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL - THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY! I should have read other sites' review since it has happened to different people already. They charge you 2 or 3 times in your cards by telling you that they do not get paid by the booking system (Hotels.com Booking, etc) so they ask for your card again, or for a different card (in my case) to pay for the stay; but in reality they have made the charge through the booking place (illegally, as you haven't consented to that!). Suffice to day they have been playing dumb since I contacted them to explain the problem - they just ignore that fact saying they dont see double payments. I didn't think an established ”hotel” would do that as well - we experienced a lot of scamming and robbery in Luxor; EVERY person in Luxor is trying to steal from you in one way or another - sadly this hotel does the same. I cannot even advice to stay somewhere else, as all of Luxor seemed to operate in scams and cheating. The only thing I can advise is ”DO NOT GO THERE” - or if you must, go with a fully booked and paid Tour so you do not need to deal with this disgusting situation.

I liked the hotel. Everything is fine in the room. Except that there is no TV remote control, but if you asked, they would give it to you. The refrigerator is steaming like it was stung, the water froze overnight)) when leaving the hotel, immediately to the left is the Alley of Sphinxes. Turn left again through the intersection to the Catholic Church, after a 10-minute walk, Luxor Temple. All this time you go to the parking lot of horse-drawn carts))) to the right 10 minutes by car to the Karnak Temple, but by car you will still go through the Luxor Temple, it’s more convenient to go around the Sphinxes. If you go right from the hotel, take 100 steps and shops, local cafes and restaurants begin at the intersection. At 12 at night, many are still working, you can buy water and a snack. Wine and vodka is also open there in one of the alleys until 12, if you want something stronger than beer. There are at least two exchangers on the street in the direction of the Luxor Temple along the horses and sphinxes. I have attached all the photos. By the way, don’t be scared by the view of downtown. The second night here I walked in dark alleys, I never got stopped)) in general there is a feeling of safety, taking into account the specifics)))

The overall situation in the hotel is good, but the person in charge of pick-up and tourism is very, very, very rude. Their pick-up and travel plan can be booked, but there must be an Egyptian pound nearby. There is a very fair exchange for money. The carriage outside can be taken, no matter how it is to insist on a dollar, you can save some walking strength. The boss himself is very fake. The boss's daughter is good, but he has no decision at all. So it is the other partner with a bad attitude who is opening the price casually. The Iberotel Luxor is in an excellent location overlooking the Nile (and 15 minutes from the train/bus station). Am so happy I chose to stay here. The Nile facing room is well worth the slightly higher price. My room was a good size with a fridge, lots of closet space, two arm chairs and a table. Only minus was that the sockets are oddly far from the bed. The balcony is great for sitting in the evening or at night or whenever it's not hot. It's quiet though the outside bar was playing a soccer game. Otherwise, no noise at night. Also no wifi issues anywhere in the hotel. The bathroom is functional but could use a bit of updating. The morning breakfast buffet had everything (breads, omelet bar, fruits, veggies, jams, cheese, meats, yogurts, dips, sweets, juices) and I went back for seconds and thirds every day. The pool area is lovely and right next to the Nile. Plenty of chairs and you can order from the cafe or just nap. All the staff from the waiters to the manager are nice and helpful. I walked to the sights, shopping and restaurants but obviously there are taxis and horses waiting outside. I was very happy, stayed an extra night and would absolutely recommend.

We had an excellent time here with my friends! Happy was so nice and drove us around Luxor on his bike, which was alone a great experience. Plus, the food is copious and really good, the staff is welcoming and helped us get taxis and ferries for very low prices. We also had the chance to see Happy’s new hotel in West Bank, Peace and Freedom Guest House Hotel; it’s a great place with a beautiful view and big rooms. I highly recommend!
