DoubleTree by Hilton Damai Laut Resort

The location is quite secluded, good if you’re expecting some peace away from the hustle bustle of the city life. However I expected a cleaner beach but disappointed to see litter (plastic bottles) and a dead huge jellyfish! Totally a turnoff 😰 as I was looking forward to spending some time at the beach. Good thing is the hotel provided a tap to wash our legs before proceeding back to the hotel. One health and safety (HSE) improvement point, the end of each step at the stairs to the beach can be painted a yellow line as it was difficult to distinguish each step for my aging parents with blurry eyesight. The kids pool is perfect if u have kids but there’s no adult pool for swimming. Again, a disappointment for the adults. There is a kids club which is nicely decorated. For adults, the gym is opposite the kids club with a great view of the sea 🌊 Personally this was the highlight of my trip. For dinner, we tried the dinner buffet on Thursday RM88 per person. However the front desk didn’t inform us that we had to reserve, even when we asked, they confirmed we did not have to reserve. When we went to Makan Kitchen at 6.30pm, the staff informed us that indoor seating is fully reserved and we had to sit outside. From the other reviews, we already knew the resort had a fly problem (they even provided a fly swatter in the room), so we were dining with the flies outside. We nicely asked if we could be moved inside once the people sitting inside were done eating. We were dining until 9+pm but the staff continued to ignore us even though there were empty tables and there were about 5 tables that didn’t turn up for their reservation. The next morning at breakfast, I went to the egg counter and asked for fried egg whites, please look at the second picture, and tell me if anyone would eat that full of burnt pieces? The first picture is the weekend breakfast which has roti canai. The sunny side up is pre-prepared. So lesson learnt, don’t bother ordering customized orders 🤣 In conclusion, nice resort if you have kids to entertain , otherwise don’t bother.

Areas need to improve😶😶: the BBQ need to cook in larger quantities during dinner buffet service ie - seafood, cockle. Salmon is dry, more beverage variety. Love♥️♥️: breakfast buffet spread, perhaps the juices can use real fruit cold press instead of cordial juice, pool facilities with water slide and outdoor stuff. The staff are exceptionally helpful 🤩. 🍪🍪we got warm biscuit upon checking in.

The property is well maintained with direct access to the beach. The outdoor pool was amazing with many water slides for kids to enjoy. Aside from this, they have a kids room where you can drop your kids while you enjoy spa day with your partner. Room was big and clean. In room dining as well as breakfast and dinner at their hotel restaurant had many choice and all taste good!

Room is spacious, but the assigned room was quite far away from the lobby, need do a lots of walking. The pool is big, very suitable for family with kiddos. One drawback about this resort is the flies, especially inside the cafeteria, the staff told me is because of the season. Cafe manpower need to be enhanced, no one willing to collect the used plates. Other than that everything is good, and the resort is also very windy.

A good and pleasant stay, breakfast and dinner buffet was excellent, friendly staff, but no other shops around the area.

Courteous staff and very helpful. Clean and cosy place but really secluded, need owned transport to get around. Monkeys did their business on our car parked at parking area.
