We got a really good rate through the Trip website. Kelsey on reception changed our room because there was no bath in the first room. The staff at the hotel were very smartly dressed. The food at breakfast was excellent. We are two nights in Macleod. Again the food was excellent. We would recommend this hotel. The only negative was if you hadn’t booked a spa break you had to pay £30 each to use the pool.

We have always nipped to the coniston for a quick night away! Close to home fab spa, feels like you’re miles away from home! Last time I stayed with mother in law and had a few problems with house keeping mentioned it to staff, thought be ok as Been a couple of months saw a deal to up grade to stay with hubby went along lovely relaxing spa as always I’m soo glad we didn’t pay for the upgrade as so disappointing with the room.. to say you can get a good standard hotel at a better quality is unreal!! An upgraded deluxe room should be deluxe I can’t see how.. ? They was marks all over the head board and the house keeper hadn’t checked the bedding as big rips in the duvet cover, not just 1, mold all by the door and onto the Lino. No one especially guests should breathe in mold spores!! I did do an on line review from the hotel with no response.. but to me it’s not 4 star it’s at best 2 stars for its rooms ! For how expensive it is! The evening meal was nice and the young gentleman was a pleasure to have excellent service from him .

Went here with friends for food never again ! The food was expensive and bland. My friends had the fish and chips which where soggy and tasteless. I had a burger which again was bland - the chips were over cooked and the plate looked very unappealing just a burger and a few chips on the plate so it even looked bland perhaps use smaller plates or out a bit of salad on there so it looks worth paying £22.50 (£5 for cheese and bacon jam ! Too expensive) My daughter had the overcooked chips and pizza - to be fair the pizza was nice. My other daughter had max and cheese which came out cold and she has had runs ever since 🙄. Not sure how you get food poisoning from pasta but they managed it ! I found the staff hit and miss two where very polite and attentive the others could not be bothered at all - we got the feeling they where getting fed up waiting for our order (due to catching up and enthusiastic children) id understand if it was busy but there was only 10 people in. Beautiful surroundings I’d go for a drink but would definitely not eat there again

Hi, I stayed at your establishment with my now fiancé, on 20/04/2024 til 21/04/2024 and what an absolute pleasure it was. The staff were fantastic! Thomas at the front desk was such a lovely and polite chap. Our room was great and the food was outstanding! The grounds and scenery are beautifully breathtaking. The Coniston was the perfect place to propose to my partner and she said YES! So that made our stay even more perfect! we can’t wait to come back later in the year! We didn’t catch the two girls names at the front desk on the morning we checked out, but they were fabulous and both will remember my partner showing off her engagement ring to them. Thomas and these two girls, are three of the most professional and polite people we’ve ever come across in hospitality and their service and excellent manner, are a credit to your establishment. We will be back later on in the year and again for a family wedding next year and we can’t wait! Thanks again. Kyle Armitage & Fiancé :)

We have visited 4 times now, and find the hotel very relaxing. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and competent, rooms are clean and comfortable, though our pillows were very hard this time. I asked housekeeping to change one, and it was done immediately. We stayed in a superior room with balcony this time, due to a very good offer. Although the walk to the room was substantial, this meant that being located at the far end of the hotel made the location almost silent. The unbroken views were excellent, far reaching over the swan filled lake and to the hills beyond. We chose to eat in the bar, though the separate room for dining is as good as a small restaurant. Would have liked more choice on the bar food menu. Fabulous breakfast with good service. If you are looking for time off, then this is the place.

Me and my wife got married here in 2019 and we’d always planned to come back at some point. We stayed in the Dales room which was lovely and modern. It had a very comfy bed (queen size?), a nice modern bathroom (separate bath and shower), there is plenty of space in this type of room, AC, tea and coffee making facilities (biscuits, crisps & chocolate bars etc) fridge, room service available, TV and a nice terrace over looking the lake at the back although we didn’t use it as it’s late April and was chilly. Arrived on the Friday 24th April around 4pm, check in was easy, not long after check in we had drinks in the bar and then our evening meal next to the log fire around 6:30 / 7ish in the main restaurant in the evening, the food and drink is very good, typical hotel prices for a pint of Moretti (£6.50), the cocktails however were reasonable at £10 each, usually they are between £15 / £20 out in Leeds etc. We both had steak which was cooked lovely, prices for food again I’d say typical for a hotel, £36 per steak. I think our total bill throughout the Friday was around £170 this was for food and drink, again reasonable? The Saturday we attended the spa, this for me is where I feel it could be improved, I’m comparing the spa here to the Crow Wood Hotel & Spa resort in Burnley. At the Coniston spa there is a swimming pool, 2 x hot tubs outside over looking the lake, sauna and steam room and for me there wasn’t much in the way of different pools, massaging water jets etc, relaxation areas etc, don’t get me wrong it’s not bad but I’ve been to better. As said, we had our wedding day here, it’s a special place to us and we would always return however I do think there are better equipped spas, we didn’t have a massage or any treatments so I cannot comment on that. Its a solid 4.5 out 5 for me, it’s a lovely place, lovely location, the room we had was decent, I’ve seen some reviews slating the rooms, I can only think they’ve paid for entry level rooms (you get what you pay for). I would will return.

This hotel really is just average. We travelled as a group- 4 rooms celebrating a family birthday. The staff are on the whole miserable, lack engagement and at times rude. One particular lady at check in made the worst first impression. When arriving at 2.30pm I asked if we could check in, her response was curt. Check in at 3pm, no other conversation! We ordered champagne in the bar, it wasn’t chilled, which for £75 is ridiculous- an Ice bucket wasn't available only a wine chiller which only keeps bottles chilled it doesn’t actually chill them. The restaurant food was good but overpriced really for what it was. Although the staff at dinner were a lot friendlier than any other time. The hotel had a wedding on and it does really spoil the relaxing atmosphere of the terrace and the small bar area which is overrun with wedding guests so as a hotel guest there wasn’t space for us to have a drink late afternoon. The rooms are clean and spacious but somewhat basic, we had deluxe ones and they are looking tired in places. Breakfast was nothing spectacular, the poached eggs were cold and the hostess again was unwelcoming and rude. The housekeeping staff line the hallways stood on their phones without even a hello! All in all the hotel is just average, which is a shame because the grounds are beautiful!

Our 2nd stay and third visit as we came for my surprise birthday meal October 2023. Room 52, tea and coffee, TV, heating, hairdryer, airy, clean with a comfortable bed and a nice walk in shower bathroom. Plenty of storage space for clothing for our 6 night stay. Restaurant. You need to book for your evening meal and if you get a window seat you are treated to a wonderful view over the lake. Great menu and the food is delicious. Breakfast menu is fabulous. The eggs florantine and royal are just amazing. Staff are ALL brilliant. The hotel spa is bookable in advance and you can spoil yourself with treatments and outdoor whirlpool. Definitely recommend and we will return again.
