Location is great and it’s only one of the few hotels in the old town which aren’t overpriced that accommodate foreigners. With that being said, we called ahead of time to double check we would have no issues staying there. However, when we arrived we weren’t greeted very pleasantly. It seemed as though our arrival was a huge inconvenience and the receptionist had to “check” if we could stay, even though we had all of our documents in order and up to date. The room was dark and dingy, in serious need of repair and revamping. The velour bathroom curtain and windows curtains were offensively gross. It’s not that the room was unclean, it was just falling apart. The towel rail was hanging off the wall, the wall and the ceiling needed serious work, we had to duck and weave to get into our room before of a ceiling leak, and there were a lot of non-paying guests in our room, in the form of spiders. Due to the wooden structure, insects etc are to be expected and it wasn’t really an issue for us, but may be for others. I’d definitely search for alternatives before staying here again.

The boss has run the inn for 10 years. Maybe the living environment in Wuhuashi, Lijiang is not the best, but the boss and his wife still keep their original intention of running the inn, listening to every guest's story, passing on the warmth of the inn, and sharing their warm wishes for life with every guest.
