Hotels near Chainless Park, Lausanne

This was a very surprising experience because ALL of the other hotels we have been were so clean and great in every way. Switzerland is a very clean country even the railway stations are clean not to mention the train carriages and all the other hotels we have seen, and on this trip we visited by now 7 other similar category ones all spotless. So if I wanted to be kind I would say it’s all run down and the owner has a terminal disease whereby he would not care for the property anymore.., but if I want to be realistic it was downright dirty and disgusting. The room was large with old style furniture probably furnished twenty years ago and never cleaned the upholstery. There were dark spots on the little sofa and chairs most likely from someone’s shoes. The wall paper was all faded and also dirty. There was a note on the night stand to say they only change the linen every three days due to being “greens” so when I checked a pillow and seen a huge dark stain poking out from under the sham we just did not use that.. next to the bed there was a sticky spot on the blue carpet and in a good case scenario it must have been hair gel..(?) whatever it was they just ignored it. The shutters on the windows were half way broken off their rails.. the wood of the furniture was so scuffed I could not tell if it was a dark or a light stain originally ( ?!!) It is a 4 star hotel?!)? OMG And in Switzerland where even the WC / toilet is sanitary and clean.. I have to make a distinction though, the junior stuff was extremely nice and helpful at the reception and a test it is the fault of the manager or owner or both, not the employees. They were very great. The manager ( who seemed like the boss ) was giving them all instructions when we got in the door and proceeded to tell us that our accommodations are ready and since it’s a mini suite it will be phenomenal. The location is amazing right across the station so it suited us. And other then the horrible grunginess and dirty conditions it would have been fine. The bathroom was fine but the room really made me write this bad review. It is a shame to have a hotel saying they have four star rating and not clean up their act ( in this case literally). Mitzi

Typical Moxy. Min room, not much more than bed, tv, light and bathroom. No dresser, no phone. (Know what to expect with Moxy - Ive used them in Scotland, England, Germany, Copenhagen) - but this one has no Air conditioning, charges for hot water. It is over 100F/ 37.8 C and I am melting in the room. No ice machines either. Very small sweaty ”workout” area. I won't categorize it as a gym. For hotel that brands itself as ” stylishly chic hotel that focuses on less, while offering so much more!” --- the only offering is sweating myself into a puddle. Bathroom - lots of long hair left in shower. Not dirty, just left overs.

Good location very close to the railway station, restaurants etc and a short hop on the metro either downhill to the lake or uphill to the centre of town. One of the nice check in 'gifts' was a public transport pass for the length of your stay....handy. Rooms are a little bizarre in design and don't take a cat as you won't be able to swing it!!. Bed very small, low and uncomfortable however walk in shower in the small partitioned bathroom very good. Breakfast OK ish. Think you pay a premium for the excellent view of the lake. Reception staff very good and helpful. Nothing special about this place but handy, very clean with good staff.

The hotel is very close to Lake Geneva. The suite we booked has unobstructed views from the balcony. The snow-capped mountains in the distance are really fascinating! The hotel service is very good and the facilities are complete. Although it is winter, you can still swim. It is also said to have the best spa in Lausanne. The breakfast is relatively simple.

A great location with easy access to bus, and free 24 hour travel card provided with stay! Delicious and filling breakfast with vegan options widely available, amazing!

Not in Geneva, but driving is also more convenient to reach, convenient for travelers on business trips nearby. The front desk was warm and thoughtful, the room was clean, the facilities were new, the decoration was modern, and free parking was available.

I was running a two day workshop in the conference facilities here and staying. Isabelle was super helpful with all my last minute requirements. The hotel was quiet and comfortable. The restaurant was a little slow on service (lunch was +1.5 hours even when we said we were on a tight schedule) but that might just be me needing to slow down! The rooms are quiet (despite a railway right next door) with the front facing having an epic view of lake Geneva.

Starling did most things that you would expect from a business hotel quite well. An added bonus for me travelling with family was that they allow pets, which is why I chose to stay here. On the negative side, I would expect given the prices charged that little ”extras” like a fridge and coffee machine in the room and a microwave oven available for public use would come as part of the package, but sadly no.

Sehr schönes Hotel mit exzellentem Service. Schon der Empfang an der Rezeption ließ keine Wünsche offen. Nicht nur alles wissenswerte zum Hotel wurde uns erklärt, sondern darüber hinaus gab es umfangreiche Informationen zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten und touristischen Highlights der Stadt. Die Benutzung des öffentlichen Personen Nahverkehrs war für Gäste des Hotels kostenlos. Die Zimmer sind modern eingerichtet und wir konnten sogar einen Blick auf den Genfer See genießen. Während des Aufenthalts wurde unser Auto an einer der 3 Ladesäuilen in der Tiefgarage kostenlos aufgeladen. Im Restaurant und der Bar wurden wir bestens versorgt. Das mehrsprachige Personal wird den internationalen Anforderungen voll gerecht. Auch die MA im Restaurant waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Vielen Dank an Lucia wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir hatten keinen Reiseadapter für die Schweiz dabei. Auch hier haben die MA an der Rezeption freundlich ausgeholfen. Ein Besuch im modern Times Hotel ist in jedem Fall eine Reise wert. Als touristisches Highlight steht das Museum ”Chaplin’s world” ganz oben auf der Liste.
