Hotels near Casa de Joao das Regras, Lisbon

We booked a week at the Lisbon Serviced Apartments - Bairro Alto based on positive reviews from previous visitors. The (eight room) four story apartments are located in the old hilly section of the city where steep and narrow sidewalks are the norm and are slippery during rain. The main entrance is via a short alleyway. Access to the outer main door entrance and individual apartments are very 21st century in that there is no reception. The outside door has a cypher lock and guests use a reservation number to get in. Once inside the 'lobby' space there is a kiosk/screen to check in and get an assigned room and cypher code for your room. The kiosk has language selections to help with directions. There also a one-way phone to speak with a person/assistance. The machine scans documents, i.e., passports or European ID cards. It took me ten minutes and the final phase was to take a photo of the QR square displayed to keep track of your room number and access code. There are four floors with two apartments on each floor. There is an elevator and stairs. The rooms are spacious and well outfitted with a mini kitchen, including dishes, cooking ware, dishwasher, clothes washer and refrigerator. The clothes washer is great, we used it and dried clothes on a clothes hangar that was stashed in the closet. There is a comfortable queen size bed with a large flat screen hanging on the opposite wall. A closet has a self-use strong box with directions (in English) to set-up a personalized multi-digit code during your stay. The bathroom is roomy with a shower stall instead of a bath. Plenty of windows, including in the bathroom. The cross street is named Rua Do Poco Dos Negros and is a main line for the local trams that pass through the neighborhood, with a tram stop maybe 100 feet from the apartments. Taxis pass through here as well. Small restaurants are plentiful within a 15-minute parameter. The popular Plaza del Comercio is about a twenty-minute walk or a Three Euro Tram ride away. Aside from steep streets, the area is safe, even a night. The apartments are a clean, good bargain for staying in Lisbon.

We got a private room there cause we wanted our own space. Looked decent in the photos. When we arrived the room was quite dirty. Dirt on the walls, toothpaste around the sink and the towels we got had brown stains in it. We did not experience the privateness of our room because the bedroom door has a 2cm gap underneath it so all the stamps on the wooden floor and all the people coming and going (which was alot) along with the maintenace room next door felt like they were in our room. Alot of other smaller things like malfunction noises in the ventilation and very poor quality in the bed. “Breakfast included” was white bread, jam and coffee. BIGGEST PROBLEM is that the bathroom has alot of black mold in it. For example all around the shower and the shower glass and around the sink. After two nights we contacted the staff and told them about all these things listed above and we wanted to move out of that room and go somewhere else. So they told us that I had to send an email which would be forwarded to their supervisor, which I did. I checked upon them multiple times with calls, emails and direct conversation. Their supervisor, who was not there, would contact me which he never did. I am well aware this is not a 5 star accomodation but this is not ok in any accomodation that you pay for. I’ve been all around the world staying in allkinds of accomodations but this was my worst experience. Not only because of the room situation but because of the staffmembers who didnt even try to make things better by for example clean the room, offer us new towels offer us new bedroom. We paid 156€/night there. When the client points out things that are poor and could easily be fixed, just fix it and at least try to make them happy. WOT Lisbon Patio … Do better !

Please beware of Hotel DAH in Lisbon...the treatment and experience we endured at this hotel were so deplorable, unaccomodating, and unacceptable. We booked this hotel through ******* for 4 nights in Lisbon. Due to the size of our party, 2 adults and 3 children, this was the only option for our family to be in 1 room at the time. After arriving late to check in due to travel, the hotel was very unflattering as the pictures from Expedia's site as well as the hotel's website depicted a completely different image, a complete misrepresentation. In addition, travel sites indicate laundry facilities in which they did not have, only a pricey service that they contract out. As having never been to Lisbon and not knowing the neighborhoods, we were taken back by all of the graffiti on the adjacent abandoned building. The layout of the hotel is very small and bizarre, with an elevator that could not even fit our family and luggage. We booked the quadruple room in order to accommodate our family; however the hotel management informed us that we only made a reservation for 4, even after showing them proof. The hotel stated that anyone older than 12 is considered an adult, and we are only allowed 4 adults. Our children are 17, 14, 14. We were willing to pay the extra bed charge fee, even though we felt that this should have been handled between ******* and the hotel; however after the way we were treated we stated that we were not going to pay the extra bed fee. The General Manager later informed us after we had checked out, that the night attendant, who checked us in, will have to personally pay for the extra person as he did not request the $ from us at time of check-in. I find this very disturbing and disheartening that management would do this as he was the most pleasant person at the property. From being questioned the first night from staff as to why we were checking out the property, being treated like second class citizens from the night attendant (Sandra?), having our room key deactivated and not telling the truth as to why it was deactivated (was told that these things happen, but Nena (General Manager) admitted it was because we hadn't paid the nominal fee for the extra bed/person), and the overall feeling of being constantly watched, not welcomed, and unsafe, we decided to check out early. Nena, the GM, stated that irregardless of our awful experience, this was a non-refundable booking and will not credit us for the 2 nights we did not stay at Hotel DAH. Even ******* felt for our discomfort and assisted us in other ways that we are extremely grateful for. This experience took up quality family vacation time that we can not get back. Please think twice about staying at this property as this was the worst experience we have encountered in all of our years of travel. We landed here from a cancelled easyjet flight, staff were so understanding when we arrived. Breakfast and dinner was included in our stay and was a buffet style with a great selection. Room was very spacious and clean. A 1 minute walk away from metro entrance and supermarket.

The good: Overall it was a good experience. My wife and I stayed there for 4 nights on a business trip. The hotel looks very good well kept, the room was very clean. We could tell that everyday the cleaning staff cleansed the whole bathroom. Fresh water in the room everyday, for free. Nothing to point out about the staff, they were quite nice. Really a 4-star hotel. The bad: We only had breakfast included because we had to spend the whole day away working. We got to the restaurant very early, about 7h30 am and the place was absolutely crowded with a large group (we could tell it was a group because they were all asian). Next day we had to sit outside for breakfast for the same reason (there are heaters on the terrace but they are not sufficient). We only had dinner in the restaurant once. It's either burguers or the HEALTHY Food&Beverage options. We ordered BOWL DA ESTAÇÃO and SALMON POKE. It was nothing special and quite expensive. On the last night at late hours, the room next door decided to have a party with loud music, loud talking and slamming doors. We called reception and they promptly intervened. (I think it should be a general policy in alls hotels to separate ”business” and ”vacation” guests.)

This was a brilliant place to stay that was great value for money, comfy, and in a really great location just outside the centre of Lisbon. Transport links were plentiful and I have to give 5 stars to our host (I’m so sorry I didn’t manage to catch his name - I believe it might be Pedro??) who was incredibly friendly, professional and made us feel very welcome in the building. He also gave us information about the local area and a few recommendations which was lovely! The only issue we had was dropping our bags off in the morning as check in did not open till 15:00. We were informed we could do this from 10:00 as cleaning staff would be there but when using the buzzer at the front door we got no response. Luckily we managed to get inside via another couple staying in the building. From here a member of the cleaning staff was happy to lock our bags in reception until check in opened. Just a minor thing overall but this process could be a bit better :) thank you for having us!

Chain hotel facilities are not much different from each hotel, the sanitary environment is good, the environment is good

Also below CV19-Bedingungen I expect a hotel that adheres to the facade with four stars to a lot more. Every morning the same processes, coffee in ToGo cups in a paper bag together with a apple and wooden knife, incrusted ”sandwich” in alufolium with always the same coating ( disk cheese disk cooks******e dry without butter). With some luck it managed to not shake the coffee and everything is dry. But this a piece of fruit is now beautifully warm. Or it's all swept and the day and breakfast is ”saturated”. No trace of a table, a normal cup, a normal beet etc. Eating from the hotel kitchen is unfortunately not worth the price. Carpaccio is beautifully made and fully frozen in the middle, so fresh is different. The hamburger on the one hand is “mini” and in the dry bread that falls out when looking (13€) are a joke, unfortunately not funny. Bach now several stays, forcefully as everything else is closed, I will change immediately as soon as alternatives are available. Hotel itself is clean new and modernly furnished, but dues is destroyed by the circumstances described above DANGER!!!!!

The hotel is very nice and new looking. Very clean. Andre is so helpful at the front desk as are all of the staff. Loved it here. But for a long stay I would want more amenities but for the price and 2 nights, it was perfect. Lidl Grocery store across the street.

You get what you expect, but sometimes it gets exceeded. We booked this nice hotel by chance. Due to Corona we were unable to go to Spain, instead we had to look for an alternative and luckily we found this great hotel! Honestly, I think we found a better place instead of Mallorca and the only time we got disappointed was when we realized: time is over, we have to go back home. The new hotel offers all comfort you are looking for. Despite of the fact that the amazing rooms are spacious and full of high quality materials, also the hotel ground is carefully designed. The beds are cozy, all is clean and the room-service is perfect. Each room has a minibar with reasonable prices. Enough storage space is given. The shower works perfect, also inside of the bathroom you have enough space to put your stuff in. The room itself is sound-proof except the doors. If there is some noise outside you might hear it until people are gone into their rooms. However, that is the only point of critics. The restaurant is also spacious and you feel cozy while having a lunch or dinner, the swimming pool is huge and also nice designed. There are also enough sun-beds and umbrellas. All dishes can be eaten on the terrace and lounge area close to the pool. Wherever you are, the Wi-Fi Connection is working perfect and really fast. The breakfast is great! Nothing to complain about. Fresh juices, warm dishes either from buffet or a la minute can be ordered. Due to Corona the buffet is not accessible by you but you get served from the absolute friendly staff. These guys (ladies and gentlemen) do a great job to make you feel comfortable and cozy. A warm welcome was given to us at the reception when we arrived the first day. It continued each day when we met someone else from the staff. We also loved it to have a private chat with them from time to time. Thanks also to the lady who we kept busy providing us a table outside on the terrace at breakfast time each morning. Even the tables and chairs were wet each morning she took care that we got a dry one. Even on rainy Thursday morning she expected us with a welcome “I was waiting for you …” - with a big smile on her face knowing quite well we would not sit outside when it is raining – *lol*. Conclusion: great hotel, great staff, great style. Perfect place and a strong recommendation from us to visit this hotel!
