Firstly, we marked it is honeymoon stay but there is no gesture of welcoming you for a honeymoon stay at all. We booked £310 for Deluxe Room per night in a rural area. They allowed us early check in but they don’t even write us a card for honeymoon stay or anything. We booked the restaurant at £80 per head but the menu is totally different from what shown online. It is not professional at all. They front office is also unfriendly to Chinese and the staff has a sense of hierarchy. I felt disgusting for it. The only good thing is the breakfast. Thank you.

My partner and I dined at The Slaughters Manor Restaurant on Saturday 4th May with two of our friends and it was thoroughly enjoyable and the food was delicious. We had a lovely welcome from the receptionist who showed us through to the lounge for us to enjoy a pre dinner drink. Conor, who I believe is the Restaurant Manger, took our food order and made some wonderful wine recommendations which some of our party took him up on. We were then escorted down to our table in the restaurant which was beautiful. The restaurant was almost full and there was a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The food was exceptional with our standout dishes being the Dover Sole and Lobster Mousse, the Isle of White Tomatoes, the Hogget and the Strawberry dessert was out of this world (I ate two). To our surprise we were given an amuse and a pre dessert which were delicious. We then opted to enjoy some cheese to finish our meal. This was accompanied by a sheet with information about each cheese which I found extremely interesting and informative. All the staff were polite and knowledgeable and could not have been more attentive. We will definitely be back again and will look at staying over next time.

One star is too generous for this hotel. I immediately had a bad feeling upon arrival with a “check-in isn’t until 3 PM” greeting. Turns out that feeling was 100% accurate. Asked to have my bags stored until check-in then wandered the hotel to find a restroom, all while two staff members never looked up to offer directions, or any information about the hotel and surrounding area for that matter. This set the tone for my two night stay. Any time I asked a staff member a question, they looked petrified due to lack of knowledge and customer service skills (basic questions like hikes/walks around the area, is it possible to have ice sent to my room, are you serving lunch today, can I order a latte, do you have a wine key). The rooms are filthy - dust, bugs in bed, spiders, hair in bathrooms, a mini fridge that was barely cold and crusted spillage at the bottom. Milk for coffee was left in the room, but stored in an insulated container (apparently as faulty as the mini fridge) therefore it was spoiled. In addition, they seem to be understaffed. For example, the bartender was never at the bar (saw him moving furniture at one point) and the housekeeper appeared to be overwhelmed given a guest’s leftover room service dishes sitting out in the hall all day. Breakfast is included but not edible (the eggs were the same color as the salmon) and the coffee is merely brown water. Upon check out, a gentleman ahead of me was complaining about how the kitchen ran out of food during dinner service the night before and the staff’s response was “that’s not the feedback we typically receive” accompanied with an unwillingness to make it right. I voiced some of the above concerns and was told they’ll use the information for training purposes. I’ve never paid so much for such lackluster service and filth accommodations. My airport hotel at the Sheraton in Charlotte was cleaner, offered a better atmosphere and more amenities than Slaughters Manor House. Hate to end on a negative so here’s your one positive - if you tend to travel with an old IPod, you’re in for a real treat, as the room includes an iPod docking station with surround sound speakers. Stay anywhere but here, don’t even stop for a meal or drink, many wonderful options nearby.

We visited the Cotswolds for our nieces wedding. When looking for accommodations we didn’t need to look any further once we found SMH. It is everything and more!

Beautiful hotel from the outside but such a disappointment. Massively overpriced, shambolic service from check in onwards and the room was not sufficiently clean. Being asked to arrive at the bar 30 minutes prior to our reservation time for an evening meal, for the convenience of the kitchen, was just one example. I’m still waiting for the juice we ordered for breakfast and was scolded on arrival for not telling them about our child (I had) and our dog (I had) - they then openly discussed not having enough linen in front of me. It was Easter and they seemed short staffed (those that were there were having to turn their hand to everything) but that’s not sufficient an excuse in my view. Bordering on Fawlty Towers at times with Ritz prices. We left after one night. Only positive on departure (apart from leaving) was that they were keen to take the feedback onboard.

We went to Slaughters Manor House during Cheltenham week, it was busy but we had great service from everyone throughout our stay. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was delicious. There was a good choice at breakfast. Our room was comfortable and well decorated and there were good quality toiletries in the bathroom. And finally - my test of a good hotel - real milk for our in-room tea and coffee!

Enjoyed a lovely family tea during the Christmas holiday. We were treated to a room of our own as well as warm mugs of mulled wine. After the lovely meal, we were invited to relax with after dinner drinks in the cozy library by a roaring fire. Magical family experience.
