We are so glad we chose to stay here - everything was wonderful and we felt well taken care of. The hotel is beautiful and centrally located - we were able to walk to many attractions and the neighborhood was fun to explore. The staff's attention to detail and pride in the hotel was evident - from reception, to the restaurant to housekeeping - everyone was friendly and professional. We felt taken care of and welcomed by everyone we encountered. Just after booking, we read some negative reviews about the Bica rooms that made us nervous enough to wonder if we should upgrade. After seeing our room in person (Bica 7), we felt much better, and by the end of our stay, we knew we would be happy to stay in that room again. The Bica rooms are not 'in the basement' as some other reviews have stated. While they are on floors below main reception, keep in mind that the hotel is on a steep hill and these rooms look out over the downward slope. Our floor to ceiling windows were still above street level, and we were afforded a beautiful view of the pedestrianized old town streets below. Yes, there are some buildings across the streets with windows that face the hotel, but we never felt a lack of privacy - for one, the room had sun shade blinds on all windows that diffused the bright Portuguese sunlight, but they also provided privacy from anyone who might happen to look into our room from the windows across the street (they didn't). It is something anyone who has lived in a city would be familiar and comfortable with. We heard street noise only when the garbage was being collected, and the windows provided enough soundproofing to ensure that noise was very light and brief. Our room was very spacious, and even with the sun shades down, there was plenty of natural light and it felt airy and gracious. The AC kept the room comfortable, and we were happy to spend the hottest hours of each day relaxing in the room. The bed was huge (and one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in). The bathroom is small, but beautifully designed. The shower water pressure was glorious and we appreciated the Aesop toiletries. The hotel was currently doing renovations on our floor, but you would never know it. There were a few discreet renovation notices on doors and we saw some workmen during the day, but the sound was well insulated behind multiple doors and we were never disturbed. The privacy was actually remarkable - even though the hotel was fully booked during our stay, it was never noisy and we never felt crowded. We saw other guests occasionally, but it never felt like we were competing for space in the common areas or for the staff's attention. We enjoyed lunch and cocktails at the rooftop bar every day (I do not drink and appreciated the no-alcohol cocktail options), and our visit to Suba on the last night was nothing short of exceptional. I encourage you to make dinner here a part of your stay, you will not regret it. The nightly turn down service was such a

Raw Culture Art & Lofts Bairro Alto

Baixa Lisbon|0.6km from Church of Our Lady of Mercy
It started out rocky as the pickup we booked via hotel was 30 min late to get us at the airport. However the rest of our stay was still so good that I am willing to give it five stars. Room - huge lofts with kitchen and king bed and 3 half baths. No tub but shower was nice and strong. Concrete floor was great as we visited Lisbon in 100 degree weather. The robe and slipper provided were high quality as was the large bath towels. It was a nice touch to get a free liter of water and a small wine as a welcome Breakfast - included with our stay is awesome. Freshly made to order as this place only has 12 lofts. We got scrabbled eggs every day that came with these tomatoes and sliced ham that was simply delicious. Location - is in the midst of bars and restaurants. Many good places nearby. Thankfully with double pane windows, it was pretty quiet for us to sleep even though many party late in the night outside. Only inconvenience is Uber or bolt cannot pick up at door as its in an alleyway. Need to walk 100ft to Main Street to get a Uber or bolt. Bed - roomy and comfortable. They do put two twin together with a big cushion on top but it was very nice bed. Staff - super friendly and helpful. Maria checked us in and was very nice and Philip gave us free welcome drinks and showed us to a restaurant right outside he liked. We liked it too and had a nice dinner for only 30 euros of sardines and grilled sea bream. Yum. I would definitely book again.

Sao Bento Classic by Homing

We have an alternative arrangement since the hotel is not available and not until the day before I was informed when I would to enquire about the check in matter. Yet, the new apartment is spacious and comfy with private toilet. It is located at the heart of Lisbon which is very convenient to wonder around. The things to pay attention is that the building is quite new and no elevator so be mindful if you have huge luggage. There could also be spare necessities eg toilet paper for easy access when running out. Overall a decent place to stay with a very affordable price!
Lisbon Serviced Apartments - Bairro Alto

We booked a week at the Lisbon Serviced Apartments - Bairro Alto based on positive reviews from previous visitors. The (eight room) four story apartments are located in the old hilly section of the city where steep and narrow sidewalks are the norm and are slippery during rain. The main entrance is via a short alleyway. Access to the outer main door entrance and individual apartments are very 21st century in that there is no reception. The outside door has a cypher lock and guests use a reservation number to get in. Once inside the 'lobby' space there is a kiosk/screen to check in and get an assigned room and cypher code for your room. The kiosk has language selections to help with directions. There also a one-way phone to speak with a person/assistance. The machine scans documents, i.e., passports or European ID cards. It took me ten minutes and the final phase was to take a photo of the QR square displayed to keep track of your room number and access code. There are four floors with two apartments on each floor. There is an elevator and stairs. The rooms are spacious and well outfitted with a mini kitchen, including dishes, cooking ware, dishwasher, clothes washer and refrigerator. The clothes washer is great, we used it and dried clothes on a clothes hangar that was stashed in the closet. There is a comfortable queen size bed with a large flat screen hanging on the opposite wall. A closet has a self-use strong box with directions (in English) to set-up a personalized multi-digit code during your stay. The bathroom is roomy with a shower stall instead of a bath. Plenty of windows, including in the bathroom. The cross street is named Rua Do Poco Dos Negros and is a main line for the local trams that pass through the neighborhood, with a tram stop maybe 100 feet from the apartments. Taxis pass through here as well. Small restaurants are plentiful within a 15-minute parameter. The popular Plaza del Comercio is about a twenty-minute walk or a Three Euro Tram ride away. Aside from steep streets, the area is safe, even a night. The apartments are a clean, good bargain for staying in Lisbon.
Flores Guest House

Located on in a cosy area of Lisbon surrounded by cute cafes, bars and restaurants! We enjoyed our stay and the bed was very comfortable. There's a kettle in the room and a shared kitchenette including a microwave and fridge for storing food. The bathroom started to smell a bit and there was mould on the ceiling, but other than that we enjoyed our stay at Flores Guesthouse. There aren't a lot of major tourist attractions nearby, but it was easy for us to walk or get transport to see the sights.

Great spot with very friendly staff. No A/C but it was nice that we had a room with a balcony as there were only 2 or 3 of these rooms.

Beautiful place, one of the nicest looking hospits ever. Location was perfect. The service in the reception was really nice, Even though they got our booking wrong and we had to get rooms away from our children (Whom we booked the rooms with). The food in the restaurant was nice, the coffie not, and unfortunally the service there was not like the rest of the house. Also 3 Euros for a coffie without taste is not a good price in a hospits. Lots of lovely travellers and things happening throughout the day. There was Dj and parties till 2 in the morning so bring earplugs. No aircondition in the rooms made it impossible to close the Windows. Still, if you are a young traveller, this will feel like luxury compated to other hospits.
