Travelodge London Bethnel Green

We stay here at Bethnal Green when visiting relatives in Hackney. The Travelodge is well situated - 5 minute walk to Bethnal Green Tube station with plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby - Sainsbury’s Local 1 minute walk. The rooms are clean and tidy and just what you need. Breakfast is good value too with everything you could want. Michelle on front of house was very friendly and welcoming to us. Parking on a Sunday is free right through to 0800 Monday morning. A really good base and great value for central London

Pros Not too bad a location, can get a little uncomfortable at night for solo travellers while heading back as there are few people loitering around. Smart rooms, control panel control the lights and the signs for the door. Compact room but it's cosy for one. Cons (scary encounter) Someone rang my doorbell and tried to force open the room door in the middle of the night. Luckily i locked it from the inside and door couldn't be opened. It happened twice within the same night. There was no room phone so i had to call the hotel from my own mobile, and feeling puzzled, 2 staff came up to my room to clarify. They then told me a drunk 'guest' was 'assisted' to come up the hotel rooms, but she had actually went to the wrong hotel. Weird explanation, because firstly, a room key is needed to access the lift. Secondly, if the person who assisted the drunk guest is a hotel staff who owns a master key since he's able to access the lift, he should've verify her identity prior to allowing the guest up the rooms premises. Its a safety concern. What if I did not lock the room door from the inside? The drunk guest could have just barged in and i as a female, was staying alone. Lastly, there was no kettle, only 2 bottles of water.

The room can accommodate three people. There is a sofa that can be turned into a bed. The bathroom is very spacious and clean. It is necessary to note that the UK hotel basically has no toothpaste and toothbrush and the slippers need to carry the hotel. The hotel has a buffet breakfast £7.5. An ibis is a choice that I will go to in many countries. The hotel chain Accor Group's blessing quality is very guaranteed and the price is moderate for students to accept

Great hotel next close to Aldgate East tube. If you are Accor member you can check in early if they the room is available otherwise it is 10 pound. Rooms are decent size especially the triple room. Shower was wet room style in the triple room whilst the twin room had an enclosed shower. There was some noise which was due to some road construction traffic on the first night but didn’t notice it on the next night on the weekend. Fully stocked bar with plenty of seating for a late night drink. Service at reception was excellent. I had booked breakfast but because I wanted to check out early at 4am in order to join queens lying in state queue the receptionist offered to provide a takeout continental breakfast which duly came with a hot drink too the next morning. That was so good of them to do that. Only downside to hotel were the homeless people who congregated outside in front of the Tesco express. The later the day went the more drunk and sometimes aggressive they got. Not the hotels fault but a bit unnerving for a solo traveller or families with children.

On arrival was shown around the apartment and given key fob. Pleasent and friendly staff as shown to apartment, In the room we had there was two double beds, which very comfortable and a good nights sleep was had by both of us. The duvet was perfect and not cold at all in the room. In our room was a fridge, microwave, kettle (with free tea and coffee), hob, wardrobe, iron with ironing board, fans and heaters too. There was also a flat screen TV. The bathroom was small, but just what needed. Good shower with good water pressure and heat. There is a boiler and central heating in the apartment, worked absolutely fine. The location is great, with great transport links from Whitechapel station on underground lines District, Hammersmith and City, Also Elizabeth line and London Overground. Less than five minute walk from the apartment. There is also bus stop just a few metres from the apartment, A lot has been mentioned about the noise. This is a busy area of London in Zone 2, So noise is to be expected. It was not intrusive and did not cause any problems at all during our stay. For the price and location, would not hesitate to stay here again.

Really great stay from the great hospitality and service from the check in all the way to my check out. The food was great, amazing bar and restaurant on the balcony too with an unreal panoramic view of London. Great leisure and boxing space in the gym too. If the price remains reasonable I will be back!
